Assembled at Honda’s Takanezawa R&D Plant in Tochigi, Japan, the first-generation NSX (NA1) was the first production car to feature an all-aluminum semi-monocoque chassis which was tuned in collaboration with Brazilian Formula One World Champion Ayrton Senna. It uses a naturally aspirated 3.0-liter V6 engine with Honda's proprietary VTEC variable valve timing system and rivaled the performance of some of the world's most expensive European sports cars of the time. This 1992 example is one of 1,131 Acura NSX Coupes to have been equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission for the model year and comes finished in Formula Red over a Black leather interior. It was purchased by the seller, its second owner, in 1995 and is now being offered for auction out of New Jersey with approximately 49k miles showing on the odometer.
Taking inspiration from the F-16 fighter jet, the NSX was designed by Shigeru Uehara using a cab-forward layout to optimize driver visibility and a long tail section to improve high-speed directional stability. The lightweight aluminum bodywork was treated with an aircraft-grade chromate coating before a 23-step paint process was carried out for a vivid and smooth appearance. This NSX is one of 466 examples to have come finished in Formula Red for the model year and features a black roof section, pop-up headlights, front fog lights, side air intakes, dual exhaust outlets, an integrated rear wing, and factory 15"/16" 5-spoke forged aluminum wheels. The seller notes that the exterior remains in very good overall condition, detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The cabin is trimmed in Black leather upholstery and features 4-way power-adjustable sport seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, automatic climate control, cruise control, an Acura-Bose 4-speaker sound system, power side mirrors, courtesy lights, a theft-deterrent system, and stainless-steel door sill plates stamped with the car’s serial number. The seller notes an aftermarket keyless entry system has been installed and all gauges and accessories remain fully functional.
This NSX is equipped with a transverse-mounted 3.0-liter V6 featuring VTEC variable valve timing and titanium connecting rods. Up to 270 HP and 210 lb.-ft of torque is sent to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transaxle and a limited-slip differential. The aluminum semi-monocoque chassis incorporates an extruded aluminum alloy frame and forged aluminum double wishbone suspension. Other features include front and rear stabilizer bars, a 4-channel anti-lock brake system, a traction control system, and variable-ratio electric power steering. The seller indicates that routine service has been observed throughout their ownership and a new timing belt was installed at 43,798 miles.
This sale will include owner’s manuals, service records, a hardcover book, a custom car cover and front bra, two keys, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “I have enjoyed this spectacular and beautiful vehicle for 28 years, but lifestyle changes require me to move on and pass this gem on to the next generation.”

@tdlondon i have service records including timing belt replacement at 43,000 miles but not with me in my offcice where i am now
@JZNSX you'd need to look at the transmission serial number. It's a problem that affects 1991/1992 model years
yikes!!!!
@tdlondon sorry I can not answer that question. don't know what snap ring is but have not had transmission problems
@eurocol I'd assume if not in the pictures, not much is documented as far as records. I'd say this car will need at least tires and the timing belt/water pump/VTEC adjustment service, as Acura recommends 30k miles or 7 years interval, so a $5k budget for the buyer.

Can seller document maintenance records beyond 2009 timing belt service? Is the car within the snap ring range? Start up and driving video?
Thanks!

These are fantastic cars that have aged well. Definitely a collectible keeper. I owned two from new . 91 all black automatic and 95 red targa manual. Downside of automatic was only 4 speed. For me I found the clutch in the 95 to be not as crispy as I prefer . Not a criticism just my experience with one NSX. The only other issue was rear tire wear on early models. In total a great and reliable sports car that always gets the stares. and can be a daily and long distance ride. Wish I kept one of mine . Good luck to seller and buyer!
