Now available is this 1996 Porsche 993 Targa finished in Guards Red over Black leather. One of the rarely seen Porsche models, this 993 is reported to be 1 of only 462 Targa versions built for the U.S. during the 1996 model year. Purchased by its current owner in 2006 with just under 37k miles shown on the odometer, this 993 features high-end Techart upgrades including a front spoiler, side skirts, an exhaust system, and 18” 3-piece wheels. Now showing just over 125k miles, this 2-owner 1996 example is being offered by its seller in Florida accompanied by original books, tools, and a clean title.
The Guards Red finish is said to be in very good condition and the seller confirms this car to have been garage-kept under their ownership. Ceramic coating was applied over the full exterior within the last year and clear paint protection film is applied over the bumpers, lower front hood, and mirror covers. Premium ceramic window tint has also been installed and the front windshield was recently replaced. The 993 generation debuted a completely redesigned Targa top system which uses an electrically operated sliding glass roof. This new system eliminated the inconvenience of having to store the top when not in use. Modifications include a Techart front spoiler, Techart side skirts, front brake cooling ducts, and 18” 3-piece Techart wheels which feature new rear tires installed within the last 500 miles.
Inside, this Targa features a Black leather interior with custom Alcantara upholstery on the steering wheel and shift lever. The cabin is said to be in great shape with only minor wear indicated on the driver’s seat bolster. An aftermarket sound system has been installed including a custom subwoofer in the front passenger footwell, an external trunk-mounted amplifier, and an iPod connection located in the glovebox. The Targa top was fully serviced under the current ownership at a cost of approximately $7k and the seller confirms all gauges and accessories to be working properly.
Representing the final generation of the air-cooled 911, this 993 is equipped with a 3.6 L flat-six Varioram engine rated at 282 HP from the factory. The rear wheels are driven through a 6-speed manual transmission which provides for a 0-60 time of approximately 5 seconds. Performance upgrades include a Techart exhaust, a Techart front sway bar, and a shock tower brace. Catalytic converters are equipped and this 993 is said to be in fantastic driving order with service records dating back to the original purchase.
This sale will include a set of 2 keys, a stamped Porsche maintenance book, owner’s manuals, a toolkit, air compressor, and spare tire.

This 993 Targa is the only Porsche out of all the P-cars I have ever owned or currently own (991T, 997 Cab S, and 914) where other Porsche, Ferrari, Aston, even a Rolls Royce driver has stopped me in a parking lot or a traffic light to say this wish they still owned theirs!

@noahkl thanks for the info!
Today's the day! I have received many inquiries and a lot of local interest in the Targa. You may have seen the Targa in the DealTank section 2 weeks ago with a "Buy It Now" price that was what I believe in my hearts of hearts the Targa to be worth. However, after much discussion with the experts at Pcarmarket and at the insistence of my CFO a.k.a The Wife: The reserve price has been lowered significantly. Bid with confidence knowing the car will sell today. I will be checking in regularly to go make this a happy transition for all parties. CHEERS

@noahkl SOUNDS GOOD STEREO 2227 Biscayne Blvd, Miami, FL 33137 (permanently closed)
@Stevodevo The sound system was installed approx. 8 years ago I believe. I have an iPod Classic connected in the glovebox usually. I believe you would be able to play music off a newer iPhone though the not be able to receive calls while it connected . A/C blows cold and heater works as well (it was 60 this morning here when I showed the car and heater worked great why I was out warming up engine). I had the oil and oil filter changed less than 150 miles ago, no upcoming service as far as i know. Photo 97 is under the floor in the driver side foot area
Beautiful Targa! Love that this car was driven like it was meant to be. Does the AC blow cold and heater work well? Also, what is picture 97 showing? What service is upcoming and when? Lastly, who did the stereo system install. Thanks in advance! Again. Beautiful car.
@turbofan 1. No and mechanic has not recommended
2. No. Every cylinder hits
3.Less than a quart. I have put less than 1000 miles on the car in the past 12 months
4.It marks it's spot in the smallest possible way for a car this age
5. Never
6. Never
7. No. Impossible to do without removing cylinder heads. Not recommended by mechanic
8. Sunshade is perfect working order
9. Several inches of the footwell are taken up. My wife is 5'8" has no issue with it. Easily removed if desired.
@noahkl Great looking Targa! I'm having trouble deciphering the service receipts, so I have a few questions:
1. With 125K miles, has it had a top end rebuild?
2. Have you had compression and leakdown tests done? What were the results?
3. How much oil does the car consume every 1000 miles?
4. Does the engine leak oil?
5. Does it smoke on startup? Or at high RPMs?
6. Do you have a check engine light on? Have you had one in the last 3 months?
7. Have the SAI ports been cleaned or has a mechanic recommended cleaning them?
8. Noticed the comment on the targa glass. Does the targa sunshade also currently function properly?
9. How much space does the subwoofer take up in the passenger footwell? Was anything removed from the car to accommodate the sub box?
@Aberas2529 In 2008 I had Champion Porsche do a major service on the glass roof (photo 150-151 invoice). Zero issues since then
@noahkl Beautiful targa! Have you had issues with the sliding glass panel?
9am tomorrow (Tuesday) I will be in the parking area in front of Islanders Market Place on Brickell Key, Miami 33131. Please feel free to swing by and check out the Targa.

@rivardrene Yes, images 156-159. The Carfax also shows this is a true 2 owner vehicle.
do you have a clean carfax
Please note that stitching on the custom Alcantara wrapped steering wheel & shifter is RED (photos 77-80). It appears gray in the photos but I assure it is red.
Bid in the amount of $28,750
@tutone The 18” Techart Championship 3-piece wheels manufactured by OZ were installed by the previous (original) owner. I had the centers painted black and the lips rechormed several years ago. The center caps with Porsche crest are custom fitted and were a labor of love to source. Period correct through and through. And no I do not have the stock rims.
Do you have the original wheels?

@noahkl Hello any way to see the car I am in pompano beach
Greetings All,
This auction is filled with mixed emotions for me. I am in love with this Targa and for the past 14 years have been so fortunate to be the caretaker. She was my daily driver for a handful of years that consisted of 40 mile round trip commute on the highway 5 days a week. Never a breakdown though I spent quite a bit in preventive maintenance as the attached invoices show. I never intended to part with this perma-grin inducing machine and my wife reminds me all the time how much cooler this 993 is than the 991 replacing it is.
This targa is a testament to what a driving experience is all about. I cannot say enough about how awesome the glass roof makes every drive regardless of weather.
I am can go on & on about my love for her and how every single drive put a smile on my face.
I encourage you to post questions that I will answer in a timely manner.
Thank you and drive fun!
