Introduced for the 1993 model year, the Porsche 968 Clubsport (CS) offered a lightweight track-focused model, stripped of most luxuries and equipped with two Recaro racing seats, a lowered suspension, and 17” Cup Design wheels. The Clubsport was not available in the United States and remains one of the rarest 968 variants with just over 1,900 produced over three years. This 1993 example was originally designated for the French market and is finished in Speed Yellow over a Black interior. It comes equipped with an optional air conditioning system, power windows, a limited-slip differential, an upgraded KW V3 coilover suspension, and a Cargraphic exhaust system. Imported to the U.S. in 2019 and acquired by the seller dealer in 2024, this rare 968 Clubsport is now being offered for auction out of Tennessee with approximately 37k kilometers (23k miles) showing on the odometer.

Compared to a standard 968 model, the Clubsport version differs only by its rear badge, body-colored rear spoiler and 17” Cup wheels. This example is finished in Speed Yellow (L12G) and is equipped with French-market yellow front fog lights. The car rides on Bridgestone Potenza RE-71RS tires measuring 225/45 in front and 225/40 at the rear. The seller indicates signs of paintwork on the passenger-side door and rear quarter panel. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

The Clubsport owes much of its weight savings to its interior, which features a pair of cloth-trimmed Recaro racing seats and a three-spoke sport steering wheel. As standard, the Clubsport came without rear seats, a sunroof, power accessories, airbags, or sound-deadening material. This example features optional power windows and air conditioning and has been fitted with an aftermarket Continental stereo.

The Clubsport is equipped with the same engine as the standard 968, a 3.0-liter inline-four with VarioCam variable valve timing. Up to 237 HP and 225 lb.-ft of torque is sent to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transaxle and a limited-slip differential. This example was fitted with upgraded KW V3 coilovers and a Cargraphic exhaust system in 2023 along with an oil change.

This sale will include a clean title.

What a cool car I wish I could park this next to my 944 Turbo Cup. Looking in coutch now for a few extra bucks 😄
Only thing hold these pretty rare cars back stateside is not many people even know what they are.

  • ralt12 (registered bidder) 8 monthsago

This is seriously attractive, if I wasn’t in CA ( think the MT/SD options are something the CHP is getting wise to) I’d be in the mix. Great car, different wheels would help the very yellow impression you get. All the right stuff.

@MonarchShowroom, thanks very much for the clarification.

  • MonarchShowroom (seller) 8 monthsago

@Bg57gt4 quoted from the previous owner. "Front bumper: as you can see in the Wob auction, this car had a front plate. I had the plate holes filled and the bumper painted/blended.

Rear bumper: when I received the car from Zweck, it had a euro plate installed on the rear. When I removed it to install a U.S. plate, it was clear to me that a euro plate was selected to cover up a silver-dollar sized blemish where double-sided tape had pulled up paint. That was corrected.

Passenger door: take a look at the Wob auction. You can see the rear half of the door is poorly matched to the rest of the car. I had the door repainted for a much better match.

    Paint work was ~$5k.

  • Bg57gt4 (registered bidder) 8 monthsago

@MonarchShowroom, any clarification around passenger door and rear quarter paintwork? Any evidence of bodywork?

  • MonarchShowroom (seller) 8 monthsago

@lotusx another picture with the seat foam removed, showing the 5th belt location. These are the $20,000 seats.

@lotusx see picture #170. You can clearly see the 5th belt loop by the sticker in your last picture request. Looking forward to your bid!

  • Lotusx (registered bidder) 8 monthsago

One more thing, if you pull the lower cushions up you should have a 5th harness hole in the middle. The later seats did not have that.

It has been a little bit so I hope I am not mixing things up. I do know that my 968CS seats are the early version, 4 stickers in total (my set dates to September of 1992) and have the lower harness hole.

It might be interesting for you to take a look, the lower seats pads are removable from factory.

  • Lotusx (registered bidder) 8 monthsago

Your seats are VERY rare in the CS. Being that they were built in the second week of December of 1992, these are the early seats. The early hardbacks are 964RS vs the seats that were built in Q1 of 1993 were trampoline Speedster type. There are only a couple dozen 968CS's that have these early seats (I own car 010, owned by Porsche Germany as a press car). If the other 2/3 stickers are still on the bottom the seat (they always move in location), those are $20,000.00 seats all day long.

The early seats like yours have the extra "spider" reinforcements on the rear. 6 vs 4 supports. They are a harder ride that I love because they do not have the floating support of the trampoline.

This is all from my understanding and research on these seats. If somebody needs to correct me, please do. I have the same seats but with one of the first 20 production numbers (they used a different numbering from the 964RS even though some of these seats were "left overs").

    Again, beautiful car!

Also not an expert but my understanding is you can import it under the 25 year rule, but you can’t smog it. So you can’t get plates. Smog is mandatory for vehicles made 1974 onwards. Getting smog means a CARB sticker somewhere under the hood. CARB certification is about $10k (!) but some people have gone through it already and so there’s a few cars on a list that can have CARB stickers added after some mods.

  • MonarchShowroom (seller) 8 monthsago

@D2dak I’m not a Cali rule expert but the car is importable under the 25 year rule. Everywhere else, I believe, that eclipses the CARB regs. This car does have the factory exhaust included. Someone else feel free to chime in here with more precise info.

  • D2dak (registered bidder) 8 monthsago

Can this be registered in CA?

  • craig001 (registered bidder) 8 monthsago

This 968, my favorite color short of a cab in black over yellow. Rare bird that's well optioned. If you are really interested you can drop $12.99 over at VIN ANALYTICS for a build sheet. Must be that this is a ROW car that it is not free.

  • teescott (registered bidder) 8 monthsago

If you haven’t driven one on a twisty road then you really don’t know how perfectly these cars handle. These are just beginning to be understood by the Porsche community

  • MonarchShowroom (seller) 8 monthsago

@McGovenator60 don’t keep waiting for rare low production cars to “get cheap”. It won’t happen and life will pass you by. Step up and be a bidder.

  • McGovenator60 (registered bidder) 8 monthsago

I wonder if it will go for more here and it did on BaT. For the seller I hope it does. Maybe one day these will be cheap haha

@Lotusx the white sticker and COA have been added and the 220 LSD option is present on this one.

  • Lotusx (registered bidder) 8 monthsago

@MonarchShowroom I want to say again, your CS is beautiful. When you get a chance it would be great to see the factory white sticker. Maybe I missed it but if the car is 220 LSD, that is a big deal. There were not many optioned in Speed Yellow with LSD (fewer with 030 sport suspension as well).

If possible can I get a photo of the rear of the yellow rear hardbacks? That would answer what I am trying to understand. I also agree, no reason to pull the seats. But it is pretty easy to stick you IPhone under and the stickers (four of them) are very near the front, I have done it before.

Again, beautiful car. Thank you again, Christopher

  • MonarchShowroom (seller) 8 monthsago

@Lotusx apologies for the delay. There is a picture of the build sheet but there is a glare on it. I’ll get to the shop for a picture but to answer your question, the seats are correct, it is a LSD car, no sunroof. I’m probably not taking the seats out for pictures. They are listed on the build sheet.

  • Lotusx (registered bidder) 8 months, 1 weekago

Sorry to ask again but I am trying to figure out if it is 220 LSD. I see it is not 030 sport suspension, it does have AC, so the large loom and large battery. These cars were ordered both with and without the hard back seats but you look to have the early 964RS seats that were used in the late 1992 cars. Could I also get a photo of the back of the seats and also the 3 stickers on the bottom of each seat? Thank you in advance, Christopher

  • Lotusx (registered bidder) 8 months, 1 weekago

Beautiful 968CS. Could you post a copy of the white sticker so I can see the options vs what has been updated? Thank you in advance.

Good Morning P CAR Market! The Monarch Team is hoping to find more interest in this fabulous, low mile, 968 CS. The service is current, record of timing belt replacement, lots of records (in languages other then English) present and include a timing belt service. This car has been improved by correcting the holes for the Euro plate, fresh tires, KW V3 coil over system, wheel spacers, upgraded exhaust and more. Good luck and we are here to answer any questions for bidders!
