We are pleased to offer this exceptional 1996 Porsche 993 Carrera 4S Coupe finished in Arena Red over a black leather interior.  Accompanied by books, tools, and the original window sticker, this two-owner example has been driven sparingly throughout its life and is now being offered with only 20,966 miles showing on the odometer by its seller in Pennsylvania.

The Arena Red finish on this Carrera 4S is said to remain in very nice original condition with a recent professional multi-stage detail performed. See the photo gallery for detailed images and paint meter readings.  From the factory, this 993 highlights a wide-body derived from the Turbo and 18” alloy wheels currently dressed in Bridgestone tires dated 2008.  Offered in an impeccably clean state, this ’96 C4S makes the ideal candidate for a discerning collector's garage.

Inside, you will find a black leather interior that shows to be in excellent condition.  A few noteworthy factory options include automatic speed control, power seats, and the HiFi Sound Package.  All gauges and electronics are stated to be in good working order including the aftermarket head unit.

This Carrera 4S is powered by a 3.6 L flat-six engine that puts out 282 HP to all four wheels by way of a 6-speed manual transmission. Additionally, this example is factory equipped with the Motor Sound Package which adds a more resonant airbox and louder mufflers.  All routine maintenance has been kept up to date including a recent oil change with new filters.

This sale will include two keys, original books, service records, an original window sticker, tools, an air pump, and a clean Carfax report.

@nosubstitute4porsche she’s a beauty. Good job keeping it in the condition she’s in. Glad you and buyer are happy. See you all around. Be well. God bless.

  • nosubstitute4porsche (seller) 4 yearsago

@userabc123 @Hartclay this one more than checks the boxes for originality and it makes up for a lack of options with the condition and its keeper, the being me. Unless of coarse you didn't bid because of the original radio..lol

@Narbeh agree with your comments. Options and originality count for a lot.

@userabc123 @Hartclay I think non aero cars are more desirable. This one is nice but not very highly optioned. Had it had sport seats and perhaps litronics and classic radio installed would have pushed me to bid even higher.

under the money here. Non aero wing may be holding it back a bit. Best of luck. Great car

@siabond26 Thank you.. It is worth it to me, I have been following low mile air cooled for some time now, and although some ads say"none finer" or "best available" etc. etc etc,I think this car warrants what others are demanding, thats my opinion and others are entitled to theirs. No disrespect to others meant, I am just stating the obvious. Thank you again all bidders and question askers. If this car isn't for you or you are limited for whatever reason best of luck in your search. Checkback often to PCAR MKT..

@Stevodevo hello and thank you for what appears to be interest in my car. I hope this helps put you at ease as far as the cars condition?
    1) The a/c functions correctly and it is "cold"
2 ) You are correct there isn't any "rust" on the engine bay near the lid", or anywhere else.
    3) I do not know if it will pass Ca. emissions but I cannot see why it wouldn't it is a stock car that has never been modified.
    4) REALLY lol? Did you see the pictures? the car has ONLY been parked indoors and never spent even one overnight outdoors since I have owned it.I do not take my cars like this out in the rain either(just a fun fact)
    5) Everything works correctly sir. the interior looks better in person than the pictures show. I apologize for the drivers side floor the towel I use to wipe off my feet was in the wash and the floor mats were recently cleaned and I didn't want to get them dirty. This area has been cleaned up and a clean towel has been placed there to stop this from happening. I hope this helps.
    6) Since I have owned the car I have replaced the rear tires a couple years back, and I believe the fronts also. I have had the oil changed using mobil one, changed the two filters(several times) and have had brake fluid changed, hand washed the car, vacuumed the car, cleaned the windows(both sides) lubed the hinges etc, and had it detailed a couple times all by a mechanic that I use on a weekly basis at my garage or his. The car is brought up to temperature at minimum once a month from December 1st thru March 1st while it is in storage in my heated temperature and humidity controlled garage.I also bring the tire pressure up to 50 #'s for storage and then in spring I drive it for a bit and then lower pressure to recommended pressure. This was suggested by a gentlemen at RUF in Germany who is fairly experienced in this area.I also put a couple batteries in the car. I only have the records that cam with the car but if you were to see the car in person you would agree it is a spoiled child.I only used the highest octane SUNOCO fuel available that now being 93 or 94 octane. HAPPY FRIDAY!

To the seller, thanks for all the detailed info so far. A few addl questions. I didn’t see them discussed earlier:
    1- how’s the AC? Cold?
2- in the pictures of the engine bay, right below the lid, there appears to be a black something and in a few places, look like rust. I’m guessing that’s not it but could you confirm?
3- do you know if it’ll pass Calif. emissions?
4- Has the car been mostly parked indoors/garage or outdoors?
5- is there anything that’s not functioning? Even the smallest item?
6- the carfax records only go up to 4/2016. Could you tell us what’s been done to the car since and do you have all of the service records?
Apologies for all the questions but it would be helpful to me and maybe to others. Thanks and happy thanksgiving!

  • illerucis (registered bidder) 4 yearsago

@tuto13 It’s shame that you took the time to write an essay flaming potential bidders on this wonderful car, presented by a more than cordial and responsive seller. You have no idea who will come in during the final hour of an auction. Cheers.

  • tuto13 4 yearsago

hello, i am sorry for interjecting, but some issues raised here by potential buyers re just plain silly. This is a 24 year old car with 20K miles on it. Whether you feel like it may need some maintenance/service is only for you to consider. The seller has taken great care of the car. It shows. Whether there are hidden gremlins in it, or any other car in this auction site for that matter, is your responsibility as a buyer. I do not understand people who want a perfect 24 year car. The seller has promised a good car. If you are in this venue, you pretty much agree to buy the car sight unseen, unless you go visit or get your PPI. End of discussion. "has the car been driven 100 miles in a day/" "when was the last time the tank was filled up?" What is that? And, worst yet, most of the people asking questions like that are not bidders! Give me a break. Of course, once they read a comment like mine they hide behind the keyboard and say "FYI I was going to bid, but I did not feel comfortable because such and such...". Please. The car looks awesome. Looks honest. Bid on it with due diligence, but please do not ask silly, immaterial questions... Some other person says he would love to bid on the car, but he/she has some doubts about buying a car sight unseen... then DON'T! Why waste time with such comments? It's as bad as the guy who tells you "I am buying this car, I just need to talk to wife. You know, she is the boss, and I need her approval". Translation: I can't afford your car but I am going to play along anyways, because it gives me soothing to do". Happy Thanksgiving.

  • nosubstitute4porsche (seller) 4 yearsago

@356rehab I do not however if that is all that is stopping you from making a bid that takes the car I will get you one IF YOU WIN. They are readily available. I like the sound of the alpine WHEN I AM NOT LISTENING TO THE MOTOR, and there is a CD player behind the detachable face. I HAVE THE CASE FOR THE ALPINE HEAD THAT DETATCHES. I was suppose to either get the original radio from the seller I got the car from or I was suppose to buy it, I can't remember.
"You miss 100% of the shots you don't take" Wayne Gretzky. best to you.

  • nosubstitute4porsche (seller) 4 yearsago

@illerucis you will not be disappointed .. im not sure what else I can do to assure you. Best of luck.

  • 356rehab (registered bidder) 4 yearsago

Seller-do you have the original radio?

  • illerucis (registered bidder) 4 yearsago

@nosubstitute4porsche yes, I am strongly considering bidding on this. I have a few concerns as I won’t be able to see the car in person before I buy, and I won’t be able to get a PPI done before the auction ends.

  • nosubstitute4porsche (seller) 4 yearsago

    @SmallDogMotorsports ,
THANK YOU and HAPPY THANKSGIVING to you and your family.
Winter driving IF AND ONLY IF they didn't start putting any chemicals down. Once the chemicals go down no driving until heavy rains clean the roads off.
I believe I put new rear tires on a couple years back.
Last year I went to the Delaware water Gap(59 miles each way)and the year before I went to Watkins Glen New York(115 miles each way).
I only put enough gas to complete the trip without running out.
Zero concerns using it as a daily driver, ZERO.

  • SmallDogMotorsports (registered bidder) 4 yearsago

    Happy Thanksgiving -
Have you done any winter driving in the car since it left Texas?
When was the last time tires were replaced?
When was the last time the vehicle has done 100 miles in a day?
When was the gas tank last filled?
Do you have any concerns around using this car as a daily driver?
    Thanks in advance

  • nosubstitute4porsche (seller) 4 yearsago

@illerucis Thank you and HAPPY THANKSGIVING to you and your family.
The engine lid does not, I repeat does not have any imperfections. There are several stone chips on the front(plastic) bumper, that will not show up in pictures, and you can see the pictures are fairly detailed too. My opinion ,and I have seen it done, is that a talented paint expert would be able to fill in the "imperfections" above the height of the finished paint, sand or buff it down to the correct height and voila no more imperfections. I do have the porsche touch up paint however it is unused but does go with the car. The paint imperfections never bothered me enough to have the chips remedied, am I am quite picky. What also conveys to the new owner is the factory tool kit, gloves, kneeling mat, jack, complete air pump with fittings .The Car is as the pictures show and actually is nicer in person. Once you drive it the paint "imperfections" will be taken over by the feeling you attain in a 993! If I may suggest, bid to own it as you will most likely be waiting a long time to find another in this color combination, with these low miles and condition that is realistically priced. Are you a bidder sir?

  • illerucis (registered bidder) 4 yearsago

Happy Thanksgiving! Seller — can you call out any imperfections in the paint? Stone chips, scratches, etc. I find it hard to tell from the photos. It looks like there’s something at the 5 o’clock to the “4S” on the engine lid. Hard to tell.

@illerucis THANK YOU . I only took a couple of the underside shots. DYLAN and his friend from car mkt came up to see my garage, they get the picture credits. The interior is really nice as well and as mentioned the car was not really camera ready as they took time from their weekend to come to Pa. from Long Island for the pictures. The team at pcar mkt are real car people and they are extremely professional . They didn't have professional equipment either just a great talented guy with a great subject, ARENA RED C4S!

  • illerucis (registered bidder) 4 yearsago

@nosubstitute4porsche thanks! Will be following this closely.

I’ve seen a 993 C4S AR in person ... the color is unreal and the wide body 993s are really something else. Very hard to photography these cars, although you’ve done a great job.

  • nosubstitute4porsche (seller) 4 yearsago

@illerucis Thank you for your interest, it is very much appreciated sir. You can be assured that the car has 100% original paint. I have been told by people who have vast experience in cars and their paint that "unbuffed areas" will meter higher than areas that have not. The multi step detail was performed by a local gentleman who is super careful, and the car meters the same after his detail as it did prior, he is super careful and does it for the love of paint! The car meters as shown. It has zero paintwork.I am happy to put you in touch with him if you like, his name is carl. Please let me know.
The car has no.. as in zero seepage, I can assure you with the same assurance of the car having 100% original paint.
I have nothing to hide and i am completely transparent.
I do not want to drive the price up to the atmosphere I simply want the new keeper of this car to be happy and to enjoy it in good health.By the same token I will not give the car away as their are few, if any out there as nice. If you were to see it you would agree with me, I am super positive about that.Thank you again and please bid with confidence, the car is FANTASTIC, and I am very, very critical when it comes to nit picking. THANK YOU

  • illerucis (registered bidder) 4 yearsago

@nosubstitute4porsche the paint looks like it meters a little high in some areas (passenger quarter panel is 7.5, looks like passenger rear bumper is around the same). was there any repaint or paint correction done in those areas? I keep seeing "multi-step detail" on the exterior but what does that exactly mean?

also ... low-mileage air-cooled cars are exciting but the oil tends to seep and leak if the car is sitting around and not driven. if the cam towers are leaking the engine would need to come out for the repair.

I'd love to bid on this but ideally we get some more detail, like the results of a PPI, or even just some mention from the seller that the car was inspected and these problems are not present. little things like that could really drive up the price into the atmosphere.

  • nosubstitute4porsche (seller) 4 yearsago

All I am available to answer any remaining questions, have a gr8 THANKSGIVING ALL!!

  • nosubstitute4porsche (seller) 4 yearsago

@Narbeh Yes we can schedule someone to view the car on your behalf. I would be open to a ppi of coarse. I will not leave the car at the facility you pick for the ppi. I will need to be with the car while it is being inspected. Thank you for your understanding in advance. When is a good time to discuss for you?

@nosubstitute4porsche very nice. I am in La Cañada myself. One exit past ACH. I go up to newcombs ranch all the time. Would love for the next trip to be with an arena red c4s. Check your messages I’d like to see if we can have a set of eyes do a PPI on the car for me.

  • nosubstitute4porsche (seller) 4 yearsago

@Narbeh .. crazy story, I have been there ,I have a relative who resided at 8725 EVENING CANYON ROAD in La Canada That is toward the top I believe. This was before I had a p car. On the weekends guys and girls would crank up that hwy on their sport bikes, the sound was intoxicating to say the least!! My mom stayed with them while she attended U.S.C. I visited at some point after my moms passing. My cousin who lived there's name is Kaegi. She is a retired school teacher..

  • Narbeh (registered bidder) 4 yearsago

@nosubstitute4porsche yes we do. We live at the bottom of Angeles Crest Highway. One of the best roads in So Cal.

  • nosubstitute4porsche (seller) 4 yearsago

    @Narbeh let me ponder that suggestion. I'm not sure about up in the revs though I would like to leave that for the new owner. I do like the sound above 5k though... I get out your way quite often and we recently did a drive with some friends from O. C. up to Sonoma via st Louis Obisbo, and Monterey etc. You do have some great roads for sure. :>}

  • Narbeh (registered bidder) 4 yearsago

@nosubstitute4porsche what would be nice is a driving video. Get her up to temp and up in the revs and through the gears. ?

  • Narbeh (registered bidder) 4 yearsago

@nosubstitute4porsche I’m viewing from Los Angeles buddy. Would have loved to be local to stop by. I have a number in mind and will be watching closely. Best of luck.

  • nosubstitute4porsche (seller) 4 yearsago

@Narbeh , I do not have either, I thought I mentioned about not having the compression check earlier today. I am not sure that a PPI performed for someone else would suffice a different buyer or am I wrong again? If I didn't answer your previous question today about the compression check I apologize. When would you like to come see it? We are going to have some nice weather this weekend. Thank you in advance for your understanding.. I apologize again but I also didn't see your bid. Perhaps there is a glitch in the system. Nevertheless this car will not disappoint, ask the gentlemen from car mkt who took the pictures.. Let me know if you would like to see it in person please? THAKNK YOU again

  • Narbeh (registered bidder) 4 yearsago

@nosubstitute4porsche i would love to take a trip to come by. Do you have any PPI report or compression test done?

  • nosubstitute4porsche (seller) 4 yearsago

@Narbeh Please keep in mind this is a naturally aspirated motor as his AUDI was turbocharged.. just a note. You are welcome to come see.

  • Narbeh (registered bidder) 4 yearsago

@KvN I share the concern with not being driven as often as it perhaps should have been. Always a concern for what awaits in these air cooled motors once you do start driving them and run into a hefty project/repair bill. This one is super clean though. Watching closely. Good luck to all!

  • nosubstitute4porsche (seller) 4 yearsago

@KvN Your math is spot on sir. If my math is correct I drove this car a little more than three times more than you drove your audi. Thank you for your experience. If you are questioning anything that I have shown or posted I only can suggest that if you are in fact interested, to come and see it for yourself. I believe/ guarantee if I may, that the new owner will be extremely happy with this car. The exterior just received a multi step detail along with the aforementioned oil and filters(2) change. And yes the porsche recommended mobil one full synthetic was used, again as always thank you

  • KvN (registered bidder) 4 yearsago

So by my calculation, this lovely 993 has done (only) 1,397 miles since last change of ownership in 2013. That works out to a paltry 199.6 miles A YEAR. @nosubstitute4porsche please correct me if I am wrong.

Now the vehicle looks to be in very good shape, but I have to put it out there to the greater PC knowledge base: can't that kind of (non) actually be harmful to a car?

Speaking from experience, I owned a very nice 1988 Audi 100 Turbo Quattro purchased in Vancouver in 2000. In 2003, I drove it to Toronto over an Easter weekend and then basically parked it in my underground downtown condo for the next 14 years. In those intervening years, I had purchased 2 other brand new vehicles - a Merc then a Range Rover - so never really got the Audi out much more than 100 kms a year, tops... In 2017 I sold the condo it was parked in so got rid of the car too.

To get it ready for sale, I had to redo the entire fuel system. There were corrosion problems IN THE TANK and all sorts of other issues too over those years: struts, trim rubbers, gaskets, grommets, boots, bonnet/boot struts, points, alternator etc. etc. etc.

I was told by my very experienced Audi guy (who also happened to be from Germany) that "you should have been driving this vehicle".

Thanks in advance and GLWS of your Arena peach.

Wow, very nice car. I own its 1997 twin. Have always wondered what are the production numbers of the Arena Red/triple Black combination. Most Arena Red cars seem to come with either Classic Grey or Cashmere interiors. 20K miles will only add to the value of this car. GLWA
