Powered by a robust 6.2-liter LS3 V8 paired with a GM 6L80E 6-speed automatic transmission and Puma rear axle, this 1991 Land Rover Defender 90 was refurbished and modified by Twisted Automotive of Yorkshire, England. A left-hand-drive example, it was imported to the U.S. by the current owner in 2017. The restoration included a refinish in black over custom black leather upholstery and features LED exterior lighting, heavy-duty running gear, Recaro front bucket seats, modern interior amenities, power steering, Alcon four-wheel disc brakes, and much more. This Defender 90 is now being offered for auction on behalf of the current owner out of Colorado.
Refinished in black, this example has also been customized with LED lighting, a partial external roll cage, a Puma-style hood, checker-plate rocker trim, tubular side steps, body-color wheel arch extensions, and an NAS-style rear bumper. Additional modifications include black checker-plate rocker trim, KBX fender vents, mudflaps, a NAS-style rear bumper, and a replacement rear door with a heated window and swing-away tire carrier. It rides on upgraded black-finished 18” five-spoke wheels mounted with BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A K02 tires. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with an accident-free CARFAX report.
The cabin has been customized with heated Recaro SC front bucket seats adorned in black Nappa leather and diamond-stitched inserts. Matching upholster spans the inward-facing rear jump seats and door panels, while black leather extends the window surrounds, shift boots, handbrake, and TD5 dashboard. A color-coordinated MOMO steering wheel, Alcantara headliner, and replacement carpets are also appointed. Additionally, sound deadening material, an aftermarket center console, and a touchscreen head unit wired to an 8-channel audio system. Affixed to the center stack is a Twisted Automotive plaque, identifying the truck as #1509.
Under the hood, a 6.2-liter LS3 V8 engine has been installed, replacing the original 200TDi. Power is delivered to all four wheels through a GM 6L80E 6-speed automatic transmission, dual-range transfer case, locking center differential, and a Puma rear axle. Additional modifications include Corvette-branded fuel rail covers, a Champion aluminum radiator, and a stainless steel exhaust system. The truck has also been equipped with power steering and features power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes with Twisted-branded six-piston Alcon calipers at the front and four-piston Alcon calipers at the rear. A Twisted Automotive Progressive Suspension kit has also been installed.
This sale will include a clean title listing the vehicle as a 1992 model. The CARFAX report notes a mileage inconsistency in September 2022.

@surf2day From what I'm seeing on the rig and in the engine bay, it is certainly a possibility to add an AC condenser!

Do you by chance know if there enough space in the engine bay (post LS swap) to place an a/c condenser and belt space to attach to flywheel? I think I've seen a/c in other LS equipped Defenders, but was curious as to why this one didn't have it fitted with Twisted was doing the resto mod. Thank you, KH
@surf2day I can't comment as to the specifics as to why no interior roll bars. Rather than guess and be incorrect, I'm more confident to simply say, I'm not sure. The exterior does have a partial roll cage. The odometer reading is reflecting mileage added since the importation to the US however true mileage is unknown. The importation has all been done correctly and the car is being sold on a clean US (state of CO) title with a passing CO emissions test.
So I’m curious as to why no interior roll bars? Usually there is a matching set-up behind the front sets that enhance the exterior bars. Is the exterior set-up by Safety Devices? Can’t make out the logo embellishment on the bar above the passenger door. Are the 3,612 listed miles put on the D90 since it’s importation to the US? Finally, is the owner in possession of all of the US Import documentation? It would be the 7501 (with release), and the NHTSA/DOT compliance docs. EPA would have been waived due to the 25 model year age exception. Thank you.
@tnt2mc2 No AC but the windows do roll down!
