Marking the final iteration of the Porsche 944, the S2 model was launched in 1989 featuring a larger 4-cylinder engine with four valves per cylinder and revised styling derived from the Turbo model.  This 5-speed 1991 944 S2 Cabriolet comes finished in Azurite Blue over blue upholstery and features leather front seats, cruise control, and air conditioning. Benefitting from the replacement of the clutch assembly, slave cylinder, and rear shocks in May 2024, this example is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New York with less than 57k miles showing on the odometer.

Factory-finished in Azurite Blue (LY5D) with a black soft top, this 944 Cabriolet is distinguishable as an S2 model by its “16 Ventiler” badges on the front fenders, Turbo-derived aerodynamic nose, and body-colored rear diffuser. It rides on factory 16” Design 90 wheels with Kumho tires. The seller notes that a paint correction and ceramic coating were completed in May 2024. Minor paint imperfections include a small scratch near the gas cap, a blemish on the right side of the hood, and a windshield chip on the passenger side. While the convertible top motors work, the power top is currently inoperable. Detailed images and a clean CARFAX report are provided in the gallery.

The blue partial leather interior includes leather-upholstered power front seats, cruise control, air conditioning, and power windows and mirrors. An aftermarket single-DIN touchscreen with Bluetooth and a backup camera has been installed. The seller notes that the steering wheel stitching is missing some thread, and while the driver’s side power seat lift function is inoperative, manual adjustment remains possible.

This 944 S2 is equipped with a naturally aspirated 3.0-liter inline 4-cylinder 16-valve engine generating as much as 208 HP and 207 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transaxle. An oil change is said to have been performed, along with the replacement of the clutch assembly, slave cylinder, and rear shocks in May 2024.

This sale will include a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “This car came from TN, so it is a Southern car and has been garaged since I have owned it—heated garage with trickle charger over the winter. I have added about 1500 miles each of the past two years. A/C is good, and handling is good. Especially great on the highway.  One hand to close the top and lock, so I haven't bothered to get the power top fixed yet. In the last model year of the S2 cab sent to the States, only 562 were sent in 1991. A unique head-turner and I get lots of questions about it.”

    @paullittell new underbody photos added

  • mjteresi1 (seller) 2 months, 2 weeksago

    @paullittel I can get pics of underbody near rocker panels and try to have them uploaded. I have not done and don't have previous receipts for belts and rollers. Lastly, the grey/tan vent louvres are as the car came, not sure why....

  • PaulLittell (registered bidder) 2 months, 2 weeksago

    why the grey/tan dash vent louvres?

  • PaulLittell (registered bidder) 2 months, 2 weeksago

    can you please add a driving vid, pics of the underbody, particularly near rocker panels, and receipt for the most recent belts and rollers job?
    thanks

  • mjteresi1 (seller) 2 months, 2 weeksago

    It's the driver seat power switch. The manual levers still allow you to move the seat forward and back as well as the back of the seat adjustment.

    @mjteresi1 @mjteresi1,
    Is it the driver’s seat or the passenger’s seat that has the problem?
    In the BaT auction it was reported as the passenger seat.

    I hope you all find this car as interesting and unique as I have. You don't see any on the road and I get lots of questions, even from Porsche enthusiasts. Great daily driver and really fun on the highway. Feel free to send questions....
