A stripped-down driver-focused version of the 964 developed exclusively for the U.S. market, the RS America features a lightweight design derived from the European-spec Carrera RS. This 1993 example is one of only 701 RS Americas produced in total. It came factory-finished in Guards Red over a black interior and equipped with an optional limited-slip differential. The car has also been modified with front and rear spoilers, front brake ducts, integrated driving lights, 17” Fuchs-style wheels, reupholstered Sport Seats, an Alcantara-trimmed steering wheel, a B&B performance exhaust, Rennline monoball strut mounts, Rennline adjustable camber plates, a Weltmeister pulley hub, 928 GTS calipers, Zimmermann drilled rotors, Bilstein HD shocks, and a Rothsport short shifter. Acquired by the current owner in 2011 at 123k miles and treated to a complete engine rebuild the following year, this RS America is now being offered for auction out of Florida with just over 129k miles showing on the odometer.
The RS America came without a sunroof or rear window wiper as standard equipment and features “RS” decals on the lower rear quarters. Finished in Guards Red, this example has been modified with an aftermarket front spoiler, integrated front driving lights, fog light brake duct inserts, aftermarket AP Design headlamps, and a ducktail rear spoiler. The original whale tail decklid spoiler is included in the sale. The car rides on aftermarket Fuchs-style wheels measuring 7.5” wide in the front and 9” wide at the rear, dressed in Dunlop tires from 2011. The seller notes most of the car’s bodywork was refinished under previous ownership, and the paint remains in good overall condition with some minor imperfections around the exterior. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The lightweight interior features flat door panels with cloth pull straps and power-adjustable Sport Seats reupholstered in black leather and Alcantara. Other accessories include a custom Alcantara-trimmed three-spoke steering wheel, red safety belts, power windows, air conditioning, aluminum Rennline pedals and gauge bezels, a Rothsport short shifter, an aluminum parking brake cover, a fire extinguisher, and a Porsche Traffic Pro CD stereo.
Factory-rated at 247 HP, the air-cooled 3.6-liter M64 flat-six engine drives the rear wheels through a 5-speed G50 manual transaxle and a limited-slip differential. The RS America came with standard rack-and-pinion steering and the M030 Sport Suspension package, which includes shorter springs, stiffer dampers, and a thicker front stabilizer bar. This example has been modified with a B&B performance exhaust, a Weltmeister pulley hub (1:1 fan speed), Rennline monoball strut mounts, Rennline adjustable front camber plates, 928 GTS brake calipers, Zimmermann drilled brake rotors, and Bilstein HD shocks and struts. The 901 Shop of Stuart, Florida, performed a complete engine rebuild in 2012; a corresponding invoice is provided in the gallery. The seller notes that the alternator makes some noise.
This sale will include a spare tire, a tire inflator, the original rear decklid, service records, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “The RS America is a blast to drive!”

@WilsonCollection. Thank you. Quickly looking at other RS Americas on this and another auction site, they all have a CARFAX from original. Don't worry about posting paint meter readings for me. I would want to bring this beauty back to original and it seems that would be a bit more work than I have time to do.

@YoungtimerArizona SO, the front bumper is original and modified. The holes were cut into the bumper. The car is not coming with the original wheels. Most of the original parts are not coming with the car with the exception of the steering wheel center ( not the original steering wheel itself ) and the cd changer. And as to your question concerning the vegicle history report, it is my understanding that some of the older low production number cars from the early nineties sometimes didn't make it into the CarFax system right away, so this could be the reason we don't see it show up until 2011. We do not have any records prior to 2011 except for a handful of receipts from the previous owner. To my knowledge there is no frame damage and I don't see any indications of repairs. However the exterior of the car had been repainted at some point. I did do some paint meter readings and I will share them here in a few minutes.
I hope this answers all your questions.
Regards

@WilsonCollection
Sorry for the quick follow up question, but It looks like the back of the interior was modified from America RS spec to a full delete similar to Euro Carrera RS. Do you have the original parts? Along those lines, do you have the original steering wheel or any of the other original parts that were removed from the car when modified?
@WilsonCollection Just a follow up to my previous post when you have a chance to get to it. I see what appear to be paint drips around both front fog lights. Obviously, the front bumper was resprayed, but it made me wonder if the bumper is aftermarket or if holes were cut into the original bumper to install the lights and if the lights are operational. Also, I assume the wheels are not original Fuchs, but reproductions, correct? Do you have the original equipment wheels from Porsche that go with the car?
@Stingboren did you end up seeing it?
The CAFAX is missing the first 18 years of the cars life. That is a really big gap without any record of the car’s history. Do you have records prior to 2011? Has the car has been tracked at all? Also, do you know or can you tell if the car has had any body and frame repairs or has been repainted? If so, what parts and how thick are the paint readings? please share paint readings if you can.
@Galevin the warning light will stay. It is likely related to a slight resistance in the A/C flaps which is fairly common. Everything works, however the slightest resistance can cause the light to be triggered. I don't know for sure this is the issue, I am merely speculating. And more broadly speaking this warning light could be coming from a spectrum of things. I don't have the right scanner like the KTS 300 Bosch Hammer Kit, however this warning light is very commonly known to recure in the 964's and often times trying to remove the light permanently is like chasing your tail. So much so, that Porsche installed a warning light cancel button to clear the light. My honest opinion is I don't notice any issues so the light is probably inconsequential, however I can't guarantee this is the case.
Regards
@WilsonCollection, so are you selling this as is with the warning light on or repairing the issue?
Hey everyone. A few things to note: The central warning light is on and it is not clear why. Funny enough, there is a warning light cancel button. There have been no noticeable issues. Also the car has been modified quite a bit, so please look through all the photos and compare all the subtle modifications made from the factory RS America. If anyone has any questions please ask away.
@Cozad1955 The 3.8 badge on the heater bypass just came with the part. The factory whale tail is two part. The lower part is metal and the upper part is fiberglass or plastic. The ducktail is that is on it now is fiberglass.
Regards
I notice "3.8" on the manifold. Was the engine displacement increased with the rebuild? Also, is the rear deck lid and ducktail metal or composite? Thanks.
Hello, I have bid, but I am interested in seeing the car. I have sent you a PM. Thank you so much for your time.
