This 1996 Porsche 993 Carrera Coupe is finished in Polar Silver over Black leather and pairs a 6-speed manual transmission with its air-cooled flat-six. An engine rebuild was completed about 100 miles ago, increasing displacement to 3.8L with Mahle pistons and cylinders, along with new camshaft components, a new fuel injector, and more. The clutch was replaced within the last 5k miles, and additional services were performed. This Carrera is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Illinois. Factory-specified in Polar Silver, this Coupe features projector headlamps with washers, fog lights, power-adjustable mirrors, Porsche-branded brake calipers, a speed-activated rear spoiler, and dual exhaust outlets. The ride height has been lowered, and the 17” Cup 2 wheels are fitted with colored Porsche crest center caps. The seller notes previous paintwork and repairs, confirming no Bondo was used. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The Black leather interior includes a power sunroof, power windows, and an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat. An aluminum and carbon fiber shift knob and brake handle are also equipped. The seller notes the driver’s seat was reupholstered at approximately 40k miles, and the stereo system is currently inoperable.
The air-cooled flat-six was reportedly rebuilt approximately 100 miles ago to a 3.8L displacement using Mahle 993 RSR pistons, cylinders, and camshaft components. At that time, a new fuel injector, starter, engine coil, and clutch slaves were installed. The clutch has been replaced twice, most recently within the last 5,000 miles at approximately 50k miles. The alternator was replaced within the past few years, approximately 2,000 miles ago.
This sale will include a clean title, owner’s manuals, a toolkit, and a spare tire.

As for “no Bondo was used” - that's a comment generated by PCar not me (it may be a “?” on the initial listing form). I seriously doubt North Shore Auto Rebuilders is using bondo on ANY cars. They’re a top notch family business been in the business for a couple generations, and Bernie and his son Steve both own 993s. They restore 100 yr old gems - and as rare and exotic as they get . Loeber Porsche among other dealers uses NSAR for body work. From what I can remember, the front bumper was repainted a couple of times and a rear fender, and one of the headlight “ports”. I watched him work the metal on that repair - I was totally impressed. Restore to its original shape. They replaced the rubber bumpers, and the plastic grill on the engine lid was also replaced. The drivers door - it has a chip on the edge right now that was a wind event (pull was pulled open), and it’s shown in the gallery. That had been repaired before. I’ve witnessed Steve repair a similar chip same sort of spot on my wife’s Merceds. 5 minutes later it was like it was never there. I had North Shore totally repaint my 997S that I sold two months ago after a trailer hitch on an suv punched a hole thru the front bumper and bent the hood. I also had a ‘72 “RS” repainted in gulf blue that I sold on BAT in 2019. I love a beautiful paint job, but I’m also not ever overly concerned with dings and nicks, and if I decide I want to “clean it up” I never expect the paint be perfect. A paint pro can usually tell if a car has been touched up or spot/area painted. I’ve left my other ‘72 “RS” that I bought in ‘11 - I have left the paint untouched and sort of prefer the battle marks. The 928 GRS I sold was all orig paint had some nice and marks didn’t consider doing any work. I realized yesterday just how much i’d put into this 993 over the years when I was taking pics of the receipts. Of my ability to 911 returns, I’m more than happy to buy this car back from whoever buys it.
i have 993 in same color (Polar Silver) and it appears that Seller has the same problem as I do - the rear wheel flare protection decal ("RWFPD") is old, pitted and yellowed. From what I have learned, for all colors except Polar Silver, Porsche installed RWFPDs that were clear. However, for Polar Silver, the RWFPD is actually Polar Silver. I have no idea why they did this. Perhaps because the decal yellows in the sun? At this point, almost 30 years after they ceased 993 production, 993 RWFPD s are available from Porsche and many aftermarket providers in clear, but not in Polar Silver. So, one options are: 1) leave the original in place even if it is yellowed and pitted, 2) replace it with clear which would work but not be correct, or 3) custom paint a clear RWFPD polar silver. It an annoying First World Problem!

So I went ahead and took pics of all the RE pair receipts other than those I had previously added and are present in the gallery. You should see the progression of mileage. The car had a lot less drive time beginning in 2008 - I just remembered I was in Texas from period 08 thru April 09 and the same period 09-10. Car was here with the 997. Beginning in 2011 began acquiring more cars, so a lot less, negligible driving amounts. Included in the receipts are the Lynch Porsche - you can see the other auto line emblems on all those receipts. Man I’ve spent a lot of money on the car over the years. It’s been well taken care of. I’d only have proper mechanics work on it, and those were Exotic Foreign who also helped me with my RS and all sorts of parts he’d collected over the years. He closed shop in 2010, and of course G Design-! Lastly - winning bidder will get copies of the receipts photographed. I will need the originals for the irs filing, so those will be kept.

@PorschePhanatic That was all Lynch Porsche on Irving Park Road, they also sold the other auto lines. The car was intially serviced there, then with Exotic Foreign Cars (where the parts collection was put to use), Midwest Performance after EFC closed the shop, and then Midwest Performance Cars, and lastly G Design Racing who repladed the alternator, and did the 3.8 conversion and other work. i loaded the same pics to the gallery that were sent to CarFax, along with their response, and there is a link in my earlier comments if Pcar hasn't been able to replace the Carfax reports. The relevant time period receipts don't have any mileage denoted. i've loaded the receipts that have the mileage denoted from the past dozen+ years. All of the receipts are in the binder, and don't see the relevance of any but for what's been loaded. the car has been in the shop with the repair/expansion project and storage next to the shop since 2019. I don't think its been registered since 2020. I i'll look to see what other receipts i can photo and add from say 2010 on. i acquired the car in 1998, and i am the 2nd owner.

@fastman72.
Can you share service history to substantiate the correction of the mileage? Also- do you know why the car was serviced at a Jeep dealer for many years vs a Porsche dealer or specialist? Was that before your ownership? Was that not a cause for concern.
Thanks
Again can you remind us what year you acquired this car - are you the 2nd or 3rd owner? You also mentioned some bodywork - what was the reason for the repair. Are there pictures of the paint meter? Still curious enough to bid and consider buying!
i have also added photos of the email and the carfax page that was in question to the photo gallery

Positive news from Carfax. They've removed the error on the report that showed a 173k mile entry from an Emissions station here. The last mileage entry would have been rounded up.

thanks for the well wishes. I was hit by a car going 40 as a pedestrian in college during a snowstorm, and the back injury from it set me up for the disc hernias. i am in solid shape, but you get older, the longer to recover, and the dirt bike / car accidents and the sports injuries begin to reveal themselves again.
I so wish I could make a play for this one...done just the way I love them.
Also, my condolences on the back injuries. I have had two lower back surgeries so far and I suspect I may need more before this life is over, so I know how hard it can be. Best wishes!
Sorry about your back, such a bummer. I was in the same spot. I read this book and it changed my life. Passing along to you in case helpful. https://a.co/d/dgH30Vw

Of note, the original Blauplunkt stereo radio cassette unit with a 6 cd changer (in trunk) stopped working at some point over the past year to 18 months. The unit was working through some point that the engine work was done or the past year it's been sitting in the warehouse. It's likely repairable, possibly not. I have seen advertised nice retro period correct looking units that have gps and other modern features. I was surprised it went as long as it did, and surprised the security code to unlock it didn't appear when i pressed the buttons. My six rare cds are still in the cd jacket in changer in trunk. Just be aware the stereo system is not working. More than likely the unit that's in the car, the changer may still work if the stereo cassette player works. Everything else is in solid shape, working, and i've attached the receipts for the engine work, fuel injector, engine coil, clutch slav. Have complete repair file, found the two emissions receipts in the glovebox two weeks ago when i went out to the shop.
Some back history: 2007 i bought a 997S as my primary driver and in 2011 i began buying more Porsches. I had 9 cars when i started pairing down in 2018, and in 2020 i injured my back again and i had back surgery (my 2nd) in early 2021. I haven't done any 911 driving since then. It's painful to drive, and frankly its emotionally painful not to drive, especially my long timer. Been driving them since i could drive, and i've had this one for 27 years. I reinjured my back a year+ ago and my surgeon doesn't recommend a 3rd so i'm giving up on the wait and see for the time being. I sold a 997 S a few months ago, and plan to sell an '70's RS hot rod in the next couple months. This is the best all around damn car i've ever owned. I didn't get to enjoy any of that 3.8. Someone will. Good luck bidding.
I have an appeal in process with carfax. The emissions receipts that were supplied to car fax before and after the error date have been provided in the photos. I also provided a pic of a printed copy of the email from carfax that the investigation is in process. I fully expect the entry to be removed by carfax.

@Super33garage If you look at the previous listing it appears to be a clerical error. Unfortunately, 993 DMEs don't log mileage like the later cars do so it couldn't be proven via a scan.
