Widely regarded as one of the greatest air-cooled cars of all time, the 964 Carrera RS stays true to its roots with a lightweight design, minimalist creature comforts, and a fine-tuned chassis. One of just over 2000 examples built in total, this 1991 example is finished in Guards Red over a black and grey leather interior and was said to have been imported from Germany to the United States in 2021. It has received the addition of KW coilovers, a DP Motorsport front strut bar, and Schroth 5-point seat belt harness. Accompanied by extensive service records from its time spent in Germany, this 1992 Carrera RS is now being offered at auction by the seller based out of New Jersey, showing just over 91,440 km (56,820) miles on the odometer.
This RS is finished in Guards Red (84A) and features European-spec side marker lights and bumpers. The RS shares the bodyshell of the standard Carrera 2 with weight-saving revisions including a sunroof delete, fog light delete, an aluminum front bonnet, thinner glass windows, and special seam-welded panels. The seller notes some slight rock chips on the hood, and the rear heckblende shows signs of cracking. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report and paint meter readings. The factory lightweight magnesium Cup Design wheels come dressed in a set of Continental SportContact 2 tires showing date codes from 2010.
The purist design of the RS is carried throughout the cabin with special lightweight carpeting, basic door panels with red pull straps, and Recaro sport bucket seats with grey leather centers. The air conditioning, power windows, power mirrors, central locking system, and rear seats are also omitted from the cabin for the purpose of weight savings. Amenities include a heater, a locking glovebox, a rear window defroster, and a Porsche-branded AM/FM/cassette radio. A set of Schroth 5-point racing harnesses have been installed, but the OEM seatbelts have been preserved.
The 964 Carrera RS is equipped with a revised version of the standard 3.6L flat-six engine internally designated as M64/03. Up to 260 HP and 275 lb-ft of torque are sent to the rear wheels through a G50/10 5-speed manual transmission with steel synchronizer rings as well as altered shift sleeves with taller 1st & 2nd gears. Performance features include a rear limited-slip differential, a single-mass sport flywheel, and adjustable roll bars. A set of KW coilovers have been fitted as well as a DP Motorsport front strut bar. The seller reports the vehicle is accompanied by extensive service records from its time in Germany.
This sale will include a clean title, a complete toolkit with a Porsche tire pressure gauge, and a stack of service records.

Tracked or not who cares? You buy this thing to track whether Driver's ED, HPDE, competition or just pure street enjoyment!. This is the car to have for RVDE! The seller is not far from me so I might have to see her in person and bring cash so hurry up guys before see's gone!
Gallery #119... The rear anchor points for the six point harnesses seems to be problematic if not dangerous. My understanding is that the harnesses should be routed and supported above and behind the shoulders as it would be if the roll bar was in place. Otherwise a very interesting car. GLWA

Does the roll bar come with the car?
@Foxtrot We were told the previous owner in Europe did not track the car and there are no indications of it. The windshield does not have chips, calipers are glossy, rotors have no warping, and the front nose does not have a lot of rock chips - all indications of being tracked. The roll bar and harness may have been installed for aesthetic reasons or may have seen a light track day at one point. The roll bar was bolted on and was removed.
@Shopcat Hi, this vehicle is currently registered.
@Shopcat Hi - Yes, the roll bar was removed.
@Maurz I certainly hope so...!
Roll cage, harness, rock chips on the hood. Folks really wondering if a car built for racing has been taken racing.

@Wsf80 Looks like it was removed for the photos, probably for better presentation. Seller could clear it up by chiming in, it might even come with the car...
@Shopcat thanks for some reason I couldn’t see it in the photos
@Wsf80 watch the video
Does the vehicle have a current valid registration?
@shopcat yes I mean besides the harness. Sometimes owners add the seatbelt for effect versus use, but I’d love to hear if the car was tracked. I’m also interested in if a roll cage was ever installed.
@Wsf80 you mean besides the harness?
Any evidence of track use? Any evidence of roll bar installation either inside cabin or underneath car?
