BMW’s flagship grand tourer of the 1990s, the original 8-Series (E31) featured an advanced CAD-designed body with a distinctive pillarless window configuration. This 1994 BMW 840Ci comes finished in Schwarz II and features a 4.9-liter S62 V8 engine and a 6-speed manual transmission which were borrowed from a 2001 BMW M5 and installed in 2021. This 8-Series has also been completely refinished and customized with suspension modifications, 18” MK Motorsports wheels, and several Dinan performance upgrades. This S62-powered E31 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California showing approximately 130k miles.
This E31 was factory finished in Schwarz II and has since been completely repainted and customized with a pair of E36 M3-style side mirrors as well as an 850CSi-style rear diffuser and front spoiler. The seller states the 18” MK Motorsports wheels were refinished and powder-coated in 2021 and are currently dressed in a set of Falken Azenis FK510 tires. Some imperfections are noted throughout the exterior, detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The cabin is trimmed in black leather with heated and power-adjustable front seats, a three-spoke M sport steering wheel, and a matching M shift knob. Factory features include automatic climate control, an onboard computer, an electric sunroof, and AM/FM cassette stereo. A tear is noted on the surface of the front passenger seat and the seller reports the airbag warning light is present on the dashboard.
Sourced from a 2001 BMW E39 M5, this 8-Series features a naturally aspirated 4.9-liter S62 V8 engine that drives the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission. The engine was originally rated at 400 HP and has been upgraded with Supersprint exhaust X-pipe as well as a Dinan intake, ignition coils, mass airflow sensors, and rear exhaust section. The engine was installed in January 2021 and is said to have been overhauled with new rod bearings and gaskets during that time. The suspension includes Bilstein dampers, H&R lowering springs, and a Dinan front strut tower brace.
This sale will include a clean title.

@jimmypr Yes sunroof works as expected with the tilt up and full extended options. AC works as well with a toggle switch to activate the compressor.

Ac work? Sunroof?
@Craignyc So the person who had done the body work / paint job has over 15 years of experience. There are no flaws on the exterior of the vehicle that I am aware of. The vehicle has been addressed and handled professionally. After the cut and buff was done to the car, I then had a ceramic coating applied to the vehicle to give an extra added layer of protection to the car. So if and when there is water on the paint it just slides right off. Thank you for reaching out and good luck!
Bid in the amount of $24,840
@Craignyc Not to bare metal, but I would say close to. So it was painted in the original paint code 668 and finished with 5 stages of clear coat.
@QBMAUTO ok so did you go down to bare metal on the repaint or just sand and smooth and paint on top of existing?
@Craignyc I'm not sure what the meter reads, but the car was fully restored with a paint job as well as a cut and buff after 40 days.
