A street-legal derivative of the 964 Carrera Cup race car and a spiritual successor to the original 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7, the 964 Carrera RS was produced in limited quantities for the European market as a lightweight high-performance model. Based on the Carrera 2 Coupe, it features a stiffened chassis with a special seam-welded bodyshell, a basic interior with Recaro bucket seats, shorter gear ratios, unassisted steering, magnesium wheels, and a more powerful 3.6-liter flat-six engine. This 1992 example is finished in Rubystone Red and was purchased by the seller from a large collection in Japan before being imported to the United States in January 2024. Recently serviced and inspected by a Porsche specialist, this Carrera RS is now being offered for auction out of Colorado with approximately 52k kilometers (32k miles) showing on the odometer.
Compared to the standard 964 model, the Carrera RS variant was manufactured using a special seam-welding technique and utilizes an aluminum front bonnet, thinner glass windows, a lightweight rear bumper design, and aero-style mirrors borrowed from the 911 Turbo. This 1992 example is finished in Rubystone Red, a rare and desirable color that debuted on the 964 Carrera RS. It rides on factory 17" Cup Design magnesium alloy wheels dressed in Bridgestone Potenza tires showing date codes from 2018 and 2019. The seller notes the car was refinished in its original color under prior ownership and remains in very good overall condition apart from a few chips and a small crack on the rear spoiler. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The Carrera RS features a basic lightweight interior devoid of sound-deadening material, rear seats, airbags, power accessories, air conditioning, a radio, door pockets, or a sunroof. The interior of this 964 includes a pair of factory Recaro bucket seats in black leather with contrasting tri-tone pink and purple centers. Other accessories include Rubystone Red seatbelts and cloth door pulls, a four-spoke “RS” leather steering wheel, manual window cranks, a quartz clock, heater controls, a rear window defroster, and an added radio. Some signs of wear are present on the seats and the seller reports all gauges and accessories to be fully functional.
The Carrera RS is powered by a special version of the 964’s 3.6-liter M64 engine featuring hand-selected pistons and cylinders, solid rubber mounts, a lightweight singles mass flywheel, and revised ECU programming. Up to 260 HP is sent to the rear wheels through a close-ratio 5-speed G50 manual gearbox and a limited-slip differential. The car features unassisted rack and pinion steering, front brakes borrowed from the 911 Turbo, and a lower and stiffer suspension than the standard Carrera 2. The seller indicates there are no maintenance records available, although the car was thoroughly serviced and inspected by a Porsche specialist upon import.
This sale will include owner’s manuals, a toolkit, a spare tire, an air pump, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “It is a very well-kept example. It presents extremely well, and it runs and drives as it should.”

@trkshoe Interesting. I haven't noticed this until now. I have no idea if they were swapped at some point. It is possible that hey had them out for something and just didn't pay attention to which seat is left and right when they put them back in. It doesn't look like there is a good way to tell them apart.
@SportscarCollection If you look at the back of the seats, the buckle markings from hitting the back of the seats are on the inside... just about every p-car with carbons/race seats has them... not unusual, but unusual its on the inside.
@garrege The sticker says "horn". I didn't want to remove it and risk damaging the steering wheel. The door pulls are Rubystone.
@trkshoe The entire car was resprayed at some point under previous ownership. To my knowledge, the seats are in their correct locations. What makes you think that they were switched?
@bender706 It is just the echo in my warehouse. The engine does not make any abnormal sounds.
What sticker/plaque is on the steering wheel?
Are the door pull straps rubystone red or guards red?
Look like the front hood and left fender has been repainted... any idea when that happened and why?
Also, did someone switch the seats from one side to the other?
Is it me or in the running video there is a metalic sound coming from the fan/engine?

@GruppeG We did an oil change, brake flush, replaced a coolant fan relay and fuel door latch and I had my mechanic go over the car and make sure that nothing else is needed.
Can we get a detailed list of what was serviced and inspected, along with an inspection report post your importation?
Attention Bidders: I just posted photos from the leakdown and compression test and have included underbody photos of the car with the skid plate removed. All is good and no worries for the lucky winner of this car!
@racedeck The leakdown and compression test results have been uploaded. They gave the car a good bill of health!
Bid in the amount of $165,000
very nice example... I think adding a few good photos from the underside would greatly help being a Japan import ( I have imported and own several JDM's , so coming from experience) . Also have you had a compression/leakdown on motor done? with no service record this would also be helpful with 2 days out.

@goldfingerjr Unfortunately, I do not. It is not the first time I've purchased a car in Japan and it has always been difficult to get records from the sellers. At least in my experience.
Are there any repair/service documents available that would in any way tell the mileage story of the car over its life?
@DocGraham629 Yes, it is. The carpet is in great condition overall.
Is the carpet, especially in the rear, glued tight down?
@Tugboat997 Suspension looks factory to me. I believe it is only the added stereo.
@DocGraham629 Hello. As far as I know they are original. I will get it on the lift on Monday and get additional undercarriage photos.
Cool car. What mods are on it? Stereo, suspension?
Hi
Thank you for the listing.
Can you post some pictures of the underside of the car with the panels off?
Are those reflectors and light covers original?
They look new.
Thank you for any additional information.
