Often regarded as the ultimate naturally aspirated air-cooled Porsche 911, the 993 Carrera RS was created as a road-going homologation version of the Carrera Cup 3.8 RSR race car. It features a seam-welded bodyshell housing a special 3.8-liter M64/20 flat-six engine paired with a 6-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Finished in Polar Silver Metallic over a Black interior, this 1995 example is one of 1,104 produced in total. It was originally delivered to Japan and is equipped with Clubsport front and rear spoilers, Recaro cloth racing seats, a four-spoke airbag steering wheel, air conditioning, and a cassette stereo. Imported and registered in the U.K. in 2023, this Carrera RS underwent a recent service and is now being offered for auction with approximately 47k kilometers (29k miles) showing on the odometer.
The 993 Carrera RS uses a modified version of the contemporary Carrera 2 bodyshell with seam welding and extra reinforcements for rigidity. It comes without a sunroof, power mirrors, or a rear window defroster, and includes side skirts, rolled wheel arches, and thinner glass windows than a standard Carrera. This example is finished in Polar Silver Metallic and equipped with Clubsport front and rear spoilers. Other equipment includes orange side marker lights, clear corner lenses, dual exhaust outlets, red brake calipers, and 18” Speedline three-piece wheels. The seller indicates the Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tires are from 2012 and that paint meter readings show thicker measurements on the front hood and rear quarter panels. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The Carrera RS features a lightweight interior without rear seats, sound-deadening material, or power door locks. This example is fitted with cloth-trimmed Recaro bucket seats, a leather four-spoke airbag steering wheel, drilled aluminum pedal covers, red door pull straps, power windows, air conditioning, and a Porsche CR-2 cassette stereo.
The Carrera RS is equipped with a 3.8-liter M64/20 flat-six engine featuring lightweight forged pistons, dual oil coolers, a VarioRam intake manifold, and Bosch Motronic engine management. This setup delivers up to 300 HP and 262 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 6-speed G50/31 manual transmission, which includes a limited-slip differential and RS-specific gear ratios. The Carrera RS shares its fixed 4-piston brakes and 322mm cross-drilled rotors with the 911 Turbo and comes with a lowered sports suspension that includes Bilstein dampers, adjustable anti-roll bars, and a front strut brace. Additionally, the car is equipped with ABS-5 and an Automatic Braking Differential (ABD) as standard. A maintenance history log is provided for reference in the gallery along with a service invoice from May 2024 showing replacements of the brake pads and rotors, distributor caps and leads, front control arms, drop links, a fuel filter, a brake fluid flush, and new transmission fluid.
This sale will include owner’s manuals, a window sticker, service invoices, and MOT documentation.

Was this car bouncing off the rev limiter? It was only 18 seconds in from the start-up.
@40FGT. Do you have pictures of the turnwald sticker on spoiler and pictures of speedlines for Porsche on the wheels. Lastly, the build sticker that normally comes under the frunk…but Japanese cars may not have had them…
Was the start up video a "cold start"? Am I the only one who noticed this?
this is the spec that makes the most sense- clubsport aero, but still has AC and power windows. love it.
@F40GT This engine has VarioRAM as shown on the intake manifold.
VarioRAM is part of a progressive intake system of the intake manifold.
It has absolutely nothing to do with the CAM timing.
You can read about this anywhere on the internet.
These engines have "VarioRam" not "VarioCam"; variable length intake runners versus variable cam timing. None of the air cooled engines had variable cam timing.
Please see uploaded picture of the VarioCam marking on the inlet
Additional content has been added to the gallery for this listing.
@drb930
Yes this does have VarioCam variable valve timing.
Please see attached picture.
I understand these were used in the later 964’s and then all the 993’s to include the 993 Carrera RS
@Greggers13 Yes 1st 993 with VarioRam...note v. cool magnesium plenum on this RS vs. aluminum alloy on '96-'98 cars!
@F40GT Re: street legality except California...any chance of some undercarriage pictures + paint meter readings?
Also, 993 RS does have vario ram. it was the first model of 993 to get it. later 993's (96+) then got it.
Love my 993 RS. Same spec. same color etc. Also from Japan. The seats look aftermarket on this car. Do you have the original ones? just curious.
Does not have the " VarioCam variable valve timing" stated in the listing.
