Among the most collectible Corvettes of the early 1990s, the Chevrolet C4 Corvette ZR-1 earned the nickname “King of the Hill” and stands apart for its all-aluminum 5.7L LT5 V8 developed in collaboration with Lotus. This 1991 example is finished in Bright Red over matching red leather and was acquired by the second owner from the original owner, a close friend. Maintained within a climate-controlled private collection and showing fewer than 13k miles on the odometer, this exceptionally preserved ZR-1 is now being offered for auction on behalf of its owner.

The C4 ZR-1 featured model-specific bodywork, including widened rear quarter panels and a convex rear fascia with squared-off taillights. This example is finished in Bright Red, and details include a removable roof panel, pop-up headlamps, integrated front fog lights, fender vents, quad exhaust outlets, and 17” lightweight cast-aluminum wheels dressed in Goodyear tires from 2007, reportedly in like-new condition. The third brake light has been removed and will be included with the sale. Additional images are provided in the gallery along with a CARFAX report.

Inside, the driver is greeted with red leather upholstery contrasted with black dashboard and center console panels. Equipment includes deeply bolstered sport seats, automatic climate control, power windows and locks, cruise control, and a Delco-Bose Gold Series stereo with a cassette and CD player. All gauges and electronics are confirmed to be in proper working order.

The C4 ZR-1 is powered by an all-aluminum 32-valve quad-camshaft LT5 V8, developed jointly by Chevrolet and Lotus, and manufactured by Mercury Marine of Stillwater, Oklahoma. The LT5 was factory-rated at 375 HP and 370 lb-ft of torque when new, and drives the rear wheels through a ZF 6-speed manual transmission and a mechanical limited-slip differential. The ZR-1 can reach 60 MPH from a standstill in less than 5 seconds and has a claimed top speed of 180 MPH. Lotus was also involved in the design of the braking, steering, and suspension systems. The Bilstein FX3 adaptive suspension uses a gas-over-oil shock absorber that allows the driver to electronically select 6 damping settings in each of the three driving modes: Touring, Sport, and Performance. Stopping power comes from four-wheel disc brakes with Bosch ABS. The seller reports that all services have been performed by an authorized Chevrolet dealer and a specialty Corvette shop. No outstanding maintenance items have been reported.

This sale will include a clean title, owner’s manuals, sales literature, and service records.

The seller would like you to know: “We’ve just received this very low-mileage 1991 ZR1 Corvette (serial #000808) on consignment. Our seller is an avid collector of classics, and he decided it’s time to sell. Our seller purchased 0808 from his close friend who was the original owner. He drove it new off the showroom floor. The original owner owned a successful candle manufacturing company. 0808 was only 2 years old when our seller purchased it from its original owner, his friend. It only had 1,559 miles on the odometer. The seller stored 0808 in his climate-controlled facility, where the rest of his collection is stored. 0808 is now here in our showroom. 0808 has 100% factory-original paint in Bright Red (factory color code 81U). The interior is the original factory red. The removable t-top has rarely been taken off since the car was produced. The interior is superbly maintained along with the ZR1 features. The exterior badging is beautifully intact as well. Enthusiasts will know that ZR1 means 0808 has a factory-original high-performance engine. From the factory, the LT5 DOHC engine has 375 hp (280kW). There’s an Engine Power switch under the radio to give all 375 hp to the driver. A special key is required to turn this on (we have the key). We have maintenance records that show 0808 was professionally serviced. All work was done at the Chevrolet dealership and later at a specialty Corvette shop. 0808 also comes with the original Corvette document holder. Inside is the driver’s manual, dealer limited warranty booklet, and original salesman’s business card.  The factory plastic emergency door key is still intact in its pouch. Our seller replaced the original 3rd brake light with a delete plate. We were provided the original ZR1 3rd brake light, and it will be stored in the cargo area.”
