A lightweight performance model born from the Carrera Cup racing series, the Porsche 964 Carrera RS was produced in limited quantities for the European market featuring a stiffened chassis, increased engine output, shorter gear ratios, unassisted steering, and a special seam-welded bodyshell. This 1992 example comes finished in a classic Guards Red over a Black interior with Pebble Gray inserts. The seller states that the RS was originally delivered to Dusseldorf, Germany in late 1991 and was eventually imported to the United States in April 2019 by an Alabama collector, who later sold it to its current seller. Reported to have been thoroughly inspected and accompanied by a related invoice, this Carrera RS was previously listed on PCARMARKET and is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Illinois while showing approximately 57k kilometers (35k miles) on the odometer.
This RS is finished in Guards Red (84A) and features European-spec side marker lights and bumpers. The RS shares the bodyshell of the standard Carrera 2 with weight-saving revisions including a sunroof delete, fog light delete, an aluminum front bonnet, thinner glass windows, and special seam-welded panels. It rides on factory magnesium 17" Cup wheels dressed in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires from 2018 and 2021. The seller notes some signs of wear on the hood and front bumper, some minor paint imperfections, and possible touch-up paintwork beneath one of the windshield wipers. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The spartan interior of the Carrera RS came from the factory without sound-deadening material, rear seats, airbags, power accessories, air conditioning, a radio, or a sunroof. It features a pair of black racing-style bucket seats with grey and white inserts, lightweight carpeting, and lightweight door panels with pull straps and manual window cranks. All gauges, electronics, and accessories are reported to be working properly.
The Carrera RS is powered by a special version of the 964’s 3.6-liter M64 engine featuring hand-selected pistons and cylinders, solid rubber mounts, a lightweight singles mass flywheel, and revised ECU programming. Up to 260 HP is sent to the rear wheels through a close-ratio 5-speed G50 manual gearbox and a limited-slip differential. The car features unassisted rack & pinion steering and front brakes borrowed from the 911 Turbo. The seller states that the car is in good running order and a trusted automotive shop recently conducted a thorough inspection.
This sale will include a clean title, owner’s manuals, and a tool kit.
The seller would like you to know: “Hope you've enjoyed the auction and photos. This is a beautiful example of an RS car, an RS should be driven and this one can be. I debated many colors when looking for a 964, I've never wished it was anything but Guards Red. The color is beautiful and is proper for a 911. An RS feels nothing like a C2, It's hard to describe it, but once you spend some time in it you will feel it too. I replaced the 2016 Pirellis with the 2022 Michelin Pilot Sport Cups, They give great contact even when cold, and they significantly improved ride quality and feedback. An RS is a tail-happy car on cold Pirellis or Michelin Sports, but not the Cups. The car starts and drives perfectly, it received $7,000 in minor items, age-related, not worn, and been dusted and driven on occasion. Some of us treat every car we've owned as if it's going to be ours forever, this is one of those cars. Nothing to do but enjoy it.

what you feel driving these vs the normal C2 or the overrated RS America: they feel MUCH lighter- noticeably going around corners, under braking, etc the car handles so much better and transitions so much better. The RS in this config is over 250 lbs lighter than a C2.

I’ve added a photo of the exhaust. All I can gather is it has been refinished. Sorry I don’t have history.

@seller - thanks you.
Can you expand on the exhaust please? Did the previous over say what was done to the exhaust tip? Coated or modified?
the clutch releases just as it should. heavy, engages about 60% out and smooth. no clutch concerns I can speak to.
Bid in the amount of $125,000
beautiful looking car!
any clutch concerns? I am going by my experience and assuming this was driven on the track a fair amount. there was a previous comment about the struts and rotors being replaced, and there is no driving video, so just trying to get a sense of near term future work.
Bid in the amount of $120,000
even with just 260 whp she scoots quick and feel faster due to being significantly lightweight and short gearing reminds me of driving an older GT-3 but the sound of an air cooled engine is unique.

seller is very correct about the driving experience piloting an RS i bought a Carrera Cup car USA 5 years ago and it came with MCS suspension it's good for the track but too jarring for street enjoyment switched to factory RS suspension and everything becomes heaven, amazing feeling!

@seller - thank you. Do you have paint meter readings? The last auction appears to have some and it looks like a few areas have been repainted. Many of the pictures are so close it’s hard to see location of readings. Can you post new readings or shed light on repainted areas? Thank you again.
@markiemark private message me and I we can set up a time this weekend, mornings best for me.

@lefcz26657 I don’t know what California antique vehicle requires but, there are Carrera RS cars in California and registered.

@Chartreuse I’m on a business trip, should be able to get it Friday. Sorry, didn’t plan to be away from the car this week.
@seller - any luck on the options sticker in the manual? Thanks.

@augustusblack1942 upon some research, the green shocks are Bilsteins OEM specifications. B6, same as 1988 Turbos which makes sense since the brakes are also 1988 Turbo. The rotors look new so I would think that struts, shocks and rotors were done on all four corners in Germany.
Seller is very right about the overall driving experience of an RS being lightweight, short geared, extra HP,and different suspension makes this car special. It's a Cup Car with amenities. Good luck!

Will check the manual book later tonight for the hood sticker.
Thanks Char- I just uploaded what I think is the engine stamp photo.

Beautiful car seller.
2 questions:
1. Can you take a picture of the engine stamp please?
2. Is there another copy of the hood sticker in the owners manual? (I know they did this for 993s, not sure about 964s)
Bid in the amount of $6,000
@augustusblack1942 just uploaded two pictures, the front shocks are Kelly green, look pretty clean. Not sure of the make.

Hello. Beautiful car. The front shocks appear to be aftermarket. Can you please provide additional photos of front shock towers?
Thank you

@hayesproperties loaded just now. It’s faded away.
@hayesproperties - I’ve owned the car for 30 months. Having a 31 year old car look this good I’d imagine something was sprayed, but there’s no color, orange peel or finish mismatch. I’ll reach out to my trusted shop to see iI can get some readings and photos. I’m curious but, was never concerned. Will follow up in a few days.
Hi, can you take a picture of the under hood sticker?
Thanks
Bid in the amount of $5,000
Hi
question-all original paint? Do you have a paint meter that you could put on it?
How long have you owned the car?
Thanks
Hello and thanks for looking at my RS, happy to answer any questions from bidders or enthusiasts.
