Representing the culmination of Porsche’s air-cooled 911 lineage, this 1995 Porsche 993 Carrera 4 Cabriolet pairs a 6-speed manual transmission with its 3.6-liter flat-six engine. Finished in Black over a Cashmere interior, it was meticulously maintained by a single owner before being acquired by their spouse. This garage-stored open-top Carrera 4 is now being offered for auction on behalf of the seller out of Wisconsin.

The exterior is finished in Black (A1) and features a replacement convertible soft top installed in 2022. Equipment includes a speed-activated rear spoiler, a distinctive “basket handle” fixed rear spoiler with an integrated third brake light, fog lights, and dual exhaust outlets. The car rides on 17” Cup 2 wheels mounted with Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 tires from 2021 and 2022, showing approximately 9/32” of tread at the front and 8/32” at the rear. The seller states that the recently removed genuine Porsche hood protector was in place since new, and a single-stage buff was performed in preparation for the sale. Very minor imperfections are noted. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The Cashmere and Black partial leather interior features the optional Power Seat Package and Cashmere Porsche-lettered floor mats. Other amenities include power and heated side mirrors, automatic speed control, and central locking. A small switch for a radar detector is installed, and the dashboard is noted to be free of cracks, though minor wear is present on the driver’s seat bolster. Additionally, the air conditioning system is confirmed to be in proper working order. The seller states the radio does not produce sound, the odometer reportedly stopped functioning around 2015, and the odometer gears were replaced in preparation for the sale.

This 993 is powered by an air-cooled 3.6-liter flat-six engine rated at 272 HP and 243 lb-ft of torque, sent to all four wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission. Recent maintenance includes a replacement of the left rear axle in 2022, valve cover resealing performed by a Porsche dealer in 2023, and the installation of a new Bosch starter unit in preparation for the sale.

This sale will include a clean title, owner's manuals, a window sticker, a toolkit, a spare tire, and an additional set of wheels.

The seller would like you to know: "The seller's late husband babied this car, and it was garage-kept its whole life. The paint is truly exceptional, owing in large part to the hood bra that he installed when the car was new. They had years of excellent memories in this vehicle, and she hopes that its next family enjoys many adventures with this car."

@Edelweiss_Autowerks Thank you for taking the time to record the video and share those details. While it’s not quite the outcome we were hoping for, I really appreciate the transparency. The original owner truly loved the car, opting for a full respray rather than just a simple bumper touch-up. That kind of care says a lot.

@Stanlution The technicians agree with your assessment that the timing chain cover is showing some seepage. It does not appear to be a significant leak at this time.

You can see paint measurements here: https://youtu.be/YoP6O_HFPBQ

I would assume that this vehicle received a high-quality paint job in the factory color at some point. The seller does not know when her late husband would have had the car painted, nor why.

@Stanlution I will have my technicians review the damp area in the morning and report back with their findings.

I will get some additional paint meter readings in the AM, and post the results here. The paint readings pictured are from the detail shop we use (Buck's Legend Pro Detailing, in Madison), so I cannot speak from what portion of the panels they are from. I will note that I spoke with the seller this afternoon, and she reports that she is unaware of any paintwork the car received under her late husband's ownership.

The radio is clearly getting power, but something inside appears to be malfunctioning electrically. The backlight for the screen illuminates when the radio is turned on, but no numbers appear on the screen and no sound is produced. The new buyer will have the opportunity to replace the factory unit with a stereo of their choosing, or perhaps repair the existing factory radio.

@Edelweiss_Autowerks Reviewing those paint meter readings photos again I noticed that most of them were taken from the top edges of the panels, which can naturally have higher readings due to factory paint buildup. Readings taken lower on the panels might give a better indication.

One small observation: in photo 126 of 160, it looks like there may be a minor leak from the timing chain cover an easy fix.

Also, would it be possible to get more detailed paint meter readings or even a short video? Some of the measurements seem a bit high and might suggest previous paintwork.

Lastly, the radio doesn’t produce sound. Does it power on at all? Any idea what might be causing the issue?

    Thanks again

@Edelweiss_Autowerks Thanks so much for uploading the service receipts photos, really appreciate it. It clearly shows the original owner’s love for the car and their willingness to invest in its care, even though it wasn’t driven regularly. That kind of stewardship is great to see.

@Stanlution I apologize, it appears that you were not tagged in the previous comment. My apologies

  • Edelweiss_Autowerks (seller) 2 monthsago

@Stanlution Unfortunately service records are limited. The carfax report provides some insight into the service records, and several records are attached from the Porsche dealer. These encompass service performed over the last few years, and include lower valve cover reseal, heat exchanger hose replacement, left rear axle replacement, and the replacement of the convertible top. The replacement of the convertible top motors prior to convertible top replacement is alluded to.

@TheGerman You are correct that the odometer stopped working, likely around 2015 according to carfax service records. However, the owner suspects it hasn't traveled more than a few thousand miles over the last ten years.

The vehicle was kept at the family cabin "up north," and was driven infrequently. Additionally, by 2015, the owner's late husband (the vehicle's primary driver, who had purchased the car new) had fallen ill with the disease that would later take his life. I obviously cannot disclose any sensitive medical data, but I can assure you that the vehicle has not seen significant mileage over the last decade.

  • TheGerman (registered bidder) 2 monthsago

Am I right that nobody knows how many mls this car drove since 2015?

@em4bartz These fasteners are present to hold a "boot cover" over the retracted top. You can see something similar on this listing for a replacement convertible top: https://www.germanautotops.com/product/porsche-993-95-98-burgundy-sonnendecke-w-plastic-window/

Hello potential bidders!! My name is Louis Hardin, and I own Edelweiss Autowerks, a Porsche-focused shop in Madison, WI. We have a *heck* of a nice car for you this time around. The team and I will be sad to see this one go - it feels a bit like rehoming a particularly adorable foster puppy.

The car is at our facility, and I am happy to get pictures/video of anything you would like to see in greater detail. Good luck, and happy bidding!!
