Due to its incredible performance numbers and and sinister look, the 3.6 Turbo became a cultural icon in the mid-1990’s.  Posters of the car could be found on almost any teenager's wall that dreamed of owning one.  With only 1,427 of these 3.6 Turbo's produced worldwide, it is becoming more difficult to find low-mileage pristine examples.  The example being offered here was purchased new in Illinois before eventually being sold to its next owner in Florida.  The current owner purchased this Turbo from a friend via a trade-in for another vehicle out of his collection.  It is currently being stored in a collection based out of Pinellas Park, FL.  The seller states that the car comes with a clean bill of health and is now being offered with just 34k miles showing on the odometer and still retains its original window sticker.

The Grand Prix White exterior paint is stated to be in exceptional condition.  Deciding to remove the side rocker stone guards due to yellowing, the seller states that nothing but clean, chip-free paint was unveiled.  Meter readings are provided in the photo gallery and show to be consistent.  A few key features of this 3.6 Turbo include an iconic integrated whale tail spoiler as well as factory 18” Speedline 3-piece wheels that wear a new set of Bridgestone tires.  Additional factory options include heated/power mirrors, washer nozzles, front/rear stabilizer bars, and 4 piston calipers with ventilated disc brakes.

The sleek Black leather interior shows to be in like-new condition with minimal wear.  It features a factory sunroof and an upgraded alpine head unit with rear speakers.  This is the only modification on this otherwise completely stock 3.6 Turbo.  Additional standard options on the 3.6 Turbo include power windows, power seats, automatic climate control, and 2+2 folding rear seats. Overall, it is safe to say that this Turbo has been preserved extremely well over the years.

Power comes from a 3.6L turbocharged flat-six engine (M64/60) that develops a healthy 355HP with performance that is impressive even by todays standards.  The car is equipped with ABS, assisted braking, desirable 5-speed manual transmission, and power steering.  The seller states that the car is not in need of any service items and is in turn-key condition.  In-depth engine and undercarriage photos are viewable in the gallery photos.

The sale will include a clean Carfax, original window sticker, all books, and 2 keys.

@cobalt the sticker you think is missing is on the engine cover lid. My person just missed it while taking picture, it is now on PCar Markets website. Secondly there is no evidence that the other stickers you speak of have ever been taped off. Third, I took what appeared to be the original rock guards off in that they had discolored and they clearly had not been taped off. I know you are trying to be helpful, but not examining this car in person is a little ufair, and as i stated yesterday the gentleman that owns the service center I use knows both previous owners and knows that neither of them had the car repainted.
Further a investor had a professional surveyor inspected the car in the last year he never raised the possibility that the car had been painted, nor did the investor. The sale did not go thru because we could not agree on a price.

@cobalt Thank you. White is a tricky color to assess. As for the Porsche Speedlines, I agree. They do appear to have been refinished.

Charlie Grose is the owner of this shop and Andy is in the showroom every day representing the highest standard of care and ethical dealings. They have the nicest collection of rare & unique Porsches that I have ever seen. All are low milage cars that are in incredible shape, both mechanically and all are original & completely stock. It does not come into this shop unless it is a unique, special, or rare ride! Good Luck with this sale, I predict it will go well north of $225,000 Personally, since it is in my own back yard I will be going to see it.. We live in Indian Rocks Beach, which is in the area.

One more side note it would appear the speedline wheels have been refinished since the valve stems are not perfectly centered between the spokes.

A beautiful example no doubt but seeing meter readings consistently this high is IMO highly unlikely. Although the car looks quite original overall it is impossible to say. Even with these being the last of the 26 stage paint process solid colors especially should be lower than this since they were still single stage paints being used. If base clear is used than it was repainted. Although the vin sticker is still present on the center of the rear bumper it is hard to see if it was tapped off and I don't see the vin sticker on the rear deck lid which should be located midway along the right hand side and should be visible in the pictures. If this is missing odds are that area was painted.

It would need to be looked at closer to say as white is the hardest to see if any work was done through pictures. Although I have some talented friends that can replicate the factory finish and orange peel so the best experts would be hard pressed to say if it was a repaint or not. Usually the numbers read like we are seeing here. The question is if it was repainted and it is impossible to tell with the naked eye how much does it matter? Still a gorgeous 3.6T and with only around 200 or less remaining in the US finding nice ones is getting harder all the time.

@Cruizeasy I could not of explain it better I have had a few white 993's all of them have read high. The service center i use has know this car thru both previous owners. IF this car was ever totally repainted it was done at the factory.

Here is how I see Paint, i too have found older Porsche factory single stage paint in the wide ranges of .003+ to .007+ on various areas of the cars.
Paint is tricky, is it original single stage or later two Stage, cut or not cut.
If this car were repainted, was it stripped to metal, or over sprayed the original paint. If stripped that is telling.
If over sprayed you need to work the original paint way down so when you respray your meter readings are correct. Lots of labor doing that.
Original old Porsche paint has some degree of orange peel. No orange peel, been repainted. But it is possible to repaint old school with the correct paint and reproduce the factory look and thickness to a great degree.
It is possible to block cut out a lot of the orange peel, if you have enough factory paint thickmess. Doing that will leave very thin readings.
So if I see 3+ to 7+ and the car can not be faulted for paint, I consider it factory.
If I get stumped, I ask several other people to look at the paint and offer an openion.
I admire original Porsche factory paint, even in less than perfect shape. It is a part you can not replace.

White 964 3.6 Turbo has to be one of my top PCars

@MezgerTT anything is possible in my opinion but over the years I’ve encountered both a 993 Turbo and even a 997 that had readings like this. After much scrutiny, could not find paint work. It’s definitely possible (especially with these earlier hand made cars) that it very well just may have left the factory this way.

@tampabaysportscars Very nice car. Looking at the paint meter readings you posted which 7-8 mil, although consistent, does it appear the car was painted since these cars usually meter between 3.5 and 5.5 mil?

@ChrisA There are some records on the website now. When I Purchased the car the owner which my mechanic knew told us he had a new clutch and service done with in the last few months, Unfortunately he never sent me the receipts. We did do a PPI and I have only driven the car less than 200 miles in over three years
