In 1992, BMW launched the second generation of its M3 high-performance 3-Series with a new body style, chassis, and 6-cylinder S50 engine which offered an increase of nearly 100 HP over the original M3. This European-spec 1994 example was originally delivered to Japan and was ordered in Alpine White III over an “M-Rain” cloth interior. It was imported to the United States in October of 2020 and received a new fuel pump, sending unit, shocks, door seals, and door panels before it was acquired by the current owner. Showing approximately 115k kilometers (71,450 miles) on the odometer, this E36 M3 is now being offered for auction out of Illinois.

The exterior is finished in Alpine White III (300) and was completely refinished under prior ownership in 2020. Equipment includes Shadowline black trim, pop-out rear quarter windows, Euro-spec glass headlights, and front/rear foglamps. The M3 can be differentiated from a standard E36 3-Series by its aggressive front air dam, sculpted rockers, rounded aero mirrors, and lower rear diffuser with dual exhaust tips. The 17” Style 22 wheels are mounted with Toyo Proxes T1R tires. The seller notes ceramic coating was applied in April of 2021, additional images are provided in the gallery.

The interior features manually adjustable Vader sport seats with M-Rain cloth upholstery and a matching rear bench in addition to black door panels, dashboard, and carpeting. M3-specific details include a leather-wrapped M-Sport steering wheel with M tri-color stitching, M3-branded door sills, and an M-badged instrument cluster with a 280 KM/H speedometer and 8k-RPM tachometer. Amenities include dual-zone automatic climate control, an aftermarket Continental stereo head unit, power accessories, and M3-branded floormats. The seller reports the door panels and door seals were replaced in 2020 under previous ownership and notes the instrument cluster screen is missing some pixels. The rear side panel upholstery also shows wrinkling.

The European-spec 3.0L S50 inline-six was factory rated at 286 HP and 236 lb.-ft of torque, driving the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The 3.0L S50 produces over 40 HP more than its U.S. counterpart thanks to individual throttle bodies, continuously-variable VANOS valve timing, heavy-duty valve springs, and higher compression ratios. Upon importation to the United States, this M3 received a new fuel pump, a new fuel sending unit, and new shock absorbers.

This sale will include owner’s manuals, some service documentation, and a clean title.
