Following the great success of the 964 RS in the European market, devoted driving enthusiasts in the United States demanded a lightweight, purpose-built 964 model of their own. Under the supervision of racing legend Vic Elford, Porsche set out to fulfill this demand by creating a track oriented, lightweight car based on the Carrera 2, which would be called “RS America”. Showing just 19,986 miles on the odometer, this highly collectible 1993 RS America is being offered for auction in concourse-level condition out of a private collection in New York.
The completely original Guard’s Red paint remains in like new condition, bearing no imperfections or blemishes whatsoever. This RS rides on factory equipped 17” Cup wheels which are in perfect shape and come wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport tires. Porsche’s iconic whale tale spoiler comes standard on this model as well as “RS” designations on the rear quarter panels and rear deck lid.
Inside, this RS America retains its original lightweight black interior. Porsche omitted non-essential components such as power steering, cruise control and rear seats; utilizing flat door panels, door pull straps and cloth covered sport seats in an effort to save weight. The result of these strategic weight saving measures resulted in a 77lb lighter car with greatly improved handling capabilities. Overall, this interior is stated to be in like-new condition with a new car smell still present. All electronics are in perfect working order.
Power comes from a 3.6L flat-six air-cooled engine that sends 247HP to the rear wheels via a 5-speed G50 transmission. 0-60 is achieved in approximately 4.6 seconds while reaching top speeds of over 145mph. This specific example is a stand out among others due to the factory optioned limited slip differential and air conditioning. Extremely well-documented, this RS America has always been meticulously cared for and well maintained, receiving all due services from qualified technicians. Prior to the owners purchase, over $20k was invested into bringing this car to perfect running condition. The car has only been driven a few hundred miles since and looked over on a weekly basis.
Included in the sale of this RSA are all original books, service history, documentation, copy of original window sticker, and a clean Carfax. Don't miss your opportunity to own what could be one of the highest level RS Americas available on the market today.
