One of only 137 Targa versions imported to the United States for the model year, this 1993 Porsche 964 Carrera 2 comes finished in Grand Prix White over a black partial leather interior. It was factory equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission and optional limited-slip differential paired with its 3.6-liter flat-six engine. Prior to the current owner’s purchase in 2017, this 964 underwent extensive restoration including a repaint, overhauled brakes and suspension, an engine rebuild, and fresh powder coating by Passion Driven in New Castle, Delaware. The car also received an upgraded Fabspeed exhaust, performance chip, and 19” Innsbruck wheels. Driven just over 4k miles since completion of the work, this rare 964 Targa is now being offered for auction out of New Jersey.

This 964 is finished in Grand Prix White with a removable black Targa top. The car was repainted in its original color during the restoration and received all new seals and gaskets as well as a front splitter, dual exhaust rear bumper conversion, and red-painted brake calipers. It rides on a set of Victor Equipment 19” Innsbruck wheels measuring 8” wide in front and 10” wide in the rear, dressed in Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires. The exterior is protected by a layer of paint protection film and ceramic coating, detailed images are provided in the gallery along with paint meter readings and a clean CARFAX report.

The black partial leather interior has been customized with a set of Lloyds “Targa” logo floor mats and aluminum-look instrument dials. Factory equipment includes an optional rear window wiper, electric height-adjustable seats, power windows and mirrors, cruise control, and automatic climate control. New hood and decklid struts were installed during the restoration and the seller confirms all gauges and accessories to be working properly.

Up to 247 HP and 228 lb.-ft of torque are sent to the rear wheels from an air-cooled 3.6-liter flat-six engine paired with a 5-speed G50 manual gearbox and an optional limited-slip differential. The engine was rebuilt just over 4k miles ago including all new bearings, seals, rod bolts, piston rings, valve guides, timing chains, tensioners, oil lines, and belts. The fan shroud, valve covers, exhaust mount, A/C compressor bracket, and engine sheet metal were all freshly powder-coated. The brakes were overhauled with new pads and cross-drilled rotors, and the suspension was upgraded with new Bilstein shocks and H&R lowering springs. The engine has also been upgraded with a Fasbpeed dual exhaust and performance chip for increased sound and power output.

This sale will include the original window sticker, owner’s manuals, toolkit, spare tire, air pump, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and a clean title.

    Beautiful Targa!

  • Tangerine997 (seller) 2 years, 2 monthsago

    Hello everyone.
We have reached the final day of this auction for a very special and rare 964 Targa.
I will be available throughout the day to answer any last minute questions.
This is truly a one of one with 1993 being the last production year for any 964 and the fewest Targa's made as well at 137 that came to the states.
There may be some 964's out there with a window sticker that says 1994 but none were produced that year.
The true way to tell is by what's on the production sticker on the door jam.
Just a friendly reminder to anyone new to the auction process is to make a point of refreshing your browser often so you are in sync with the timer.
When the clock gets down below the two minute mark, and a new bid is placed, it resets back to 2 minutes so you may miss out on what the actual high bid is and not win the car.
Thanks and good luck to all.

  • Tangerine997 (seller) 2 years, 2 monthsago

@Jdub67 thanks, I agree. She's stunning in person.

  • Jdub67 (registered bidder) 2 years, 2 monthsago

    Just beautiful !

  • carl_hunter (registered bidder) 2 years, 2 monthsago

    @Tangerine997 thanks for your information

  • Tangerine997 (seller) 2 years, 2 monthsago

@carl_hunter I did reach out to Bodymotion as I said I would to try and get the car in for a compression test before the auction ends tomorrow and not a chance.
First opening is not until Thursday 27th.
    Sorry.

  • Tangerine997 (seller) 2 years, 2 monthsago

@carl_hunter @carl_hunter, the only paperwork I ever had is what's in the listing which are the last two pages, 186 and 187 from the shop that did the build. If I had more documents I would surely post them.
This restoration shop closed their doors right after covid hit and I have no way of getting in touch with them. I do have Marc's number, the builder that produced the list I posted and can reach out to him for some more detail if that helps.
As for a compression test or even a leak down, given the fact that this car is so newly redone with only 4400 miles added since and they were all clocked by me, I never gave it a thought.
It pulls like a freight train with no issues whatsoever from the day they delivered to me.
Aside from the yearly oil and filter change I do myself with Motul 20W50 that was just done in September, the only other item that needed to be addressed was the AC charge done back in 2019 by Bodymotion. Regardless of how much work is done on an air cooled car, they all need a recharge almost each year. Bodymotion is a very high end Porsche shop in my area and they have been maintaining all of my cars for over 20 years and if I ever felt there was an issue with this cars motor it would have been in their shop long before the auction went live.
The car looks and runs like new.
If this car was like my 1986 930 that has not had the work done to it that was done, I certainly would have sent it in for a compression/leak down and posted the results.
I will call them tomorrow and try to get it in but I'm sure I already know the answer given how busy they are. They are also calling for heavy rain tomorrow in my town so if that's the case the car won't being leaving the garage.
Hopefully you find my response to be nothing but transparent.

  • carl_hunter (registered bidder) 2 years, 2 monthsago

Can you provide the paperwork on the engine rebuild including the piston rings replacement. A compression test would be great.
    Thanks

  • Tangerine997 (seller) 2 years, 2 monthsago

@Craignyc no unfortunately I do not. Not sure if you saw the video from the builder discussing it where he said they wanted to give it a more sporty look with the aftermarket wheels and
not use the factory stock wheels. Marc offered them to me at the time and I declined.
In hindsight I guess I should have thrown them in the truck.
Same with the exhaust, don't have that either but I posted the original factory chip from the ECM that will go with the car. I purchased a new 964 coupe when they first came out so I had something to compare the targa to which is what drew me to it as not being bone stock.
The Fabspeed dual exhaust with their chip upgrade really makes a difference. A little more throaty but not overbearing and an increase in HP to about 275.
It really wakes up the car and if you're a fan of a stock 964, you will love what this one delivers.

@Tangerine997 you are most welcomed, very nice work done to this beautiful 964 Targa

@Tangerine997 I read the post and didn’t really see anything that answered his question.
In general, people differ in abilities and attention and it doesn’t help your cause to snap back at any question. May be a silly question, but help them along and you may be providing info other potential bidders will find helpful as well.

  • Tangerine997 (seller) 2 years, 2 monthsago

@knurbflockle , that was insulting, really? The question was insulting.

  • Tangerine997 (seller) 2 years, 2 monthsago

@Johnny3 @Johnny3, thank you for noticing.

  • knurbflockle 2 years, 2 monthsago

@Tangerine997 not sure insulting potential bidders is your best look here.

  • Johnny3 (registered bidder) 2 years, 2 monthsago

Its been awhile since I have seen a 964 C2 Targa for sale.... cant even recall a MY93 or 94 beautiful example, GLWTA

  • Tangerine997 (seller) 2 years, 2 monthsago

@Jczz74 @Jczz74, it's painfully obvious you never took the time to read the listing.
Rather then responding to your question, why don't you try doing that???

  • Tangerine997 (seller) 2 years, 2 monthsago

@cobalt @cobalt, thank you so much for the kind words.
Yes, I do remember meeting and speaking with you at that event for the NNJR of the PCA.
    That was a good day.

  • Jczz74 (registered bidder) 2 years, 2 monthsago

If car is so nice, why was it repainted and so much work done on a relatively low mileage car? Thank you

  • cobalt 2 years, 2 monthsago

@Tangerine997 I recognized your car immediately. I met you at our local PCA summer picnic maybe 2018 or 19. When I first saw your car from across the parade field it stood out and it made a very nice impression.

For those interested when I spoke with the owner I was floored when he told me the mileage of his Targa. It was a quick look but the car was in amazingly good condition and I expected him to say it had 23k miles it was that clean. It seems he has kept it that way since.

FYI the info I have says there were only 77 US spec C4/C2 tip/manuals made for the MY 1993 and a possible 21 for 1994. The vins actually start at 061 and not 001 so subtract 60 units from the known last vin number and it is a fairly accurate numbers.

    Sorry to see it go.

    GLWA

Hello everyone and welcome to this auction for my 911/964 Targa.
Hopefully you all feel there is more than enough documents posted to help answer just about all questions that may come up but if not please ask away as I'll be happy to do so.
Just a little history on how this very special car landed in my garage.
This car was sourced by Passion Driven out of New Castle, DE and restored by Master Builder Marc Koenig. the build was completed in 2017 and was put on display by them at the Hershey, PA swap meet in the for sale lot that year.
That's where I first saw it and knew it was for me. So I made arrangements to go and see it at their shop and take a test drive. I have owned it since May of 2017.
Since day one, it's been stored in my climate controlled garage with a custom cover over it (also included in the sale) and has never once seen any type of bad weather.
It's also never been through a car wash since I took ownership, only hand washes and dried with a hot air blower, never with any type of cloth or towel.
The miles that I have added were all from PCA events in my region, cars and coffee, and IMSA races where there was a car coral at the Porsche Platz tent.
This car has everything it needs and more, just missing a new owner as it's time for me to move on.
There are a total of six videos posted and I feel the most important one to see is the fifth one down from Passion Driven with Marc discussing the build.
Hope everyone finds it interesting so have fun bidding.
