Available for auction is this 1996 Porsche 993 Carrera 4 Coupe finished in Iris Blue Metallic over a Chestnut Brown partial leather interior. Representing the final generation of the air-cooled 911, this 993 was acquired by the seller from the original owner earlier this year. It benefits from having had a full engine rebuild, and comes equipped with H&R lowering springs. It is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California, while showing just over 121k miles on the odometer.

This 993 comes finished in rare Iris Blue Metallic (L39V) and can be distinguished as a Carrera 4 model by its silver brake calipers and lettering on the rear decklid. The seller notes that rust was present in the windshield cowl and was addressed and refinished. Additionally, the driver side fender and door have been blended, and the rear passenger quarter panel was refinished for cosmetic purposes. The factory driver side stone guard was removed by the seller, however the passenger side remains intact. The seller also notes that the vehicles bumpers and rear spoiler may need addressing. Additional images can be found in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX. The seller notes that within the tub of the car an incorrect Midnight Blue Metallic color tag was placed from the factory, however the factory option tag correctly indicates the color as Iris Blue (L39V) along with the maintenance booklet. It rides on a set of 17” Cup 2 wheels dressed in a set of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires bearing date codes from 2012 and 2019.

The power-adjustable seats are upholstered in Chestnut Brown partial leather, with matching door panels and carpeting. The front seats are said to have been refurbished and the carpets are protected by a set of newer floor mats. Amenities include a Becker Porsche cassette-radio, cruise control, and a power operated sunroof. The seller reports that all gauges, electronics, and accessories are functional.

The air-cooled 3.6L flat-six features a VarioRam intake system and was factory rated at 282 horsepower and 250 lb-ft of torque. Power is delivered to all four wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission. This example sits slightly lower thanks to a set of upgraded H&R lowering springs. The CARFAX includes 24 service history records dating back as far as 2004, with the most recent coming in March of this year. In January of 2019 the car reportedly received an engine rebuild and a new clutch from Braman Porsche at a cost of over $33k. Supporting service records are available for reference in the gallery. The seller notes that the CV boots and shocks are due for replacement.

This sale will include owner’s manuals, toolkit, spare tire, air pump, full CV boot kit and a clean Arizona title.

Getting down to the final hours folks! It’s been a pleasure owning this car and I hope to see it go to a good home. She doesn’t deserve to sit while I drive my GT4 lol. I shouldn’t have to say this, but please only bid if you have the funds available or financing ready to go. Seen a lot of auctions go sideways when new bidders get excited and come up with excuses, if you bid and win the car it’s yours! So please get permission from your parents, wives, girlfriends/boyfriends, goomah, or side people before doing so lol. Good luck bidders!! Maybe see you in Monterey on Saturday.

  • jaynar (seller) 2 years, 4 monthsago

@Joesnovak A wonderful short amount of time with this beauty as I got lucky enough to possibly get the last ‘22 GT4 allocation in the county. The car is 49 days out as it’s finished production and being shipped. Anyhow the interior color is Chestnut brown as the description states. Red is quite different although you do see hints of it. Beautiful combo indeed possibly 1/1. Thank you!

  • Joesnovak 2 years, 4 monthsago

@jaynar How long have you owned this car? Interior looks reddish.. it’s hard to tell by photos , but it seems to be unusual, never seen that combo. GLWS

  • jaynar (seller) 2 years, 4 monthsago

@Arffbubba Yes absolutely. No SAI issue here.

  • Arffbubba (registered bidder) 2 years, 4 monthsago

Jaynar, as part of engine rebuild, are there/were there steps taken to eliminate SAI gremlins?

  • Tarek307 (registered bidder) 2 years, 4 monthsago

I bought a car from this seller a couple of years ago and know him well, true enthusiast, NO BS , very accurate in his description and pretty meticulous about his cars.

The color combo on this car is pretty special, with a great service history...

  • jaynar (seller) 2 years, 4 monthsago

@993auto No prior owner took care of that as mentioned in the description. Picture are in the photo gallery. Thanks.

  • 993auto (registered bidder) 2 years, 4 monthsago

Any rust/bubbling under the front windshield (driver/passenger side) Can you share pictures?

Hi everyone, I was asked privately if the A/C works, yes as demonstrated in Pic 52, it was blowing 37 degrees on an 88 degree day. Radio/Cassette player function as they should, speakers are original I do recommend replacing those at some point. Cruise Control works as well as all seat controls, windows, and mirrors. Thank you.

  • jaynar (seller) 2 years, 4 monthsago

@gfcollins911 No that’s it unfortunately. I’ve worked with a few photographers on Mt. Diablo and they always recommended that exact spot in the shade to do a photoshoot. The drive by video is in the sun set your device to 4K and zoom in to get a grasp of the color. It’s beautiful in the shade and the sun.

  • gfcollins911 (registered bidder) 2 years, 4 monthsago

Do you have any pictures in full sunlight? It's hard to get a feel for the color in the posted pics. Thanks!

  • jaynar (seller) 2 years, 4 monthsago

@kjkaley No problem! Thank you! As far as the rear bumper my guess is the car was backed into a parking spot (which I do 99% of the time) and the previous owner went too far back going over the concrete parking block, being that the car is so low (stock height included) it got caught under the rear bumper, and as he pulled forward it tore. I’ve seen this on many other 993s as well. Body shops can repair plastic and if not replacement bumpers are not very expensive if you go the used route. Hope this helps!

  • kjkaley (registered bidder) 2 years, 4 monthsago

@jaynar Thank you sir. I missed your comment about the GT4 in your opening box so sorry for the "why" question - congrats on your new ride. Do you have any insight to the rear bumper and what caused the cracks near the exhaust outlets? (Pic # 40 & 41) Thanks again.

  • sportscarguy3 (registered bidder) 2 years, 4 monthsago

    Very clean good looking 993C4
Definitely seems like the kind of seller you want to buy from
    Good luck all

  • jaynar (seller) 2 years, 4 monthsago

@kjkaley Sweet combo indeed. Valid question! The car was not driven' when there was the presence of snow/salt so No corrosion related to that. In fact if you look at the service records from NJ you'll see the car was almost always taken in during the months of April, May, or mostly August. The original owner had a matching 993 Turbo so both cars were stored during the winter. The sunroof seals tight, no leaks, see videos for operation. No, the car was not smoked in, smells like any other air cooled Porsche I've had. Selling because I'm getting a new GT4 that someone flaked on, production just finished! Never had a new Porsche so this will be exciting for me. I don't have the garage space so this car has to go unfortunately. Keeping my 997 Turbo and ultra rare '94 964 Targa for the time being. Thanks.

  • kjkaley (registered bidder) 2 years, 4 monthsago

@jaynar - nice looking 993 and color combo. I see that this was a NE car for the 1st 8 years. Any concerns with rust or corrosion underneath? Does the sunroof seal tight? no leaks? Has the car ever been smoked in? Why selling so soon? Thanks.

  • jaynar (seller) 2 years, 4 monthsago

@CaymanS987 It’s a common issue with 993 and 996 regarding the horn pad. It’s been addressed and the horn works as it should on this car. Regarding the stone guards they were original, I removed the one on the driver’s side. It took 6 hours!! I did not have time to touch the passenger side so decided to leave it up to the pros. And next owner. Thanks.

  • jaynar (seller) 2 years, 4 monthsago

@hamadfa Yes featured in Pic 103, 126, 127 with original matching option sticker and stamps.

  • CaymanS987 (registered bidder) 2 years, 4 monthsago

@jaynar Very nice color combo on this 993. After going through the receipts, I noticed multiple times when the original owner took the car into service for the horn going off on its own. Has it been an issue during the time when you have the car? I also noticed the stone guard is missing on one side, do you know what happened there? Thank you, and good luck.

  • hamadfa 2 years, 4 monthsago

dose the car have service book?

  • jaynar (seller) 2 years, 4 monthsago

    @TJW24 You bet!

  • TJW24 (registered bidder) 2 years, 4 monthsago

Understood, thank you for the detailed responses.

  • jaynar (seller) 2 years, 4 monthsago

@TJW24 I would get new front tires as well as they’re dated. These size Michelin‘s were on back order. The rears are pretty new replaced in 2020.

  • jaynar (seller) 2 years, 4 monthsago

@TJW24 It did not need mechanical work*
Can’t edit my previous post lol.

  • jaynar (seller) 2 years, 4 monthsago

@TJW24 Hi it not need any mechanical work. The engine was rebuilt in 2019 at 118k miles so not that long ago. The fan was replaced in that auction itself (receipt attached). I did have to replace the frunk and decklid struts. While in there did the Cabin filters and Air filter as those covers come off anyway. I did get the front seats refinished by an old man leather restoration gentleman that was once an air cool mechanic! Only other thing that needs addressing are the shocks as they’re original and CV boots. I am including a full CV boot kit in this auction should someone win. I also put in a set of black floor mats to freshen up the interior.

  • TJW24 (registered bidder) 2 years, 4 monthsago

@jaynar Would you please detail the mechanical work you did to the vehicle since acquiring it in May? It appears the fan blades have been addressed, but what about the other issues that were noted previously in the other auction. Thanks so much.

  • moezilla 2 years, 4 monthsago

Bid in the amount of $40,000

  • jaynar (seller) 2 years, 4 monthsago

@bdonahue54 Thank you! I feel that the C4 feels more glued to the road. Standard LSD helps handling as well. Keanu Reeves has a 993 C4 as well! He has good taste.

  • bdonahue54 (registered bidder) 2 years, 4 monthsago

absolutely lovely spec. I've owned multiple of both C2 and C4 as well. Can you explain how the C4 drives better?

  • jaynar (seller) 2 years, 4 monthsago

Hi everyone, I have an incoming GT4 so I've decided to let this gorgeous 993 go. I've had a Carrera 2 before, and I got to say the Carrera 4 drives much better. There was 1 owner prior to me and he took meticulous care of the car and daily drove it from my understanding. If you're looking for a 993 (with a cool and super rare color combo) that you don't mind taking to work, or the grocery store, this is it! I will be traveling the next few days, I will try my best to answer any questions. Thank you and good luck bidders!
