One of just 306 North American Cabriolets built for the 968’s final year of production, this 1995 example is among Porsche’s very last transaxle sports cars. It comes finished in Aventurine Green Metallic over black leather upholstery and features a 6-speed manual transmission, an optional limited-slip differential, cruise control, air conditioning, and more. Acquired by the seller in 2023, this meticulously maintained 968 is now being offered for auction out of Georgia accompanied by a host of service documentation.
This 968 is finished in Aventurine Green Metallic (L39S) and features a black convertible soft top and boot cover. Other equipment includes pop-up headlights, fog lights, black-painted brake calipers with white Porsche lettering, and 16” 5-spoke alloy wheels with optional colored Porsche crests. Michelin Pilot Sport tires from 2023 and 2024 are mounted, measuring 205/55 and 225/50 front and rear, respectively. The convertible top cables were replaced in 2021, and detailed images are provided in the gallery along with an accident-free CARFAX report.
Inside, the driver is greeted with black leather upholstery. Accessories include a leather-wrapped four-spoke steering wheel, a leather-covered shifter, power windows and door locks, cruise control, air conditioning, and an upgraded Alpine head unit. The seller states a replacement odometer, reportedly calibrated to reflect accurate mileage, was installed at 57,357 miles. The CARFAX report indicates a “Not Actual Mileage” title was issued in 2010 under a previous ownership.
Power comes from a naturally aspirated 3.0-liter inline four-cylinder engine rated at 236 HP and 225 lb-ft of torque. The rear wheels are driven by way of a 6-speed manual transaxle. Significant service, including attention to the cam belt, tensioners, motor mounts, and water pump, was completed before 2020 at approximately 66k to 71k miles shown. A collection of service records is provided in the gallery, and no outstanding maintenance items have been reported.
This sale will include a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “This car has been very well cared for and maintained. It’s a really terrific example of the last of Porsche’s transaxle cars and the first iteration of the VarioCam engine. EVERYTHING on this car is original and works as it should. Further, its appearance is equal to its operation, and you won’t find many in this color combination, which is striking. This is one of six 1995 968s that were produced in Aventurine Green Metallic, combined with the black top and interior, and it is #2002 out of 2008 968s produced in the last model year. I have thoroughly enjoyed owning the car, but I'm selling it because I've accumulated too many cars over the past couple of years and, unfortunately, I’m not able to drive them as they should be. A new owner will love the way the engine pulls, the smooth 6-spd, and great ride – especially with the top down!”

@MAC21672 I just uploaded two invoices dealing with that repair. Although it was briefly stated in the main auction write-up, I want to point out specifically that, although the repairs do not have many miles on them (only approximately 2,000 miles), they were done in 2018 - 2019 and some might think they are now, like the owner of the car, "aged".

do you have documentation of the last timing belt & associated parts replacement?
Bummer about the odometer failure -- but your are right, this is a very common problem. It happens if a driver tries to reset the trip odometer while the car is moving. It can break/strip the plastic gears of the odo, which then makes the odo stop rotating. The gear then needs to be replaced.
Doesn't look like anything too weird on this car, just that those odo gears got stripped and replaced. But its going to make the actual milage TMU.
@HWA Thanks for your question on the title. As has been the case with a number of 968s, this one suffered an odometer failure in 2009 at 57,357 miles. The old odometer was replaced with one, I am informed, that was calibrated to the correct mileage at the time. I do not know any more details, but the state of Ohio (where the car was registered) may have identified some discrepancy. This was not a case of “rollback” or other intentional misstatement and the current Georgia title is NOT branded. I have just uploaded a copy of the invoice for the repair.

Why does Carfax list this car with a Branded Title? I am not seeing a discrepency. Please advise.
Welcome to the auction of my 1995 Porsche 968. I'll be here throughout the auction and will try to answer questions promptly. This car is ready to drive and enjoy and I'm really hoping it will "go to a good home" where it will be enjoyed and maintained as it has in the past. Thanks for your interest!
