The incredible performance numbers and sinister look made the 3.6 Turbo a cultural icon in the mid 1990’s. Posters of the car could be found on almost every teenagers wall that dreamed of one day owning one. Porsche produced only 1,427 3.6 Turbos for the world. The car up for auction here is believed to be 1 of just 2 Signal Green examples ever produced and will undoubtedly spark interest from discerning collectors around the world.
In 1993, the car was special ordered by the owner of Champion Porsche of Pompano Beach, FL. The car was then sold to Aerosmith Lead Guitarist, Brad Whitford in January 1994. Brad was the keeper of the car for over 10 years until being sold to a collector in Norway with just under 19,000 miles on the odometer. The current owner purchased the Turbo from a Factory Porsche dealership in Oslo, Norway and transported the car back to the US with approximately 30K miles on the odometer. The car is currently part of a world class collection and has been driven less than 1k miles since its purchase 4 years ago. Upon arriving back to the US, the car was immediately brought to Gold Coast Porsche (FKA Roslyn Porsche) for inspection and service. The receipts for the inspection and service will be provided with the sale.
The all original Signal Green paint is in spectacular condition with some very small chips on the hood that are almost undetectable. A Turbo S chin spoiler was installed to protect the under bumper and could be left on or removed with no issue. The gallery photos show the paint, lenses, and rubber trim to be in like new condition. The front bumper was professionally refinished at some point. Paint protection film covers the hood, fenders, and bumper. European side markers were installed by the Porsche Dealership in Norway to legalize European road use. The Factory original Speedline wheels are in excellent condition and are wearing a set of Michelin Pilot Sports that have plenty of tread life. The tires are dated from 2012/2013.
The black leather interior is in like new condition. Wear and tear is almost nonexistent on the full supple leather seats and shows how well cared for this car was throughout its life. The original MSRP was $105,140 and came equipped with a power sunroof, remote CD changer, and colored Porsche crests on the wheels. All electronics work as they should.
Power comes from a 3.6-liter turbocharged flat-six (M64/60) delivering a healthy 408HP and propels the car to 60mph in a blazing 4 seconds. The car is equipped with ABS and power steering.?
The car will be delivered with copy of the window sticker, copy of the title (showing Brad Whitford ownership), both sets of keys, owner’s manual, tools, spare tire, air pump, and all service records.

@DDavidson Guess I have been around the block a few times. The info is out there I just lived through a lot of it so it makes it easier. ;-)
I did typo though, meant to type Speed yellow.
@cobalt how do you know this much about Porsche! seriously! want to learn as much as I can and this blows me away.
For those who are interested. Crazy as it may be... The 1 other 3.6 turbo in Signal Green is also for sale or recently sold. Asking a bit over $500k USD with a few less miles. Don’t know the condition but it certainly can’t be nicer than this one. It’s In Germany .

@DDavidson Pretty much. In the US more than the ROW these colors at the time were not in fashion and they didn't have the marketing aids to sell a color like today. A tinny 2sq inches of paper in the color alongside the rest in a brochure. There were a few kits that gave you large samples but they weren't common. Rubystone and Maritime were two other similar Jelly Bean shades we saw very few of Signal yellow a bit more common but still rare. These were more ROW RS colors the US wanted black, red, white and silver for the most part. I know of only a handful 964 C2's in signal green as well. One being one of the few 92 C2's with the rare option 651 Sunroof delete from the factory I came across that car several times over 20 years and it was a tough sell then, now it is highly desired.

Ok my apologies on the delay. Here are your paint meter readings.
Meter readings
Front clip has clear bra
Hood 11.5-12
Cowl 12-12.5
Both fenders 11.5-12.5
Driver door 4.0
Roof 5.5
Sunroof 4.0
Left quarter 6.0
Rear deck 4.5
Right quarter 5.5
Passenger door 4.0
Please bear in mind these cars were known to vary more than the newer cars that are now painted via a robotic process.
I have inspected the paint out of this car extremely carefully under very scrutinizing lighting. There are zero signs of paint work aside from the front bumper.
Bid in the amount of $225,000
@cobalt do you know why there are only just a couple in signal green if not technically PTS? just not selected at the time you think?
Bid in the amount of $215,000
Bid in the amount of $207,000
If you eliminate the X83, X84, X85 and X88 cars which fall into a different category and price range and the RHD there were only 1263 stock LHD turbo 3.6's produced world wide. This is one of the rarest Porsche's from that era.
Bid in the amount of $205,000
I have known this car for quite some time when it was owned by Mike on rennlist who purchased it from RPM. Rey only sells the finest examples and knows these cars better than anyone. It is a truly outstanding example and a great color. Although technically not PTS I only have come across the two as noted making it very special and rare. The rear bumper section was replaced when imported but I know it had original paint when exported back to the US. IMO one of the finer 964 turbo 3.6's on par with mine ;)
IMO this is a $300k+ car we have a long way to go. I wouldn't let mine go for less and it is more common with 3 cobalts in the US but only one of two with black interior I can find World wide.

@eblais hi. I’m trying to respond to the comments promptly. I don’t have the reading and am not near the car today. I can take fresh ones tomorrow at the earliest. Yes there is film on the front however, it is very easy to see when the looking inside the hood and the fenders with everything open the paint is original in there as is the panels
@Down2trust Do you have paint meter readings? If the car has film on it now the readings would have to have been done before it was applied.
Bid in the amount of $180,000
@eblais yes it certainly has, a very comprehensive visual was also completed. All stickers, bolts, and seals remain in tact as they left the factory
Has the original paint been checked with a paint meter? This is tantamount to the value of the car. Paint readings please. I understand the front bumper has been painted.
I can’t think of a car more beautiful than this one. The total package is as close to perfect as I’ve ever seen on any car. Will surely pass my price range shortly. Best to the winner.
Maximum 964 Turbo Has Been Achieved. What a history. What condition! What a color combo. I am signal green with envy for the lucky buyer of this beauty...
@chokingfai I believe it was but you can’t meter a bumper as you know. I am trying to be as transparent as possible. The car is collector quality and has been part of mine for many years. Thanks for the question.
"The all original Signal Green paint is in spectacular condition with some very small chips on the hood... The front bumper was professionally refinished at some point."
Have the front bumper been repainted?
@Robert718 you couldn't be more correct. this 3.6 is literally insane.
This has got to be the most amazing 3.6 Turbo. I could only imagine seeing it in person. Wow.
