Making its debut in 1992, the second-generation BMW M3 featured a new chassis, body style, and an S50 inline-six engine that increased power over the previous M3 by almost 100 HP. This 1994 Japanese market example is finished in Diamond Black over an Anthracite interior with M-Rain cloth. It has been extensively modified with performance parts including a Supersprint exhaust system, a lightweight clutch/flywheel kit, an aftermarket rear differential, H&R Sport Springs with Bilstein B8 Sport strut/shocks, and more. This M3 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New York showing less than 134k km (just over 83k miles) on the odometer.
The E36 M3 is distinguishable from a standard 3-series by its aggressive lower front air dam, flared rocker panels, rounded aerodynamic mirrors, and lower rear diffuser with larger diameter exhaust tips. Finished in Diamond Black, the equipment includes pop-out quarter windows, Euro-spec glass headlights, and front and rear fog lamps. This example has been optioned without a sunroof and rides on 17” Style 24M wheels wrapped in Continental ExtremeContact Sport tires from 2016. The seller notes some small scratches, a few scuffs, and chipping on the front end. It is also reported that the paint by the driver’s door handle has been touched up. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with paint meter readings and a clean CARFAX report.
The cabin features Anthracite M-Rain cloth upholstery with Vader sport seats. Equipment includes a leather-wrapped 4-spoke steering wheel, air conditioning, an onboard computer, power windows, central locking, cruise control, split-folding rear seats, and dual-zone automatic climate control. The seller reports some imperfections on the door panels and notes that the headliner has been redone, along with the installation of a ZHP “Shorty” shift knob, and a Clarion head unit. It is also stated that the glove compartment door is loose, a new clock spring is needed for the steering wheel with the airbag light illuminating intermittently, and that the stereo is in Japanese frequencies. All gauges, electronics, and accessories are stated to function properly, except for some dimly lit and missing pixels on the digital display.
Powered by a 3.0-liter S50 inline-six engine, the M3 sends up to 286 HP and 236 lb.-ft. of torque, from the factory to its rear wheels by way of a 5-speed manual transmission. The pre-facelift Euro S50 produces over 40 HP more than its U.S. counterpart thanks to individual throttle bodies, continuously variable VANOS valve timing, heavy-duty valve springs, and higher compression ratios. Recent maintenance is said to include an oil and filter change in May of 2024 and this M3 has been modified with the following:
This sale will include a toolkit, a spare tire, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “I have been around E36 for 20+ years, this is an excellent driver in 8/10 condition inside and out, very much original body and paint. Mechanically restored (all bushings, etc.) tasteful changes to make it handle, look, and drive even better than BMW did in 1994.”

@jnag Yea, not sold
@177 According to their site it was "Sold after", was there an after-auction sale that fell through or are they just boosting their numbers? (Wouldn't be the first time)
@Eagle2 Did not hit reserve, not sold
Wasn't this car sold on cars & bids a few days ago?
Photos are a little too dialed up on the saturation for a fair assessment of paint. But the spec is killer!
Love to see a Euro-Spec car. Paint looks amazing. Props to the photography as well. Best of luck to the seller and buyer.
