The final evolution of Porsche’s front-engine two-door sports car, the 968 was introduced for the 1992 model year featuring newly designed bodywork and a 3.0-liter 16-valve inline-four engine. This example is one of 649 North American Coupe versions produced for the inaugural model year and is finished in Black over grey upholstery. It was also specified with a 6-speed manual transmission, a limited-slip differential, cruise control, a sunroof, headlight washers, a HiFi sound system, and more. Showing under 164k miles on the odometer, this early 968 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Georgia.
The Porsche 968 evolved from the 944 S2, featuring a smoother rear end with rounded taillights and a redesigned front end with 928-style pop-up headlights. This 1992 example is finished in Black (L700) and equipped with front fog lights, headlamp washers, an electric sunroof, a rear window wiper, and 16” five-spoke alloy wheels fitted with BFGoodrich G-Force Sport tires from 2011. The seller notes spider cracks on the hood with the clear coat remaining intact, small dings on the passenger-side door, deteriorated rubber between the side molding and body, and intermittent operation of the rear hatch release motor. The cabin features power-adjustable seats upholstered in grey with matching carpets and door panels, contrasted by a black upper dashboard, center console, and four-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel. Amenities include folding rear seatbacks, power windows and mirrors, automatic climate control, cruise control, a quartz clock, a digital temperature display, and a locking glovebox. The audio system comprises a HiFi sound system with an amplifier and an aftermarket radio, which is currently inoperable. Notable imperfections include a split seam on the driver's seat, a missing center console lid, dashboard cracks near the defroster vents, and cracking on the top of the passenger door card.
This 968 is equipped with a 3.0-liter inline-four DOHC engine with 4-valves-per-cylinder and VarioCam variable valve timing. As much as 236 HP and 225 lb.-ft of torque are sent to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transaxle and an optional limited-slip differential. Performance features include force-sensitive power steering, front & rear stabilizer bars, and an anti-lock braking system (ABS). @johnhyrum I do not have any pictures of the accident damage (it occurred over 20 years ago). I was not even aware of an accident until it showed up on the carfax. The repairs were apparently top notch because I can see no evidence of them. Please let me know if I can provide any additional information or pictures. Thanks

It’s nice to see such a well used 968 still being enjoyed on the road.
Regarding the early VIN (0084), this should therefore be the 24th car built for public sale as Porsche reserved the first 60 VINs for internal use.
