We are pleased to offer this 1992 Porsche 964 Carrera 2 Cabriolet finished in Paint to Sample Summer Yellow over a two-seat black partial leather interior. One of less than a thousand U.S. examples produced for the model year, this 1992 Carrera Cabriolet is accompanied by extensive records and receipts totaling nearly $100k. In the last decade, the engine was rebuilt to a 3.8L displacement for an estimated output of up to 325 HP along with upgraded Bilstein struts, convertible top service, new paint, a new Golden Rod shifter, MOMO steering wheel, and more. Originally registered in Florida, this 964 currently resides with its third owner in Southern California where it is now being offered for auction showing approximately 121k miles on the odometer.
This Carrera 2 was custom ordered in the Paint to Sample color of Summer Yellow (Limonengelb, 10W), among the rarest shades of yellow in Porsche’s color palette offered from 1987-1988 only. The car is said to have been completely refinished in its original color 5 years ago, while the convertible top received new seals, a new control unit, manual latches, and microswitches in 2017. Clear paint protection film has been applied over the front bumper, hood, and fenders. The factory 17” Cup Design wheels feature a custom black finish and new Michelin tires. Additional images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The black partial leather interior comes outfitted with a pair of Sport Seats along with a MOMO Prototipo steering wheel and a pedal/floorboard set from Silverlake Projects. The rear seats are omitted in place of a parcel shelf with underlying storage compartments, and the sound system has been upgraded with a modern Blaupunkt Bluetooth stereo.
In 2015, the engine was rebuilt and upgraded to a 3.8L displacement using Mahle pistons and cylinders. The heads were rebuilt by Patrick Motorsports while the camshafts were ground to Super C2 specs by Elgin Industries. The exhaust features FVD Brubacher 100-cell catalytic converters, heat exchangers, and dual outlets. Over $45k was invested in the engine alone which is now estimated to produce up to 325 HP. The rear wheels are driven through a 5-speed G50 manual transmission which has been recently upgraded with a new FD Motorsports Golden Rod shifter. The clutch pedal assembly was replaced in October of 2018 followed by the master and slave cylinders in June of 2019. Other maintenance highlights include new Bilstein struts in 2015, a new A/C compressor in 2016, and most recently a new battery, oil change, A/C recharge, and wheel alignment in December of 2021.
This sale will include a clean title. Sporting an exceedingly rare Paint to Sample color and upgraded 3.8L engine, this one-of-a-kind Carrera Cabriolet awaits its next owner.
