We are proud to offer this impeccable and highly sought-after 1994 3.6 Turbo for auction. In 1993, Porsche decided to build a turbocharged version of the desirable M64 engine which would then be fitted into the legendary 964 3.6L Turbo. Out of 1,427 3.6 Turbo’s built, this pristine 1994 example remains 1 of only 3 examples finished in Cobalt Blue. This incredibly rare and tastefully optioned 964 shows just 23,171 carefully driven miles and is now being offered for auction in concours-level condition out of a collection in Ohio.
Kept in a climate controlled garage, the factory Cobalt Blue paint is stated to be in exceptional condition. Records and visual inspection suggest that that this immaculate 964 Turbo still retains its original paint. As can be seen in the photo gallery, the glass, lenses, and rubber trim also appear to be like new. This 3.6 rides on its original factory equipped 18” three-piece Speedline wheels that are stated to be in excellent condition.
An exquisite and masterfully configured Grey leather interior beautifully offsets this car’s factory paint. The interior is stated to remain in like-new condition, exhibiting no imperfections or signs of excessive wear. The shift knob and brake handle are finished in Rootwood while extended leather options include the gear box tunnel as well as the tray behind the parking brake. Believed to be dealer upgraded, a pair of factory sport seats with deviated stitching were tastefully installed, replacing the stock supple leather seats along with Cobalt Blue seatbelts. Aside from this, the interior remains completely original and all electronics are fully functional including the factory sunroof and radio with disc changer.
Featuring a KKK turbocharger and increased compression, this Turbos numbers matching 3.6L turbocharged power plant delivers an astounding 360HP the rear wheels, sending this car from 0-60 in about 4 seconds. Add in ABS brakes, incredibly smooth power steering and a crisp 5-speed manual transmission and the result is a sensational all around sports car that will go on as one of the most iconic Turbo’s ever created. This 3.6 has been set to a Euro-spec ride height with Bilstein shocks and comes equipped with an aftermarket Billy Boat exhaust which further emphasizes this car’s already aggressive exhaust note. Comprehensive service records indicate that this low mileage Turbo has been very well-maintained and cared for including a complete fluid flush. There have been no instances of any mechanical issues and the seller confirms that this car runs like new.
One of the most collectible Porsches to be created since the 959 and a true sports car icon, this 1994 3.6 Turbo is something to behold. The sale will include all original books, certificate of authenticity, service records, tools, and two keys with one leather pouch, and a clean Carfax report. One of just three finished in magnificent Cobalt Blue, this car this is a rare opportunity to own a piece of Porsche heritage.

Sold for $295,964
@tmario Yes that would be mine. You really did steel this car. IMO one of the best bought turbo 3.6's I have seen in several years. I can try to find some of the older photos I have of it if you want them for your records.
Cobalt is a truly misunderstood color that is why so few were painted in cobalt. I purchased mine in early 2000's, the owner said he couldn't get anyone to come see it because of the color. Ironically it is amazingly different and far nicer in person than in the pictures. Welcome to the exclusive club of 94 turbo 3.6 ownership and now the owner of one of the more unique and pristine examples. You can always revert what was done back if you want. Changing belts and bits is easy and cheap or leave it as it is. I can assure you a small % of all the remaining 3.6T's are in this condition and the all original ones with sub 10k miles would fetch a heck of a lot more.
Enjoy it in good health and come visit us over in the turbo forums on rennlist. I am always happy to help with questions just sometimes slow at responding.
All the best.
@cobalt thanks. It’s funny because I first saw this color on rennlist and I think it’s your car!
@cobalt Congrats! Well bought!!
I can't believe it sold for so little. All the best to the new owner you just got one heck of a deal.

@notmyfirst1 Its not a parting shot. These are fact. This type of auction set up is designed to make factual comments and being clarity to the vehicles. Seats belts and doors sills are not original too. Nice piece, but way too many modifications on this one for me.
@jsjchamp AND investor... :). I think we both know the pice is quite high on this for what it is... Flipper, Investor or anyone that wants it that's at the very least a beginner emotional Porsche buyer.
Bid in the amount of $276,000
@Turbotwo spoken like a true Flipper ?.
@notmyfirst1 - Amen. 100% investment grade, model, color, ownership history, etc etc. I know this car well and it is spectacular. Good guys prevail ?. This will go to a good new home I’m sure.
@Turbotwo ok your out. Why take a parting shot at what is clearly a world class collectible Porsche. Not sure why you felt the need to do that. I cant afford this car but I clearly acknowledge it’s pedigree.
@bimmer993997 Well said. This is nothing like the turbos that sell in the $275k mark or less. They are all higher mile cars or needing expensive work and usually have issues the buyers discover a little too late. Even the signal green car sold here for $320k. https://www.pcarmarket.com/auction/1994-porsche-36-turbo-pts-signal-green/
Many of these trade hands privately for well into $300k+ I suspect it will take that much to buy this one.
Most anything done to this car can be reverted back to stock. The seats as well but sports seats are a great addition.
RPM sports cars has some very low all original examples he has the best of the best and those will set you back a lot more than $350k.
@Turbotwo I get your perspective but as a long time follower of BAT as well as this site, start digging deep and you will find that when you have special cars that are irreplacable it doesn't get categorized as just a "94 3.6 turbo." They are treated as art pieces and value becomes a different story. With two rare 3.6 Turbo specs sold on pcarmarket ( speed yellow and signal green) for over $300k with more mileage than this I don't think this price is unrealistic at all. The value on this car can range as broad as 250-350 due to the obscure color and low miles. And sure, you can buy a plain color with 40k miles for 200 or less, we all know that. This car goes to the buyer who has the funds to be different and unique to stand out in a crowd of "stand outs"
Im out! Seems the bidding is far beyond the actual value. Cool color, but this 3.6 isn't "investment grade"

@Turbotwo The gauge set are original, the bezel had been added. The pedals are also original just the aluminum cover are added.
Thanks. One let question. Do you have the original gauges and pedals? was the odometer changed as well?
@Turbotwo I think i have a set of original fog lights. the wiring has not been altered.
and i sure that I can source a lower lip.
Do you have the original fog lights? Has the wiring been altered?
@Turbotwo A Ruf lower lip was added to the stock valence.
Bid in the amount of $245,000
Nice stance Also the lower front valence appears to be aftermarket….what brand is it? do you have the original? why was it changed?
@Turbotwo it has been lowered to euro ride height with Bilstein shocks.
Great COLOR. The car looks like it sits lower than normal? has the car been lowered? Is the suspension original?
No way this will meet reserve at these prices. Need to add another $100k min. If this sells at this price the buyer is getting the deal of the century

@ChrisA Going through all service records, most are routine air cooled maintenances(oil, brake flush etc. In 2009 the mileage was 19,896 the turbo was rebuilt and seals replaced by the Ruf center in Tx. Also in 2009 tie rods and boots were replaced.
The motor is completely leak free.
Most definitely one to consider. Thank you @Cobalt.
I am the owner of one of the other three US spec cobalt blue 964 turbo 3.6's. Mine has black interior the third has classic of dark gray.
I have known of this car for about 12 years and two of it's previous owners. I have pictures of this car in its original configuration plus records back from 2006 or so. This car literally started the rise in turbo prices when it sold for nearly double the current market price back in 2011 or so from Premier. The interior has been modified from original including the seats which were converted to sport seats with the original supple leather. Something Porsche did not offer. The root wood and classic gray bits were removed and exchanged. for what you see today. IMO it is not something I would normally consider however it was a huge improvement over how it came from the factory. The rootwood did not work with the light gray and the dark gray bits just made it too busy. I know most all of the 200 or so remaining out of the 335 imported 94 turbo 3.6's left in the US and IMO this is one of the finest examples you can buy. Something I don't say lightly as I am usually picking apart most of the 964's sold today. Other than the change to the original interior the previous owner was meticulous and no expense spared on maintaining it and I can say with confidence it is rare to see one this clean and well maintained.
IMO if you are in the market for a 94 turbo 3.6 this car without exception is one worth considering.
I might be a bit biased but cobalt blue on the widebody IMO is one of if not the finest colors you can have. It color shifts from dark blue to purple to light purple depending on how the sun is in the sky or the lighting in the room. My personal experience with mine is it is a pure attention getter not for it being a 3.6T but for the color on the widebody which most people just go crazy over. The only other turbo that gets more attention and only after they hear the news is my friends black over black 94 that was the actual movie car from the 1995 movie Bad Boys staring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence. Bad Boys 3 is about to be released.
The 94 turbo 3.6 is one of the most unique driving experiences of any air-cooled and modern day Porsche's. Civilized when driven slow and a rush at WOT like no other car I have driven and the list is extensive. For those that know me you know I wouldn't be saying this is I wasn't 1000% sure this car is everything you would want in a turbo 3.6. Bid with confidence if you are like me if you win this car you will never want to let it go at any price. Although I think you will need to be north of $350k to own this incredibly special example.
@GTV1 is it possible for you to provide an overview of the service history. I see there is a comprehensive set of records but it would be helpful to understand what has been performed and when. Thank you
@sixspeed71 Hey sixspeed
Thank you for the inquiry, I do not have the original exhaust.
@ChrisA Hi Chris
Thank you for the interest. These are actually the original seats. In 2008 the owner had Ruf convert the seat frame to sport seat frame with factory parts and seat covers(documented by Ruf invoice).
Larry
Is the OEM exhaust still in-hand, or is it gone?
@ChrisA according to the COA those are the original seats. (Supple light grey leather with leather piping option). I’d bid on this car if it was within my budget. It’s unique as much as it is rare
Do you still have the original seats?
