Following the success of the 964 RS in Europe, the RS America was developed for U.S. customers based on a 964 Carrera 2 and featuring a spartan interior with no rear seats, minimal amenities, and manual rack and pinion steering. This example is said to be one of just over 700 produced for the United States between 1993 and 1994 and was specified in Guards Red over a black interior along with an optional limited-slip differential and sunroof. Originally sold in Vermont, this 964 spent time in New Jersey and New Hampshire before being acquired by the current owner in November of 2021. Now residing in Washinton, this RS America is being offered for auction showing just over 35k miles on the odometer.
This RS America is finished in the classic Porsche shade of Guard’s Red (G1) with clear paint protection film applied over the front end. Unique details of the RS America include a distinctive whale tail spoiler, “RS” designations on the lower rear quarter panels, and an “RS America” badge on the decklid. The 964 was factory-equipped with 17” Cup wheels measuring 7” wide in the front and 8” wide in the rear, mounted with Michelin Pilot Sport tires from 2017.
The interior of the RS America omitted non-essential amenities such as power steering, air conditioning, cruise control, and rear seats, and includes manually-adjustable corduroy cloth front seats with black leatherette backing, RS-badged VDO instrumentation, flat door panels with red fabric pulls, and red safety belts. A sunroof was selected on the original option sheet, and a Porsche Classic Communication Management radio with Bluetooth and Apple Carplay has been fitted along with Focal speakers.
The RS America is powered by a 3.6L air-cooled flat-six engine that sends 247 HP and 228 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a G50 5-speed manual transmission and optional rear limited-slip differential, allowing the RSA to accelerate from 0-60 in 4.6 seconds. The RS Americas were also factory equipped with the M030 Sports Suspension Package, which equips springs and shocks from the 911 Turbo, and a 22mm front anti-roll bar. Stopping power is derived from aluminum Brembo brake calipers and vented rotors at all four corners. The CARFAX report shows a history of maintenance at specialty shops and dealerships up until late 2020.

As an owner of a very similar RSA...it's one of the most fun 911s I own (and I own quite a few). Such a great car and still selling these days for so much less than a boring 992. GLWS!

@beddy2442 I had a RS America come look at it and he took paint meter readings all around the car and found it to be all original paint. He did this before I was planning on selling it so i didnt take any pictures of it. All original paint, transmission and engine.

I took the car for a small drive Friday evening I forgot how quick it is. Because it is so light weight it has a lot of get up and go. Its a fun car to drive and it turns heads for those who know anything about Porsches. @Clem @dealmaker599 @NYSport

@Porscheman70 Believe you me he would appreciate hearing that but since his wife passed he doesn't recognize most people including myself so contacting him won't happen. I had some of the parts from his car when we cleaned out their home he didn't know what to do with them . There are not many people that impress me and he was one of the few. Although his wife was an angle and made my 40 years of PCA membership a pleasure and his RSA was always meticulously clean.

@cobalt Thank you for this backstory. I tried to reach out to your friend. I have appreciated his meticulous care of this fine auto. I have done my best to follow his good example.
I am somewhat saddened to see this car again. The second (majority ownership) owner is a good friend of mine. He and his wife were some of the finest people I know. He was a talented man and one of the most influential in PCA. He actually invented Drivers Ed which we have been doing as a region for nearly 55 years. One time National PCA president and patriarch of our local region. His wife was the loveliest person I know and is memorialized in PCA headquarters as the quintessential "Volunteer".
I have never seen someone so meticulous and caring for a car like he was. This was his pride and joy and it showed in every way.
I hope this car finds another owner like him. I know the day he sold it part of him was never the same. His spirit live on in this car.
