Produced from 1992-2006 on the M998 High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV) or Humvee platform, the Hummer H1 was built alongside its military counterpart at AM General’s Mishawaka, Indiana plant, featuring robust off-road capabilities, and ultimately becoming a cultural icon. This 1992 open-top example is #273 of 316 first-generation Limited-Edition models made available to civilians for the model year. Finished in Matte Sand over a black vinyl interior, this Hummer features a black soft top, 16.5″ eight-spoke alloy wheels, and more. It is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Missouri showing approximately 32k miles on the odometer.
Finished in Matte Sand, with a black soft top, this open-top Hummer is equipped with a black fold-down brush guard, a clamshell hood, a front winch, black rocker panels, a fold-down tailgate, a receiver hitch, a split windshield, steel bumpers with tow hooks, and rides on 16.5” 8-spoke alloy wheels wrapped in Pit Bull Rocker tires. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The cabin is presented with four bucket seats upholstered in black vinyl. Equipment includes a 3-spoke steering wheel, an auxiliary rear center seat, an on-board air compressor, manual-crank windows, air conditioning, and a Clarion CD stereo. Fitted to the center console, a badge identifies this Hummer as #273 of the 316 examples built for the 1992 model year and displays the name of the original owner. An aftermarket steering wheel cover is fitted, and all gauges, electronics, and accessories are reported to function as intended, with no warning lights present.
Powered by a replacement 6.5L Detroit Diesel V8 engine, the Hummer sends up to 195 HP and 430 lb.-ft of torque to all four wheels through a 3-speed automatic transmission and a dual-range transfer case. Standard features include a high-mounted air intake and radiator, which facilitate its 16” ground clearance, 30” water fording ability, and the capability to climb a 22” vertical step. Additional equipment includes an independent suspension with portal axles and inboard disc brakes at each corner. The seller states that a new water pump was fitted in July of 2024, with a service taking place in May of 2024 that included fluids.
This sale will include the owner’s manual and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “These vehicles were sold new by AM General as there were no Hummer dealers yet. The vehicles have plaques on the dash that show the name of the original owner who ordered and purchased the car. Since that time, it has had several owners the last of which purchased the car in 2016 and kept it here in St Louis. We purchased the car from him.”

Thanks for checking in on my listing. There are no rollup windows. Not sure how that got in there. They are plastic windows that zip in and out and fold back. Unfortunately I do not have any details on the engine I’ve tried to research it back but it simply looks like the engine was dated from 1997 so sometimes around then a new 6.5 L diesel was installed this is a much improved motor in my opinion, and is an up grade
Nice Hummer! Can you explain the manual roll up windows in the description? Seem inaccurate.
Also any details on the replacement engine?
