Available for auction is this 1992 Porsche 964 Carrera 2 Cabriolet finished in Slate Grey Metallic over a Black partial leather interior. This 1-owner 1992 example was sold new by Rusnak Porsche of Pasadena and has lived in California since. In 2016 it received a complete engine rebuild, a new clutch, and more at a reported cost of $30k. Now it is being offered for auction by its seller out of California, while showing just under 65k miles on the odometer.
This 964 is finished in Slate Grey Metallic with a black Cabriolet soft top. The front trunk lid was refinished to address minor chips and the finish and bodywork are said to remain in fantastic overall condition. A new Cabriolet top and liner were recently fitted and a collection of detailed images can be found in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX and paint meter readings. The 964 was also the first 911 to have been fitted with ABS brakes and power steering, as well as coil springs and shock absorbers in place of torsion bars. The CARFAX includes 7 service history records dating back as far as 2002. In 2016 the car received a complete engine rebuild, as well as a new clutch and flywheel courtesy of Plati German Car Service of Passedena, California. @TyStav, according to the previous owner the vehicle was recovered before it was reported missing to insurance. That was in 2002, the engine rebuild was performed in 2016.
@atdds, engine number photo will be added to the gallery shortly.
@chizchiz, paint meter readings should be added to the gallery shortly.
Here to answer any questions in the final hours of the auction - cheers.
do you know if the engine # matches the # on the hood. I can see the transmission is correct. only reason i was asking is because of the last person's question. sounded like they knew something.
Any details about the car being listed on the car fax as being stolen and the engine being replaced shortly after that? Thanks.
Lovely! Can you please provide paint meter readings?
@TheGerman Hey there, I don’t believe the A/C was converted during the rebuild, however, the A/C does blow cold. Thanks.
@ ChequeredFlag (seller)
The A/C is already converted to R 134a??

@jfcl911 Hi there. While I'm not 100% sure the reasoning behind the owners decision to have the rebuild, I can say that we knew going in that he was fastidious when it comes to his cars. You can see from the amount of records, including on Carfax, how frequent he serviced this car, in particular. This was one of the main reasons we wanted this 964. Our mechanic shored a few things up, but it was clearly meticulously maintained and loved. Hope that helps.
Hi- Reason for engine rebuild?- Miles since? Thanks
