We are pleased to present this 1996 Porsche 993 Carrera Targa finished in Black Metallic over a Classic Grey interior. Introduced in 1996 as the first 911 to feature a sliding glass roof system, the 993 Carrera Targa is based upon the reinforced platform of the Cabriolet and comes standard with exclusive 17” two-piece wheels. This inaugural model year example was delivered new in Canada and currently resides under the care of its owner in New York. As previously listed on PCARMARKET, this Targa is now being offered for auction showing approximately 82k kilometers (51k miles) on the odometer.
This 993 was ordered in Black Metallic (Schwarzmetallic, L744), a precursor to the modern shade of Basalt Black Metallic. The 993 Targa introduced a new roof system comprised of a green-tinted laminated glass roof section that slides beneath the rear window for an open-air driving experience. The CARFAX report shows damage claims filed in 2009 and 2012, and the seller reports some areas of the car to have been refinished. Several cosmetic imperfections are depicted throughout the exterior including chips below the driver-side door sill and a cracked black stone guard over the driver-side rear quarter panel. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with paint meter readings and a full CARFAX report. The Targa-exclusive 17” two-piece wheels come fitted with colored Porsche crest center caps and a set of Continental ExtremeContact tires.
Inside, the 993 features a Classic Grey interior with power-adjustable comfort seats, an upgraded Kenwood stereo, and an Exclusive aluminum-trimmed handbrake and gear knob. The Targa model came standard with a high-capacity air conditioning system including defroster vents for the rear quarter windows. The front seats have been replaced and some signs of wear are present on the bolsters as well as a mark on the base of the driver-side rear seat.
This 993 is equipped with an air-cooled 3.6L flat-six engine rated at 282 HP. The rear wheels are driven by way of a 6-speed manual transmission, and stopping power comes from fixed four-piston brakes paired with cross-drilled rotors front and rear.
This sale will include a spare tire, jack, and a clean title. A potential mileage discrepancy is shown on CARFAX, possibly resulting from a clerical error made during registration. Now is your chance to get behind one of the rarest and most sought-after Porsche 993s of all, do not let this 6-speed 1996 Targa pass you by.

@Yamadude68 Hello Yama, the 993 targas are more rare than the venerable 993 turbos which are hitting all time highs now at $300k with low mileage but even a similar mileage 993 turbo would fetch $220-250k now and these targas were about $25k cheaper msrp prices. Now I am not sure a turbo is 3x the car of these targas considering these are rarer in volume and less complications and still looks just as cool, cooler if you open the big pano glass =)
@davidlam2022 Interesting observation David, It is very easy to discredit others listings for whatever purpose it is either that is what you believe or just to put off others who is looking to purchase for their collection since you have shown interest in your bids. Either way I would really encourage you to come see inspect and drive the car in person and give me an honest opinion after such. I am sure your opinion would change after you have actually seen and driven it. Pictures came out fantastic however it doesn't always give this car justice. We have had this car along with multiple 993's and multiple aircooled cars and multitude of other eclectic cars from our personal collection for many years and I am certain many other collectors understands too well not all cars gets driven as much as they should, hopefully this one is going to the right driver to be fully enjoyed. I also welcome you to come and visit us and possibly find something else in our collection to suit your driving needs. PS: the way the market is now even a 200k kilometer or roughly 125k miles would still get over $50000 in this market and this car has 51k miles PSS. impact bumper cars with that mileage gets over $50000. Thanks for your interest.
@davidlam2022 now that's an interesting observation. As you know, very common for these odometer gears to break at some point in these 993's. Not saying that's the case here, but something to consider with that CARFAX data..... I do love the car though... Don't see these everyday that's for sure. Would be a deal if it stays at $50k.
@minhchoi : CARFAX data shows about 10 years ago the mileage at 80+ km, so the real mileage should be in the range of 150,000 to 200,000 km's. Pictures of rusted suspension parts and engine sound attest to that estimate.

@nosubC2de Thanks! My 96 C4 Cab has Rubicon Gray, which is rare and beautiful!!!
@Dare I cannot explain it either, the buyer came saw, inspected and drove the car and he also said he liked the car. He contacted me afterwards that he didn't like the interior because it had some purple tint in it. The interior looks exactly as shown in the photos and its does not have any damage of any sorts. Pcarmarket was notified and we are forced to relist it.
@artichoke I believe it is Rubicon gray and it is very rare color option only available in 96 and 97. Definitely not as dark as my classic gray interiors from another 993.

@Russbaribault It is a miles
@Russbaribault the car was imported from Canada and retained its original odometer and reads 81000 kilometers which translates to 51000 miles. 993 Targas were first generation that came with the pano sliding glass and did not have the 996, 997 targa rear glass that can pop open. Thank you for your interest.
Car sold in January and now again? Seller, can you please explain reasons?
Front seats are not original to car. They are ruffled seats, car was originally delivered with non ruffled (standard) seats. Door check straps on drivers side need some attention. But a nice car glwts
@Russbaribault Kilometers vs miles isn't it?
Is it Classic gray or Rubicon Gray interior? Rubicon Gray has a slightly purple tint to it!
I’m sure it’s a typo odometer shows 81k mikes and listing shows 51k.
Does the back glass open on the 993 Targa’s like the 997’s?
