The product of one of the greatest automotive collaborations ever, the Mercedes-Benz 500E/E500 was created in 1989 using Porsche’s expertise to incorporate a 5.0-liter V8 engine from the SL-Class roadster into the chassis of the W124 sedan. As the car entered its final years of production from 1994 into 1995, a “Limited” edition model was created featuring exclusive colored leather upholstery, Birdseye maple trim, and 17” EVO II alloy wheels. This 1994 example is one of 951 Mercedes-Benz E500 Limiteds produced in total and has been cared for by two prior owners while maintained by a local Mercedes-Benz dealership. Showing approximately 145k kilometers on the odometer, this rare E500 is now being offered for auction out of Switzerland.

During an 18-day process, the 500E/E500 was hand-assembled by Porsche at Zuffenhausen, transported back to Mercedes-Benz for painting, and finally redelivered to Porsche's "Rössle-Bau" plant where the car was completed and mated to its engine. Compared to the standard W124 models, the 500E could be distinguished by its wider stance, flared fenders, side skirts, and front air dam. The 1994 model also received cosmetic updates along with the rest of the E-Class model range including a new trunk lid, front grille, and headlamps. This W124 is finished was specified with equipment for Switzerland and comes finished in Brilliant Silver Metallic (744U). The Limited model rides on slightly lower suspension than a standard E500 and comes factory equipped with 17” EVO II alloy wheels.  New Bridgestone tires have been installed and the seller describes the paint to be very well-preserved while showing only minor stone chips. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

The cabin is appointed with Black leather featuring unique Birdseye maple wood trim and Green-patterned inserts on the Recaro seats and door panels which are specific to the E500 Limited. Driver amenities include heated electrically adjustable front seats with memory, an electric rear window blind, an electric sliding sunroof, a power-adjustable steering column, a remote locking system, heat-insulating glass, automatic climate control, an integrated telephone, and sound system paired with the original cassette stereo.

This E500 is powered by a 5.0-liter M119 32-valve DOHC V8 engine producing up to 322 HP and 354 lb.-ft of torque. The rear wheels are driven by way of a 4-speed automatic transmission. The 1994 model year introduced larger factory disc brakes borrowed from the R129 SL600 roadster. The seller states that all routine maintenance has been kept up to date by a Mercedes-Benz dealership and a documented service history will be provided to the next owner.

This sale will include the original owner’s manuals and a clean title.
