Finished in a striking combination of Speed Yellow over Midnight Blue leather, this RoW 1996 Porsche 993 Carrera was internally specified and built by Porsche’s Exclusive Department as a promotional press vehicle. Reportedly created as a pre-introduction to the Carrera S model, it showcases a rare narrow-body configuration equipped with Turbo-style front and rear spoilers, side air intakes, and 18” Technology hollow-spoke wheels. It also features the X51 Powerkit with a 3.8-liter engine rated at 300 HP, a 6-speed manual transmission with a limited-slip differential, an Automatic Brake Differential (ABD), Sports Suspension, a strut brace, Litronic xenon headlights, heated power Sport Seats, carbon fiber interior trim, stainless-steel door sills, the Digital Sound Package, a Nokia telephone, and more. This 993 was owned by Porsche AG for the first year and a half and remained in Germany afterwards, where it was maintained at the same Porsche Zentrum until it was purchased and imported to the U.S. by the current owner in 2025. One of the most highly optioned and unique examples of the final air-cooled Porsche 911, this X51-powered Carrera Coupe is now being offered for auction out of California with under 80k kilometers or 50k miles showing on the odometer.
Sharing its front spoiler with the contemporary 911 Turbo, this Carrera features a rarely seen configuration incorporating a narrow-body with optional Turbo S-style front fog lights, side air vents, and a Turbo rear spoiler from Porsche’s Exclusive department. The exterior is finished in Speed Yellow (L12G) and includes optional Litronic bi-xenon headlights, headlamp washers, heated power mirrors, Euro-spec side marker lights, an electric sunroof, a roof-mounted antenna, a rear window wiper, and optional stainless steel tailpipes. The car rides on rare narrow-body 18” Technology lightweight hollow-spoke wheels dressed in Michelin Pilot Sport tires from 2022. The seller indicates the hood was previously refinished, and the exterior is in excellent overall condition. Detailed images and paint meter readings are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The Midnight Blue leather interior features optional carbon fiber trim on the dashboard, center console, and door panels, heated and power-adjustable hardback Sport Seats, stainless-steel door sills with model logos, and aluminum instrument dials with chromed rings. Other accessories include a four-spoke leather steering wheel, optional aluminum trim for the shift and handbrake, the Digital Sound Package, a Porsche CR-31 cassette stereo, an onboard computer, and a Nokia 2110 telephone. A list of factory specification codes is provided below:
The optional Powerkit equips this Carrera with an enlarged 3.8-liter flat-six engine rated at 300 HP, matching that of the Carrera RS model. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transaxle and an optional limited-slip differential. The car also features an optional Automatic Brake Differential (ABD), a strut tower brace, and Sports Suspension which provides a lower and stiffer ride. The seller indicates routine maintenance has been kept up to date at the same Porsche Zentrum in Germany and a stamped service booklet accompanies the car. Recent service included an oil change, brake fluid flush, and dry ice cleaning.
This sale will include owner’s manuals, a toolkit, a spare tire, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “Porsche AG optioned this car to make a statement: X79 air inlets, X51 3.8L-300hp Powerkit, Speed Yellow, Midnight Blue leather with sport hardbacks, extensive carbon fiber, and aluminum finishes. Hard to believe this build is 100% original from the factory. It's the most striking 993 I've ever seen.”

With 993 Turbos selling at $250k this seems like a steal for this unicorn. Wish I could bid…
Bid in the amount of $245,250
As an owner of 1997 S my view is the split grill defines the car. I had not heard of the X-79 option. This exclusive department production based on the narrow bodied 993 so close to the S's introduction for only 97 and 98 using wide body for Carrera S is puzzling.
Great car.....GLWTA!

As we approach the last hour, just wanted to say thank you to everyone for your interest. I will be around to answer any last minute questions.
Good luck bidders!
Oh! If the bidding only stopped here! Any more bidding and I’ll be left behind...but I can still dream! Wait! I’m not even registered to bid. Still, it’s amazing how involved we become as spectators.
GLWTA
Go Gauchos! Go SB Dons!
Just a suggestion regarding the rear air inlets, maybe a Turbo owner can take a pic of the air inlet shape and compare it to this 993 unicorn. Like fitting cabinets to a boat, there are no straight lines. A truly remarkable 993. Can’t wait to see the final price.
Rest of World isn’t such an appropriate description for a car that is more like Out of this World.
This is a beautiful car indeed and a "narrow-bodied" rarity as many below have pointed out.
I have a 993 Turbo WLS2 from 1998 which is almost the reverse of this car in that it has the wide body normally associated with the Turbos but not the fender ducts. Yet it has the same suspension dynamics and the 450 hp (from the factory) found on the 993 Turbo S. The only difference is the use of lots of carbon fiber in the cockpit and leather-wrapped air-conditioning vents, and the aforementioned fender ducts. Apparently, Porsche even authorized the use of the Turbo S chrome logo on the tail of the WLS2, or so I am told.
Per a leading German Porsche expert who actually worked at the factory in Stuttgart when these two cars were produced, there were only between 150 and 170 of the WLS2 variants produced. And, of these, only half a dozen came with the sunroof delete, an option!
I'd be curious to hear any thoughts from this obviously knowledgeable group about the WLS2 variant that was produced, as I understand, only in the last year of air-cooled Porsche production, namely 1998.
And best of luck to @997M3 with this auction! Fond regards to Santa Barbara from a UCSB Gaucho (long ago)!
@forest2
I have an original 993 GT2 that has the exact same aluminum strut brace this car has. I’m 100% sure the strut brace shown in this car is correct. People should not post when they don’t know. It’s incredibly arrogant and throws shade completely inappropriately and can have an impact on folks that are bidding and otherwise might not know.
Stunning example...love this car. GLWTS!
@aforest2
I have a 993 cup car sitting here that has the aluminum strut bar.
@997M3
Thank you for photo #294. (Good view of NB fender-duct option as it’s listed in the 993’s official brochure.)
Re your photos and videos of your 993 driving around SB. Interesting how 911 drivers (and surely others!) seem to know the best roads in town. I recognize each! Looks like the top rd got a nice re-pave. Nice backroads in HR, too!
Bid in the amount of $225,000
I've been doing this for 30 years and seen hundreds of examples. Thank you for showing me a photo of that. That is correct. However, your phone does not match the factory ones. They all had special consoles for them. Your option codes from what I can see do not match it either. The strut braces I've all seen that were factory were carbon fiber.

I am uploading a photo of the VIN stamped above the spare wheel well. Also, the sale will come with the air compressor as well as a Porsche branded tire pressure gauge.

@aforest2 the car does have the DSP (680), and I uploaded a photo of it inside the driver door pocket.
As for the brace, I took a few photos of it. Perhaps you (or others) can elaborate more on it. But looking at the torque markings, it appears visually to be consistent with markings on just about every bolt in the frunk.
As for the phone, the build sheet shows Nokia 2110, which does one does appear to be. I uploaded a couple photos as well, it appears to have the original Nokia battery as well which is pretty neat (I've had other 993s with phones but replacement batteries). 993s we're optioned with various phones, some corded and some cordless. But this one does appear to be the genuine Nokia 2110. I included a few photos and a reference of another 993 as well with what appears to be the same Nokia model.
Bid in the amount of $190,000
I also noticed you had it as a Nokia digital sound. Unless you have the sound package in the left door pocket (there are no photos of the inside left door pocket) . 490 refers to the 10 hifi sound. which is the bigger 10 speaker system.
@997M3 just for a point of clarity that is not the factory phone that came with the porsche 993's nor do you have the option code to support it. 610 is the wrong option code. However, the car is just awesome. Other than that it looks factory to me. However, the strut brace does also look different from the factory strut braces ive seen.

@Nosubstitute928 as a mechanical engineer, this is somewhat of a tricky measurement to take because of the continuous and curving nature of the inlet opening. But the most meaningful measurement I made was the bottom portion of the opening is about 40-42mm on the widest portion. As for the length of the opening, again the cut blends itself seamlessly into the fender, I get about 14-14.5cm.
I could make a sketch or maybe mark up a photo later to clarify the measurements for @nosubstitute4porsche
Sorry work has me buried.
Could you send the exterior length and width of the hole possibly width on top third and bottom third.
I was hoping to compare them to the sellers car. I figured that he could post the same measurements.
I’m sure if you have seen some of the comments, there is very little known about the narrow body X79 and since the fenders are smaller, wondered if the air inlet itself in order to be aesthetically similar was also smaller.
Sorry for a slow response.
@Nosubstitute928???????????????????? crickets= you
Oops! Correction (I’m getting old...memory issues!)
My 993 C2S with factory body-kit does NOT have rear fender ducts...although that would be nice. Maybe the wide-body ducts are reserved for the Turbo S?
But, again, my confusion only serves to speak to the unique nature of the car listed here. GLWTA!
What an extraordinarily specced 993.
As a former Santa Barbara resident, I have seen a few gorgeous speed yellow 993s running around, including a speed yellow GT2 which belonged to a gentleman named Sean.
I’m wondering if I saw this 993 C2 around town also? I have a black 1998 993 C2S with a factory Turbo S body-kit, and the ducts in the rear fenders look larger than the ones pictured here in this listing.
Actually, this was the first thing I noticed about the car, which alerted me to the special nature of this extraordinary 993. And then there’s the power-kit.
Lord have mercy!
Rest assured there is no finer 993 on the face of the Earth. The final price will so reflect for the incredibly astute and deep pocketed new owner.

@Nosubstitute928 awesome, the easier might be for you to just send me a DM via Contact Seller?
@997M3 The picture is from a brochure from original Porsche dealership ordering material. I have the image but in this platform, I cannot post it for you. I would have no problem if peak Carr market or you directly emailed me.
Then I could share it, and you could share it on this page.
I don’t think it’ll let me post my email on here and that’s probably not helpful for me either
But I’m certainly happy to share it. If they will let you reach out they have my contact.
Speechless and bidding…
@Nosubstitute928 I really appreciate your wealth of knowledge, am learning a lot from you (and others). Can I ask you when the advertisement regarding the X79 on narrow bodies was from? Would love to know if there were other NB cars with air inlets!
To follow up on the flared fenders, I was told by some serious German Pcar folks that Porsche had to widen the fenders slightly to make the air inlets (but not same wide as a WB). I don't have confirmation however so it's speculative.
you're right of course, pardon my fat finger moment there. The doors/dash are pretty well covered in carbon fiber in this case.
@997M3 The Midnight Blue interior is a beautiful and striking contrast to the Speed Yellow exterior. To clarify however, it does not appear to have the "full leather" option which would cover the dash and door panels as well.
Bid in the amount of $160,000
@Archer1 I read what the seller said a few times.
I’m not going to put words in his mouth because it was a little bit difficult to differentiate specifically what he was saying.
I’ll tell you what I know.
The big oddity on this car is the rear air inlets
Most people have never seen them on a narrow body car.
As I mentioned before they were standard on the turbo S and a lot of times you would see people option them on standard turbos.
Both of those models were widebody.
I found a piece of Porsche advertising that was showing this particular feature available on narrow body cars.
The X 79 done on narrow body cars is probably a total number of less than 20.
Am confused by the sellers comment that you referred to
On the wide body, the rear fenders are the only thing that are wider. I.e. flared.
What’s not even known about this option? Is that the holes for the X 79 option on a narrow body might actually be different and more narrow because the flares or wide rear quarters in the narrow body aren’t as wide.
It would be cool if somebody with access to a 993 turbo S gave us the measurements of the hole, to see if it’s the exact same.

@JJ.Porsche the options on this car does take some time to digest. A subtle one is the full midnight blue leather - I love the look and it's different than the black that usually accommodate the Speed Yellow paint.
@gclaym thank you for the comment! I have been working with PCar Market on revising the listing a bit yesterday/today, but there are still a couple of places where it calls it a Carrera S (title, and two others in the body). Will get it updated so it's consistent.
the turbo aero was likely added somewhere along the exclusive department, the addition was noted on the original registration (see photo 232).
Thank you all for the valuable inputs, I continue to learn from knowledgeable enthusiasts and it's has been a fun and humbling couple of days!
A very interesting and unique car! X51, sport suspension (030), limited slip, sport seats (heated too!), and the hidden gem of an G50/21 gearbox (ROW cars got the same G50/20 as US and Canadian cars some time in calendar year 1996)! All the right performance options along with a LOT of other options.
-As noted by a previous comment, it looks to be currently equipped with solid spoke wheels rather than hollow-spokes.
-I'd suggest this car was initially built for marketing purposes or such. Not sure where the "pre-production/narrow body Carrera S" reference is from.
-Is it possible the Turbo front bumper and rear spoiler were added later as there is no code on the underhood sticker?
With fairly low miles, all the performance options, and many additional special options, this is a great car to buy and enjoy.
@Nosubstitute928- Thanks for the in-depth input, my question was since this is a narrow body car and as such, the rear quarters appear to be of standard narrow body configuration, so what does @ 997M3 (seller) mean by the comment "the X79 option can only be incorporated with flared fenders, which this car has".
IMO the listing should be corrected (it's not a S) or P-Car should just re-list the car. I say this because this car is a true unicorn - as all collectors know public listings are forever associated with a car and the S confusion on this one isn't necessary because it has no bearing on the value - actually, IMO the fact its not a S with X51 and X79 makes it even more valuable. Additionally, the new owner would rather the listing be accurate for numerous issues it could cause in the future. Thats my 2 cents - I'm bidding either way.
@Archer1 If you google search “ Yellow 993 Turbo S “ you we’ll see a wide body that is basically identical to this car except the rear of the car is wider. The turbo S specifically had the rear air intake. The holes that are on the rear quarter panels.
They only made 345 of those cars and there $500,000+
It was the only car that had these rear intakes as standard equipment. Occasionally, you would see someone that had a turbo that would add this option to it.
What’s really crazy about this car is most people have never even seen these rear intakes put on a car that is not a wide body.
I did discover that this wasn’t available factory option.
Still to my knowledge, nobody even knows if these rear air intake holes are actually more narrow than the ones that are on the turbo S because the turbo S has wider quarters and the air inlet might have been too large for the narrow body car.
The other big option is X 51
This is the upgraded power kit.
In 99 sixes and forward you see these options quite a bit the 40th anniversary 996 and then the GTS from the 997
The X 51 was not allowed as a US option because it changed the engine size from 3.6 L to 3.8 L that change meant that they would have to re-inspect the cars in order to import them because it’s not the same engine. So you rarely see this option because they never came to the US now these cars are starting to get imported because of the 25 year rule.
And then you go down a long list of other amazing options.
This car was not built on the line. This was hand built in the special wishes program.
Ok,, can one of you aficionado educate me/us on the difference between rear flares on a narrow vs. a wide body car. Thank you
OK… Now that we got that out of the way, let’s start drooling over this beauty… I am fascinated by the process of specifying this car through Porsche exclusive… Wonder if it was for an executive or something of that nature…
clearly someone wanted a turbo S look but with a naturally aspirated 3.8 engine… The interior particularly on speed yellow is absolutely stunning… Also, I am blown away by how all the carbon bits have with stand the test of time… The steele that is on the gauges that is matched on the gear knob shift… The fact that no one is talking about MO 30 suspension because of the long list of cool options is actually incredible…
truly love seeing cars like this come to market… It’s still even have the phone in it… The car is just making me drool truly special
@JJ.Porsche Agreed
It shines as the coolest 993 C2 build I have ever seen.
X51 by itself is extremely rare as it was not available in the US because they increased the engine size.
I didn’t even know you could get rear flares on a narrow body car.
Those two individual things without even tallying up all of the other cool stuff. Just those two features I have never seen on a 993 before.
It’s legendary it’s one of one
Clean it up because as you so eloquently stated that speculation only hurts this essentially perfect car
@997M3 a true gentleman in the world class guy as I know you… As I said, we all mean well in the car is absolutely stunning. Congratulations on such a fine and I know it’s gonna go to a very, very lucky buyer.
@Nosubstitute928 @JJ.Porsche thank you for your perspectives, I truly appreciate the feedback.
I 100% agree that this is not coded as a Carrera S, because it was built in late 1995. My main goal with the wording was to convey that this car was a pre-production (almost prototype like) inspiration to the S that followed.
I never wanted this topic to take away from the specialness of this car.
I actually reached out to PCar Market early this morning, and am working with the team to see how we can revise the listing to make it more clear. I believe it starts with stating the model as a 911 Carrera, and perhaps adding clarity to the title. I will keep you posted as I wait to hear back from the PCM team, who has been top notch.
Those who know me will tell you I'm not one for theatrics and overstatements. I don't like terms like unicorn or the "one of one" moniker. Special cars really speak for them, we are truly just lucky custodians.
What a gorgeous car, excellent presentation and stunning options. This should be the story.
Now, I have been raised to either say something good or keep my mouth shut. If you look through my past comments here and at BAT : never ever negative. Part of my problem with these auction sites is the keyboard warriors that most likely only can afford to be an exercise the sellers/negatively impact auctions and never have a car to actually enjoy.
However, today, I am going to break my rules a little bit… I’m acquainted with the seller and I can tell you I am sure he means well regarding the entire S topic.
Having been blessed to collect, by, sell these cars and deal with some of the best of the best organizations owners and sellers. I am gonna let my passion get in the way of this posting.
This is a gorgeous 993 Carrera 2. It is equipped with some really incredible and rather unique options from Porsche exclusive as very well documented, and showcased. I mean, find me another 993 C2 that have an X 79, X 51, MO 30, all the carbon… And steel gauges… On and on.
I don’t understand why sometimes people try harder… This is not a Carrera S… It will never be a Carrera S… It is coded as a Carrera 2. Everything else will be a speculation if it’s not documented.
my point here is that something silly like this is taking away not only from how special this build is… But also how clean the car appears… And the topic begins to be this silly tiling that is founded on a speculation to try to raise the specialness of the car when it absolutely doesn’t need it.
I highly recommend to the seller as well as to P Carre market to remove the S from the title, and let the car shine as it deserves.
If we are real enthusiasts that are extremely passionate about this… I do believe that we are not owners rather custodians of these beauties that will far out live us. An important part of our duty is to represent them well and document them as perfect as we can so that they keep moving from generation to generation.
My $.02 : all the best in luck to the seller and congratulation on finding such a special Carrera 2 with gorgeous options and definitely someone here will be super blessed to have a very unique machine.
This car is exquisite and legendary. I’ve never seen these factory options mixed together.
I don’t see anything that designates this car an “ S” model. On the bill sheet it shows.
“ 993 330”
340 is “S”
330 is C2
Not that it really matters other than the title of it.
Nothing, besides the wide body differentiates the 2 vs 2S anyway obviously the rarity of the rear wheel drive widebody.
This car doesn’t need any additional rarity.
How many times do you get a narrow body with turbo S air intake and X 51
I’ve never seen one
How many times do you ever get to see a narrow body turbo look
I’ve never seen one
I did feel like this was a little bit of an inspiration from RUF because it’s narrow body with rear air intakes, and obviously the yellow from the yellow bird.
I’m not disparaging anything from the absolute exquisiteness of this one of one build.
But I just haven’t seen anything that documentation wise shows Carrera S model.
@meiwah98 Sorry just saw the CARFAX, i see Montana.
What state is the registration? Montana ?
Bid in the amount of $150,000
@Nein9 what makes this a narrow body S is the flared fenders as part of the air inlets option. Also, the Turbo aero can only be ordered on a wide body, normally.
But what makes this car truly unique is having X79 air inlets paired with the X51 power kit. That combo automatically makes this car one of a kind.
Super rare. This will be fun to watch. The allure of the S is the wide body.
So to confirm is this a case with a Powerkit making it an S.
Again super cool but i thought what makes an S an S was the wide body. Not a power kit option.
@gclaym you certainly have a rare X79 C2S, it was part of my inspiration when I was offer this car. I will say paring the visuals of X79 with the 3.8L is a phenomenal combo.
@b.trenkamp good eye, I was not with the car during the undercarriage photos. As mentioned before, this car was approved initially with the techno wheels and the sport classics were added for some press photos. I'm wondering if there was a slip up at Porsche when changing them back.
In any case, I would be more than happy to have a set of techno wheels procured for the buyer should this sell.
Bid in the amount of $110,000
I own a 993 CS X79 and I thought it was rare - I stand corrected
@997M3 Photos showing the backside of the wheels (photo #266 for example) would indicate the solid spoke version. The hollow-spoke wheel has a smooth backside to the spokes. Perhaps the hollow-spokes are not on the car in those photos? Appreciate the clarification!
Lets get this thing moving. 100k seems like a minimum bid to me for this BEAUT! If ya'll disagree, feel free to move along and let me have it for 100!

@ERLY911 thank you! I do think this car was displayed previously at car shows, but don't currently have any photos to confirm. However, I'm adding a photo from a mid-1996 Exclusive & Tequipment brochure with a Speed Yellow 993 with Turbo aero and side inlets wearing Sport Classic II wheels. I do believe that print is of this car, especially because the original German registration has the 18" Sport Classic II wheels added as a second set (to the Techno wheels).
@b.trenkamp the original Techno wheels are still on the car, as shown.
Let’s get this moving, everyone. I’m very eager to see how much I can’t afford this! GLWA

Great 993. Do you know if the car was displayed by Porsche at any major shows or events?
Welcome to my auction for this special 993! I appreciate all the interest so far and I look forward to more engagement over the next week.
I wanted to briefly discuss what makes this car a special narrow body pre-production Carrera S, as this has been something PCar Market and myself have been deliberating over the past few days.
-X79 air inlets are offered exclusively on the wide body cars for the 993 generation. This is the only known X79 example built on the narrow body platform, and I understand this option was not available to the public. To my best knowledge, the X79 option can only be incorporated with flared fenders, which this car has (and it's the reason X79 was not offered for normal NB cars).
-Turbo-look front and back aerokits were never offered for NB cars, and on this car they were installed and explicitly added to the original German title/registration paperwork (see registration photo added to gallery). The only aerokit available for normal NBs were the RS-look front/back.
The list description captures the uniqueness of this NB pre-production Carrera S, which was built about 1.5 years before any 993 C2S's were built. Porsche engineers wanted a press/promotional vehicle to showcase the best exclusive options ahead of the arrival of the WBs, and the result is essentially a C2S with a NB platform, which was the only chassis available at the time. This was meant to be a show-off car for the 993 platform at the end of 1995, and by combining the very exclusive options available, I believe Porsche AG made a true statement with this car.
Regardless of the NB/WB discussion, this car is so unique, and is truly one of a kind. That's the true message I hope to convey with the presentation here.
WOW!! So what makes this an S when there’s no WB or split grill?
@Sbani123 80Km is only 49K miles ...someone always has something "smart" to say.....find another champ!
Looks like it lost the hollow-spoke Technology wheels at some point?
Don’t get me wrong…I love it thst someone has enjoyed driving it as meant!!!
An absolute collector car with ~80,000 km on it!
How wonderful is that?
Holy sh… Wow. Just wow.
I’m speechless…what a unicorn!
