This 1995 Ferrari F355 originally entered the market as a road-going model, delivered at Wide World of Cars in Spring Valley, New York. Following a theft and subsequent salvage title in 1996, the car underwent a meticulous transformation into a dedicated race car from 1997 to 2003. Finished in red with yellow MOMO racing livery, the build features carbon fiber body panels, Lexan windows, a roof-mounted air intake scoop, an adjustable rear wing, a Challenge-style rear grille, and 18” Speedline wheels. The stripped-down cabin includes a roll cage, fire suppression system, OMP bucket seats, MoTeC digital instrumentation, and a sought-after gated shifter. Powered by a replacement 3.5-liter V8 paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox, the car is equipped with MoTeC engine management, a SuperTrapp Industries exhaust system, a FuelSafe fuel cell, Penske adjustable coilovers, Brembo disc brakes, and more. Thoroughly prepared for racing, this F355 Berlinetta is now offered for auction out of Tennessee.
The Pininfarina-designed bodywork has been customized with carbon-fiber components including the hood, headlight covers, bumpers, and doors, followed by a red refinish after the 1990s theft recovery. The exterior was later adorned with yellow MOMO livery and showcases exposed carbon fiber along the front splitter, custom roof scoop, door mirror caps, decklid, adjustable rear wing, and diffuser. Other modifications include a Lexan windshield and quarter windows, a Challenge-style rear grille, and a single exhaust outlet integrated into the rear bumper. The car rides on black 18” Speedline wheels wrapped in 235/645 front and 295/680 rear Pirelli slick tires. Door windows are not installed, and some imperfections are noted. Stripped for lightweight, the cockpit features a full roll cage with door bars, a pair of OMP racing seats with Schroth harnesses, and a polished gated shifter. Carbon fiber covers the dashboard and door panels. Safety and controls include a Lifeline fire suppression system, an aluminum switch panel with an electrical cutoff switch, and a MOMO steering wheel bearing the Prancing Horse emblem. The quick-release steering wheel frames a MoTeC digital instrument cluster, with a Traqmate data logger mounted. An ignition barrel and airbags are not equipped, and the selling dealer reports that approximately 20 miles have been added since their acquisition.
The replacement 3.5-liter DOHC V8, reportedly installed in 2013, includes JE high-compression pistons, high-compression cylinder heads, and a MoTeC engine management system. The seller adds that the engine was rebuilt in 2014 by Universal Autosports in Farmingdale, New York. The rear wheels are driven through a rebuilt 6-speed manual gearbox, upgraded in October 2007 with a Michelotto main shaft and a carbon clutch assembly. Equipment also includes a SuperTrapp Industries exhaust system and a front trunk-mounted FuelSafe aluminum fuel cell. The suspension has been lowered with Penske Racing three-way adjustable coilovers, while Brembo calipers and 14″ slotted multi-piece rotors facilitate braking.
