Finished in Estoril Blue over Dove Grey leather, this BMW E36 M3 Sedan was delivered new to Florida in March of 1997 optioned with a power sunroof, cruise control, an onboard computer, Harman Kardon sound system, and a 5-speed automatic transmission. It remained in Florida up until March of 2022 and is now being offered at auction by its seller out of California showing just over 20k miles on the odometer.
The exterior is finished in Estoril Blue (335) and features M3-specific front and rear bumpers, flared side skirts, black Shadowline trim, and body-colored aerodynamic mirrors. Exterior equipment includes a power-operated sunroof, foglights, a front spoiler, and M3-badged side moldings. The original 17” Style 22 wheels are wrapped in Sumitomo tires from 2020. The seller reports some rock chips on the hood and front bumper, touched-up areas on the paint, bubbling under the driver’s side kidney grille, scratches on the rear bumper, and some minor rust on components on the undercarriage. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The interior is upholstered in Dove Grey Nappa leather, featuring 8-way power-adjustable front seats, a leather-wrapped M-Sport steering wheel with M tri-color stitching, M3-branded door sills, and an M-badged instrument cluster. The driver is supplied with an onboard trip computer, power windows, central locking, cruise control, automatic climate control, and an AM/FM cassette stereo. Aftermarket woodgrain trim pieces have been added and the seller notes some wear on the driver’s side outer seat bolster.
The 1997 E36 M3 is powered by an S52B32 inline six-cylinder engine rated at 240 HP and 236 lb.-ft of torque. The rear wheels are driven by way of a 5-speed automatic transmission and limited-slip differential, which allows the M3 to reach 60 MPH in around 6 seconds. Performance features include variable-ratio power steering, an independent sport suspension with anti-roll bars, 4-wheel ventilated anti-lock brakes, and Dynamic Stability Control. Limited service information is available, although CARFAX shows tire replacement earlier in 2022.
This sale will include a clean title, a set of keys, owner's manuals, and the original window sticker.

@Bobn There's plenty of info on the E36 M3 out there. The automatic is a ZF, and BMW didn't come out with an "automatic manual" until the E46 which optioned SMG...which by the way I hated. I'd rather have an automatic over an SMG.

Please respond to my questions.
Does this car have a “normal” type of automatic transmission, or is it some sort of hybrid like a clutchless manual?
Is the automatic transmission a sort of hydra Matic design or is it a clutchless manual transmission?
Would you set out in this car to drive across the United States?
