Introduced as Porsche’s top-of-the-line 911 model in 1991, the 964 Turbo or “965” featured striking wide bodywork and a familiar Tea Tray rear spoiler along with a reworked and upgraded version of the 930’s proven 3.3-liter engine. This original Gulf States/Kingdom of Saudia Arabia-market example was re-routed to Japan shortly after production and imported by Mizwa, with its first registration in Japan dating back to June 1992. It is one of only 836 examples sold outside of the U.S. (RoW) and according to the seller is one of only six Turbo 3.3 models finished in Rubystone Red. Recently imported from Japan and restored following a glass-out repaint and complete refresh of the full leather interior, including the addition of factory Sport Seats, this stunning 964 Turbo is now being offered for auction out of Texas with just over 61k kilometers (38,145 miles) on the odometer.
Arguably the most distinctive Porsche color of the era, Rubystone Red was offered on the 964 model between 1991 and 1992 and is regarded among the rarest and most sought-after Porsche colors of all time. This 1992 example is said to have been recently disassembled with all glass out, stripped to bare metal, and refinished in its factory-specified Rubystone Red paint color. It features Turbo-specific bodywork with wide fenders and a Tea Tray rear spoiler. Other equipment includes European-spec bumpers and side marker lights, fog lights, headlamp washers, dual power mirrors, an electric sunroof, upgraded Turbo 3.6 "Big Red" brake calipers, twin polished exhaust tips, and 17” Cup Design wheels with colored Porsche crest center caps. The seller indicates the paintwork was completed in 2024 by a certified Porsche specialist, the rubber seals have been replaced, new tires have been installed, and the car’s undercarriage has been professionally cleaned with dry ice. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The interior has been recently reupholstered using genuine Porsche-spec Black Nappa leather to match the recently added power-adjustable front Sport Seats. Accessories include power windows, air conditioning, cruise control, a central locking system, and a tachometer-integrated onboard computer. An aftermarket Sony cassette stereo is paired with new Porsche Classic speakers installed in 2024. A GReddy turbo boost gauge in place of the dashboard clock and the original quartz clock is included with the sale. The seller reports the air conditioning system was recently recharged and all gauges and accessories are fully functional apart from a disconnected trunk-mounted CD changer.
The 964 Turbo is powered by an upgraded version of the 930’s turbocharged 3.3-liter flat-six engine including a revised air intake and exhaust, revised Bosch Motronic programming, a 50% larger intercooler, and an improved K27 turbocharger with 0.7 bar maximum boost. A factory-rated output of 315 HP and 332 lb.-ft of torque is sent to the rear wheels through a 5-speed G50 manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. This example has been tastefully modified with a B&B exhaust system and upgraded “Big Red” Brembo front brakes from the 964 Turbo 3.6, but is otherwise stock according to the seller. A full mechanical service was in preparation for sale including a brake fluid flush, an oil & air filter change, a wheel alignment, and recharging of the A/C refrigerant.
This sale will include owner’s manuals, a toolkit, an air pump, a car cover, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “This 1992 Porsche 964 Turbo in factory Rubystone is 1 of 6 in existence. It was imported from Japan in December of last year and has been fully restored inside and out in the hopes that it finds a new home in a worthy collection and keeps turning heads for another thirty years. I will be present and available to answer any questions throughout the auction. Happy bidding!”

Well done @seller putting that out there.
The car will sell today.
This is a $275k car. I doubt its reached the reserve yet. A real beauty that won’t depreciate.
@stmoritzcollection Thanks for your feedback. Please let me know if I can provide any additional information to all the documents and photos that have already been provided.
@seller Thank you for your response. CarVX (https://carvx.jp/) provides some great information on Japanese history. Unfortunately unlike the Carfax you have in the states, they take approximately 24 hours to obtain. I would have ordered on if I had seen this earlier. Looks like a lovely example. Best of luck with the close.
I am SO JEALOUS of whoever wins this beauty, it's still priced 280k below the one in my friend's collection here in Miami.
@stmoritzcollection Hi, there is no CarFax in Japan. Please send me your email address and I will send you every photo. The car was repainted and reupholstered to restore everything to factory original condition. It is only 1 of 6 in the world and a special car and deserved the full treatment it received. Thanks for stopping by.
@seller Apologies for the late questions, but I am just seeing this beautiful car.
Do you have a CarVX report from Japan that you can share?
Also any pre-restoration photos from prior to the car being painted would be wonderful. Any additional context as to the reasoning behind the full repaint would be helpful.
@seller : it is an art to find these cars, invest emotion, money and time to bring them to market. GLWA! Will be rooting from the side lines to both you and a winner that would enjoy this beauty.
This has been an interesting experience. I have owned this car for a year and put a lot of money and time and attention into it, and I hope it goes to a good home. It is a beautiful car and it will sell today. Happy Bidding! Please let me know if there is anything else I can provide.
very nice car reminds me my red turbo 3.6.

@911_Tea auction is for sure off the rails!
@seller never helps to be aggressive towards bidders when you’re relying on them to be purchasing your car.
Tried it before, never works.

There are 7 photos of the restoration posted to the gallery (of the over 250+). I am very happy to send all 252 to you. Please send me a DM or, again, I'm happy to schedule a PPI at the shop of your choosing. Should you have any additional questions, I'm happy to answer them.
@911_Tea amen! Voting you for president of the online auction worlds. Cheering for enthusiasts, the awesome 964 platform and this beauty. “let the auction run folks” that video is cool @seller! 🤤
Wow. This auction is off the rails.
A registered bidder had some questions…what’s the problem? So, a person asked some questions the seller didn’t like…OK. Move on. Why give the asking party any more of your time?
Then, some random person jumps in with insults. Again, drawing attention to the person the seller wishes would go away. Doesn’t seem like the favor the seller had hoped for.
It’s just cars, people. Let the auction run. The only person who stands to lose with these types off exchanges is the seller.
It’s a cool looking car. Let’s see what it does!
WOW I've seen the one in Miami in a showroom but this restoration is better. Perfect work xx

I'm not going to put up with the typical foolishness that is involved in these auctions @Carrera2. This is a rare car. The only other one in the world for sale, is in Miami and they are asking over half a million dollars. If you're a real bidder, pay for a PPI. I'll take it there tomorrow morning. But, you're not. So, everything that you asked for is getting posted today. I have jumped through all your hoops, you hater.
Don't bid, if you feel uncomfortable.
The leakdown results are posted. It has brand new tires, an alignment, an oil change, air filter, basically everything you could ever want. It's a new car. There's no hostility, but you're taking issue and making assertions when there is no there, there. It seems intentional.
I paid for the restoration in cash as an individual. Leakdown results taken last week are already posted.
@seller - why the hostility? I’m truly asking questions to understand the car, especially one that currently sits above $200K.
I’m no dealer, and I was seriously interested. Your response tells me everything I need to know about the car.
IMO - when you put a car online on an auction site, the seller should provide more than enough info for any potential bidder to make a decision whether or not the car is for them. A PPI could potentially be avoided if the seller preemptively addresses general / expected questions about the car (compression tests, befits and after photos, etc.). But to not provide that information and then become hostile raises huge red flags.
Also, a PPI at times is just not possible, as well as many buyers are out of state, out of country, etc. so the more info the seller offers the better. This shouldn’t be met with hostility from the seller. This isn’t a $10,000 Boxster.
The reason I asked for before pics is the 30k in paint and body were insurance paid. Typically insurance pays claims when a car is damaged in my experience. I also assume no major engine work was completed since during restoration the fan was not reverted back to stock or swapped out. Little things like this add up and for the duration of the auction haven’t been supplied.
To recap: no, I’m not a dealer. Yes, I was interested. No, I will absolutely not bid on a car for which basic questions are not answered, but instead meet with hostility.
GLWS
@Carrera2 I will post some photos (over 250+ exist of the repaint) and videos in the morning. By your comments, you seem to be an edgelord rival dealer, broker who is fundamentally trying to squeeze a lemon on the auction. I'll post the invoice for the sport seats. The (very clear and documented) explanation regarding the Gulf States & Mizwa and recent mechanical work are in the write up. If you're a serious bidder, the car is available for a PPI at a local shop of your choosing. So, bid or schedule a PPI or...
@Carrera2 it’s literally in the opening paragraph of the auction “ This original Gulf States/Kingdom of Saudia Arabia-market example was re-routed to Japan shortly after production and imported by Mizwa, with its first registration in Japan dating back to June 1992.”
Thanks for the reply, look forward to seeing the before and restoration pics.
The sport seats look like standard seats with extra foam added, maybe just the angle of the photos? I tried to compare to other auctions but still always look slim.
According to Factory PPS in the gallery this is a Gulf States car, not sure what Mizwa has to do with it. Can you please explain?
Can you respond to the recent mechanical work you commissioned?

@Carrera2 Photos of the leakdown results (taken last week) should now be posted to the photos.
Yes, the car comes with all of its original books and manuals from Mizwa. I will post extensive photos of them early this week since the auction platform is closed over the weekend and I need their help to do that, as well as videos: cold start, walk around and driving.
The underside of the hood was painted, along with the rest of the car. Japanese-market cars of this era (as well as 993s) are well known not to have options stickers under the hood. The official Porsche Product Specifications sheet is included in the documents.
Yes, I will post photos of the restoration process. And, as stated in the write-up, the original VDO quartz clock comes with the vehicle. Please let me know if you have any additional questions or would like to schedule an independent PPI at a local shop.
Bid in the amount of $212,964
Also, has a compression / leakdown test been completed? Can you share the results? Thanks.
Sweet Ruby!
During your in and out restoration, what engine work was completed?
Does the car come with its original manuals and Mizwa supplements?
Did the collision center paint the underside of the hood? If so, was the original options sticker present? Can you upload pictures of the car before restoration?
Does the original clock or radio come with the car?
