Introduced in 1988 and produced until 1995, the second-generation BMW M5 was based on the E34 platform and included a 3.5-liter S38 inline-six derived from the legendary M88 engine the M1 supercar. This 1991 example is finished in Sterling Silver Metallic over Black Nappa Leather upholstery and features a 5-speed manual transmission with a limited-slip differential 17” M-System II wheels, power sport seats, automatic climate control, a Racing Dynamics strut tower brace, Bilstein dampers, and aftermarket lowering springs. Benefitting from service since 2022 including a new valve cover gasket and lower front control arm bushings, this classic M5 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California with approximately 185k miles showing on the odometer.
Compared to the standard E34 5-series, the M5 includes a front spoiler, side skirts, and rear valence that help reduce drag. It also introduced the Style 20 “M-System” three-piece wheel design which incorporates black five-spoke forged aluminum rims with magnesium bolt-on wheel covers. This M5 is finished in Sterling Silver Metallic and rides on updated 17 M-System II “throwing star” wheels. Other equipment includes quad headlamps, front fog lights, an M5 grille badge, black body moldings, a sunroof, and a dual-tipped exhaust outlet. The CARFAX report shows very minor damage to the front end of the car in March 2023.
Appointed with Black Nappa Leather upholstery, the interior features heated and power-adjustable front sport seats, a four-spoke leather steering wheel, and automatic climate control. Other accessories include an onboard computer, power windows and mirrors, central locking doors, BMW-branded floor mats, M5-branded door sills, and an aftermarket Kenwood stereo. Some signs of age and wear can be seen including separation on the door panels.
Featuring individual throttle bodies and dual overhead camshafts, the 3.5-liter S38B36 inline-six engine delivers up to 310 HP and 266 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 5-speed Getrag 280/5 manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The suspension has been modified with Bilstein dampers, aftermarket lowering springs, and a Racing Dynamics front strut brace. Service performed since 2022 is said to have included replacing the valve cover gasket, oil pan gasket, spark plug tube seals, front lower control arm bushings, air filter, fuel filter, and transmission fluid.
This sale will include a clean title.

Hi everyone! G here with Heritage Gruppe, we're happy to present this M5 on behalf of the owner and are looking forward to seeing it go to its new home!
This M5 is a fantastic drivers car that does great in city traffic as well as the mountain back roads. Electronics and engine work great and the AC blows cold! Although there is currently a leak from the oil pan gasket, all other mechanical aspects check out fine and the car drives very smoothly. This is a fantastic car for someone looking to get a unique daily driver or a car to take to local cars and coffee events.
If you're local to SoCal you're welcome to come see this M5 in person while the auction is live. For inspections we just ask that you are a current bidder at the auction and for test drives we require proof of funds for the full amount of the car.
Otherwise if you have any questions feel free to reach out to me directly or leave a comment below. Happy bidding!
