Produced from 1989 to 1991, the Porsche 928 GT was offered as a high-performance version of Porsche’s 928 grand touring car featuring a 326 HP 5.0-liter V8 engine mated to a 5-speed manual transaxle. This 1991 example was originally produced for the German home market and comes finished in Amazon Green Metallic over a light grey Leather to Sample interior. It is one of only 470 GTs built for markets outside of North America (RoW) for the model year and was reportedly used by the Porsche factory as an executive car before being sold to a private owner in Germany who was a friend of the Piech family. It was imported to the U.S. in 1998 by the same owner and was eventually acquired by the seller in 2016. Under the current ownership, this 928 underwent a motor rebuild including the installation of a custom 1.8L Eaton supercharger kit. It also received a rebuilt suspension, upgraded GTS brakes, an upgraded cooling system, and new Sport Seats with custom laser-etched Pascha inserts. This remarkable 928 GT is now being offered for auction out of Oklahoma with approximately 288k kilometers on the odometer.
The 928 GT came factory-finished in the rarely seen color Amazon Green Metallic (N7) and features a matching rear spoiler, an optional electric sunroof, a rear window wiper, clear Euro-spec turn signals, polished dual tailpipes, and upgraded red brake calipers sourced from a 928 GTS. It rides on custom 17” Phone Dial wheels by Augment Wheel Co. measuring 8.5” ET66 in front and 10.5” ET51 in the rear. The seller notes new Nitto NT555 G2 tires were mounted in 2023. The car is said to have been completely refinished under prior ownership in 2008, and the front bumper, hood, and fenders were refinished again in 2019 by the current owner to address road-going wear. Clear paint protection film has been applied to the hood, front bumper, and mirror covers. Some paint cracks are noted on the lower left front bumper as well as a small crack on the lower passenger side windshield. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The cabin features light grey Leather to Sample upholstery and has been modified with a matching wood-trimmed 996 Turbo steering wheel and new custom Sport Seats with Porsche-crested headrests and laser-etched Pascha inserts along with a matching center console armrest. Accessories include power windows, mirrors, and door locks, 12-way power-adjustable front seats with memory settings, exclusive Rootwod wood trim on the doors and center console, an exclusive leather shift pattern insert, automatic climate control, custom Coco floor mats, and a Valentine 1 radar detector unit which is incorporated in the sunroof motor cover. The seller reports all gauges and accessories to be fully functional and notes the original seats and interior pieces are included in the sale.
The naturally aspirated 5.0-liter 32-valve V8 engine in the 928 GT was specially tuned from the factory to produce up to 326 HP and 317 lb.-ft of torque using a modified control unit and a more aggressive camshaft layout with altered timing profiles. The engine in this 928 has been rebuilt with new seals, belts, hoses, mounts, and a new water pump as well as a custom 1.8L Eaton supercharger and intercooler, custom fuel rails, a Sharktune, an upgraded fuel system, an upgraded cooling system, and an X-pipe exhaust system with a custom muffler. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transaxle featuring a custom Tilton twin-disc high-performance clutch, a custom Hans shifter, and upgraded torque tube bearings. Upgraded 928 GTS brakes have been installed and paired with braided stainless steel lines. The steering rack has been rebuilt and the suspension has been overhauled with new ball joints, tie rods, bushings, and Porsche sport shock absorbers. A comprehensive list of all services and upgrades performed by the current owner is provided in the gallery along with a numbers matching Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.
This sale will include owner’s manuals, a toolkit, a spare tire, an air pump, extensive documentation, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “Hello all. This is a bittersweet auction for me as a massive amount of time and money has been invested into this car as I executed my vision for an ultimate GT. It has been a fun build over the last 7 years. This is a very unique and outstanding performing car that you will love! It comes with most of the original take-off parts if anyone wants to take it back to its original spec. I'm letting this one go as I still have several other special 928s that I'm focusing my attention on. Thanks and best of luck!”

@Crumbs Picture 63 has the readout for the Valentine radar detector. Picture 64 is an older pic that accidently got added before the radar detector was installed. I have the original vent to reinstall if you don't care for it.
in picture 63 what is the vent display? Also not in picture 64.
Don't recall if I mentioned but the seats, steering wheel and center armrest are the pieces I changed in the car. The rest of the interior is original.

So here we are on the final day! I know I will regret selling this car, but I have too many and I have had a great run with it, and it is time for someone else to enjoy it.
I have been into 928’s starting with my first one in 1988, a ’79 euro. My love affair with this model has led me to own over a dozen of them over the years. I currently have three left and after today maybe two? I have owned from the very earliest 928 to the GTS model. In my opinion the ultimate 928 for me to own was the final year GT, 1991. I wanted one with some exclusivity and uniqueness in color along with being a euro as I prefer those over the US cars. I had been looking for many years when this car came to me by chance. It really is the ultimate 928 GT. If she sells today I have a feeling it will be for way less than I have invested. No issues there as I never took cost into account when wanting to execute my vision. I just wanted to get it to where it is today. I wish everyone the best of luck today and please know that you will be getting a very rare and unique example of the 928. A final year GT with unique color and Porsche exclusive options are not too easy to find!
I think I have addressed everyone’s questions but if I missed anything please reach out again and I will promptly address. I’m here until the end of the auction. THANKS!!
@Crumbs Thanks for the additional info. When you compare the Hans shifter and OEM it will make more sense to what I'm saying. Hans shifter is well built and very directly connect to the torque tube and trans. The OEM shifter incorporates ball cup bushings, shift handle bushings and springs that all dampen any vibrations. For me it really is a non issue but I want to make sure I'm being as transparent as possible with everyone. It truly is an extraordinary car in presence and performance!
Bid in the amount of $46,000
@Abuong01 No issue at all going down to a 275 or 285. I spent a lot of time with playing around with tire sizes and offsets along with calculations so that you can run the tire you want and not have rubbing issues. They built the wheels to my specifications. The wheel is centered with its width to be equidistant from the outer fender well to the inner fender well/control arm where it could rub. The overall collective told me that a 315 would never work so I took that as a challenge! A 305 is optimum but tire manufactures no longer make that size in 17". The 315 is the max size that will fit on 10.5" width wheel. No issues going narrower from there.
Bid in the amount of $43,928
@928Pcar and others. re shift vibration something to consider.
Noted while looking at custom shift knobs they said some Porsche front-engine stock knobs have an elastic weighted center to reduce vibration. Not sure if that applies here, whether issue with 928 at all, or if the shift knob you put in does not have the elastic if it is a potential issue for 928s with non-stock shift knobs.
See source link (this is not an endorsement and I have no affiliation or prior experience with them): https://customwoodshiftknobs.com/Knobs2.html
@928Pcar I ran 285 on the back of my 91 GT for a short while, they rubbed the inner fender, from what I read it seems the offset you ordered from Augment is designed to handle 285. Is that correct. They look amazing, just curious if going down to 275 might be a possible choice.
PS - An endorsement from Ed is a bonus!!
@Crumbs Forgot to address the rear tire question. Spirited driving! Alignment is spot on. Seems that when you hit the go fast pedal these tires just don't want to stay around long. That's not lighting them up either. Perhaps a different brand will give a bit more life.
@Crumbs Just addressed the AC in the last post. No issues whatsoever with the AC.
Yes, maybe the windshield. I never changed it because it really isn't that bad and since it is a regular driver, I figured it will just continue to pick up more road wear.
The only thing I mentioned earlier was possibly the shifter back to the OEM. I mentioned that with this SC setup there is a engine harmonic that comes and goes in the peak torque range from 3200-3400 rpm. When shifting through the gears its sometimes there and sometimes not. The OEM shifter did a good job of filtering that out. I did have some folks reach out to me and mention that it might be time to replace the harmonic balancer again since it has a SC. I installed the ATI Super Damper 4 years and 32,000KM ago. So maybe that. It's a couple hour job but really straight forward. ATI will rebuild the original for $75 or a new one runs $279. Besides that, no, nothing else on my list if I keep it. Which is good because I always keep a running to-do list on my cars!
@jmorin Good question. No issues at all keeping it cool on hot days with the AC running. The big help with that was when I changed to the CSF radiator and routed the oil cooling hoses to run through the radiator cooler then the air-to-oil cooler that sets just below the radiator. The GT's and all GTS's have only the air-to-oil cooler under the radiator. When driving normal on hot days it will run right at or just below the last white line. When sitting in traffic it will creep just over that line but barely.
AC works amazing. When I got the car it was setup with R134a. I never thought that conversion ever worked that great with the cars designed for R12. I evacuated and flushed the system and replaced the dryer and all the o-rings. I then recharged with R12. Night and day difference with doing that and it has been working great ever since then. The last trip to Columbus and back from Oklahoma in July we kept it at the '2' fan setting or it would get too cold in the car.
@linderpat Thanks, Ed! I really appreciate it. I have a feeling this one I will regret selling one day. Probably the minute after it sells! LOL!
@928Pcar also curious about A/C.
Any known issues or things you would consider doing if you kept the car? (windshield)
Rear tire low mileage because spirited driving, bad alignment or other?
Bid in the amount of $43,200
@928Pcar Hi Brian. With all the extra hp, any issues with overheating with the AC on in peak summer? My supercharged 89GT put down 521hp at the rear wheels but keeping her cool in TX heat was always a challenge.
Good luck today Brian. If anyone is sitting on the fence with this car - don't. Examples like this are very far and few between, and rarely come up.

Bucees sells 93 octane ethanol free here in Texas also. I also like to use crc gdi thru the Intakes to clean some other stuff and I clean the maf on every oil change also using CRC maf cleaner.
@luis.seneriz I run 91 octane from a place down the road that sells "100%" gas. At least that's what I hope it is without any ethanol. Unfortunately here in OK that is the highest octane readily available. My car always enjoys a visit to TX for something better to drink!
Great idea on the 104 for piston cleanup.
@928Pcar. Thanks a lot. The details were amazing, I’m a retired lubrication engineer so I love details. I’m ocd about the mechanical condition of my cars. I do drive them instead of collecting them. What fuel you run on it? I only run 93 octane shell v power and every so often I dump a couple of gallons of 104 race fuel to give the piston tops a good clean up.
@luis.seneriz I have not run the car on a dyno but with what I'm running and feedback from a few others that have a similar setup, I would guess somewhere between 450 and 475HP.
I would say it needs nothing in its current state. The things that I have not touched are the rear suspension trailing arm bushings, CV's or transmission. They are all in great working order so I have left them alone.
One thing I will bring up since a couple of people asked about it previously is the Hans shifter I put on it. The shifter is a beautifully engineered shifter that replaces the stock shifting arm and front linkage arm. It was designed by Hans Servas and he can be found on FB and Rennlist if you want to learn more about him or the custom things he has done for 928's. He is also developing a newer generation SC setup for these cars that are going to be extraordinary but unfortunately will have a limited run. He helped me with a number of custom pieces for this SC build.
Anyway, the Hans shifter gives a lot more direct feel to the shifting with no slop like the OEM setup. The downside is that you will pickup more engine/drivetrain vibration through the shifter that the OEM unit seems to 'filter' out with its springs and bushings. With my SC setup and depending on engine load and temp, there is sometimes a harmonic vibration at peak torque (3400-3800 rpm) that you can feel through the shifter that was barely noticeable with the OEM setup. I don't pay no mind to it because that is the only time you will see it and I know the engine and driveline are all good. Cruising down the highway is super smooth. So, if that bothers you then reinstalling the factory shifter would be in order. It is included with all the takeoff parts. Other than that the windshield is the original so it has some road rash as to be expected along with the minor crack. You could install a new windshield if that is a concern. The small semicircle crack was there when I bought the car 7 years ago and it isn't bothersome because of its location. I guess I could nitpick because I'm so anal when it comes to these cars but really I wouldn't do anything else but enjoy it!
Just uploaded a few more misc. photos along with photos of all the spare takeoff parts. I think that is about everything that I have removed but I will continue to check. If there are any questions on things you see or don't see, please ask.
If you plan on flying in and driving the car home then we will need to look at maybe shipping all of the parts on a pallet to your location. There is no way they will all fit in the car plus they are a bit heavy.

@928Pcar. Since you are extremely knowledgeable on these cars. Anything that should be done on the car. I own two 996s and I know them inside out. I just taught the 928s were super cool, risky business was an excellent movie back in the day. My turbo which I bought here last year is up to 650 horsepower and I’m not done with it yet. Any ideas on what power numbers this car has. Thanks.
It looks like I may have been off on the global ROW GT count for 1991. I'm told from a 928 expert in these things that the total production was 515 and not 470 as listed in the ad. Not too far off though. Out of the 515 GT's a total of 39 were Amazon Green.

@GrandNatty No rubbing at all. When I was still running the 18's I had 255's on the front without rubbing issues. The only reason it has 245's instead of 255's now is because the 255's were on backorder.
I did a lot of research to make sure the offsets would work well and accommodate the tire sizes I wanted without sacrificing the designed handling. The front wheels are 17 x 8.5 ET66 and the rears are 17x10.5 ET51. The 315's are a tight fit but don't rub unless you do some heavy cornering. Even then it is only minor on the inside wheel well. You could easily go down to a 285 or 295 on the rear and it would still look and handle great. Same goes for the fronts but I really do prefer the 245's.
@luis.seneriz That would be great and this car is ready to drive anywhere across this country. So no problem at all!
@Rob-Edwards Thanks, Rob!! Your input is always appreciated! Thanks for the compliments!
@JBRob007 Thanks, Joel! That is kind of you to say especially with ALL the other beautiful 928's that were there. We had a great time!
Seller I love your car, this is a super cool build. I’m extremely familiar with Edmond, I used to live in Ponca City. Anyway I like to fly and drive, any concerns driving this car from there to Houston?. Thanks
Bid in the amount of $35,928
@928Pcar - no front tire rubbing w/ that much meat/size?
Fact #1: The 1991 GT is arguably the best of the breed- Indistinguishable from a GTS on the inside with the updated dash, shifter, and more plush carpeting and sound deadening, but with the GT motor that avoided the crankcase ventilation issues of the GTS.
#2: This GT has one of the most unique constellation of factory options, now augmented with the seller's unobtanium upholstery skills. I'm biased (just a little) but I don't think there's a better upholsterer working on Porsche seats right now.
#3: Pictures 193-196 should reassure anyone wondering about the mileage on the car- In the last 60,000 km it has a complete engine refresh, Greg Brown clutch (I have one in my GTS stroker, it's the only clutch that'll hold 400 rwhp but still shift like stock), engine and trans mounts, torque tube bearings, fuel lines, alternator, re-done brakes/suspension arms, shocks, etc. etc. There isn't a wear item in the drivetrain that hasn't been addressed. Buyers should have the warm and fuzzies about the comprehensive refresh done to this car.
Potential buyers, if you want to experience the best of what a late model 928 can offer, this is it. As they say, they don't come around real often.
@Crumbs The motor was gone through and supercharger upgrade all were done this summer. I have put approximately 3600 kilometers on it since that time.
Front tires are 245/45/17 and rears are 315/35/17.
Rear tires have 3600 kilometers on them and fronts have about 100 km on them.
Thanks for the compliment!
When was the engine rebuild and other work done? I know your docs probably say but reading the photos is hard.
You mentioned tire size options: what size are the tire sizes? the photo is hard to read the sidewall.
Great job with the build by the way.

@GrandNatty Well I did misspeak a bit as I was answering while trying to do something else. The '89 GT's had forged CLUB SPORTS and not D90's. Just the '90 and '91 GT's had the D90's and they were cast.
Yes, any 17" wheel with the correct 928 offset will clear the GTS brakes. Cups work great and many people run them and they look awesome! The 18" Carrera III's that were previously on it looked really good also. All personal preference. I know someone with a GT and GTS brakes that is having 17" D90's built for his car by the same company that did mine. If I was wanting to go for that original look then that is definitely the way I would go before switching the brakes back. Better selection of tires also.
FYI - when the GTS's came out only the front brakes increased. The rear brakes stayed the same size as the previous GT/S4.
@928pcar "The D90’s were forged for the GT’s in 1989 only. The 1990 and 1991 GT’s D90’s were cast. Those can still be found but you would need to replace the front GTS calipers with the GT/S4 ones for the wheels to fit." - so 17" needed to house the new GTS brakes? Either OEM GTS cups or the ones you had made? And ah re cast/forged, I have an 88 944 Turbo S, same thing, forged 88 and 89, cast after that.
This GT was most recently sited at the 2023 Rendezvous 928 Sharks Discovers Columbus with another Sixty 928s in attendance from all over the country & Canada. This car is by far my favorite of the bunch... and, yes, that IS saying something. Pictures do not do this build justice. It is well maintained, absolutely gorgeous inside and out, and has upgrades that don't LOOK like upgrades. Even the Super Charger looks like it could have been "factory" but was built using modern technology. GLWS !
@GrandNatty I do have a majority of the takeoff parts but the original D90’s were gone before I got the car. It was fitted with 18” Carrera III at the time. The D90’s were forged for the GT’s in 1989 only. The 1990 and 1991 GT’s D90’s were cast. Those can still be found but you would need to replace the front GTS calipers with the GT/S4 ones for the wheels to fit.
I do have the original steering wheel and airbag that are in excellent condition. I will get pics posted tomorrow with the majority of extra parts (Interior pieces, Intake and engine pieces, cats and muffler, etc.).
@928Pcar - in the description you note having the take-off parts. Include steering wheel (condition?) and 16" forged GT wheels (condition?) and will they fit over the new brakes?
This is the nicest usable 928 i've ever seen GLWS!
Bid in the amount of $35,000
I echo the compliments made by others regarding the leather etching and the build as a whole. Simply stunning!
@buccicone No rebuild of the trans and it is a stock GT transmission. Shifts nice with no synchro issues.
Has there been any rebuild of the transmission and is it stock? Can't remember if it was stated anywhere.
Bid in the amount of $31,000
@928Pcar Excellent, glad to see someone pick up where Paul left off.
@Abuong01 Hello and yes I am! Thanks for the compliments!!
@928Pcar. Are you the gentleman that bought Paul C business. If so, believe I met you at rendezvous recently. Nice car and amazing work with the leather etched pascha interiors!
Bid in the amount of $30,000
Had the good fortune to see this modified beauty in Columbus a few months ago. Describing the interior as both elegant and unique would be an understatement.
@MILESAHEADPORSCHE Thanks for the compliments! The inserts are laser etched leather. My wife and I specialize in 928 interiors and we did these. I do the laser etching myself and can really do about any kind of design. The hides are from Hans Reinke and we have them shipped in from Hamburg, Germany. They are a really nice leather.

What an incredible modified Porsche 928!
The interior is just exquisite!
Can you tell me is the pasha inserts leather or vinyl?

@ClockWerks You can change it on US cars but you can’t on ROW and Canadian cars.
I can't remember from my previous 89 if you can change the digital speed readout between mph and kph. Is that possible?
Bid in the amount of $25,500
Thanks for all the comments and bids so far! I will be here all week to answer any questions about this car. I will have additional underside photos that I will be able to post this next week. The car does have both of it's under trays. The primary front one is an upgraded aluminum tray in place of the original plastic one.
The motor has around 3600 KM (2200 miles) on it since the build. I put close to 2000 miles of that on in July when we traveled to the 928 Rendezvous in Columbus Ohio. It ran flawlessly and used about half a quart of oil over the entirety of the trip.
@john928 Thanks! Unfortunately no dyno runs.
@Abuong01 Thanks for the comments!
Added power is somewhere between 100 - 150 HP but I have not had it on a dyno. From other performance builds it seems the transmissions on these start to have issues as you approach 800HP. This car is well shy of that. The driveshaft can easily handle the power and I have installed the Constantine Black Sea super bearings.
The stock clutch is a weak point and I have installed a custom Tilton dual disc clutch and short shaft that was developed by Precision Motorwerks in Anaheim. It's good to up to 1000 HP I believe. It is not heavy at all and handles the power flawlessly. It feels as if I have a stock setup in there.
@zollerm I have not had a dyno done on this car. Others that have run a similar setup with the same Eaton have reported 150HP gain. I would say +100HP over stock. Runs great!
All seat functions work except for the heat. The old heaters were not functioning and I did not replace them. I added the factory lumbar as my back greatly appreciates it!
@petza914 Thanks, Pete! I appreciate the comment.
Very cool car. Nice to see someone driving it properly!
Nice build. A dyno printout will help the sale. Good luck!
Bid in the amount of $25,000
Love the laser etched pascha design, have seen it a few times at some of our 928 club events recently. Amazing throwback tribute with current durability and look.
Seller - any idea how much power this car has and has the drive train needed to be upgraded to handle the additional power.
Bid in the amount of $15,928

Honestly though, she looks wonderful!
Horsepower? Do all the seat functions work? Thanks.
