We are pleased to present this 1991 BMW E31 850i Coupe finished in Black over a Black Leather interior.  As BMW’s flagship performance coupe of the 1990s, the 8-series’ wedge shape, together with frameless and pillarless windows and pop-up headlights, make this a timeless icon. Powered by a 5.0-liter V12, this 850i is reportedly one of only 528 North American-spec examples equipped with a six-speed manual transmission for the model year. With a 2019 suspension refresh carried out including Bilstein shocks, Eibach Pro lowering springs, OEM sway bars and trailing arms, this well maintained 850i shows 54k miles on the odometer and is now being offered by its seller out of Georgia accompanied by a clean Carfax report

The exterior is finished in Black (086) and is stated to be in good condition with minor road going wear (detailed images are provided in the photo gallery).  A scratch is also noted on the passenger rear quarter panel. The front bumper cover and driver's door were reportedly refinished under previous ownership. The door handle gaskets were replaced and the rear quarter window seals are loose but do not leak. A paint correction was performed and ceramic coating was applied earlier in 2020. This 8-series rides on factory 16” wheels that are wrapped in 245/50 tires.

Inside, you will find a Black leather interior that is stated to be in great condition. This well-appointed coupe showcases power seats, automatic climate control, power windows, and cruise control. All gauges and electrical components are reported to be fully functional. Upgrades added recently include a BMW single-CD unit with Bluetooth adapter, a custom leather center armrest and a new black headliner. Additionally, the leather seats were redyed under prior ownership and the original sun visors were dyed black to match the headliner. The Multi-Information Display was repaired by Bavtek in 2019 and the seller notes that the sunroof slides but no longer tilts.

Power comes from a naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V12 engine that is capable of producing 296 HP in stock form. The rear wheels are driven through a 6-speed manual transmission which allows this coupe to accelerate from 0-60 MPH in approximately 6.3 seconds. A Wokke performance chip and a replacement DME control module are among the modifications. The timing chain tensioner, drive belt, and oil pan gaskets were replaced as part of a top-end overhaul and tune-up performed by Solo Motorsports of Atlanta, Georgia in August 2019. Additional work includes refreshing the suspension with new Bilstein shocks and struts, Eibach Pro lowering springs, replacement upper and lower control arms, front sway bar bushings, trailing arm bushings, tie rods, engine mounts, and ignition components. Stated to be in good running order with a clean Carfax and a recent oil change, this 850i is ready to be enjoyed by its next owner.

Included in the sale of this 850i are a set of two keys, a clean Georgia title, books, records dating back over 20 years, tools, a clean Carfax report, original factory cassette stereo unit, car phone, and window sticker.  If you are in search of a modern classic and an exceptionally well engineered German sports car, this rare V12 850i 6-speed is certainly worth consideration.

    Hi all,
    We are almost at the end here and I want to thank all the bidders so far. Please see a few new pictures added to the end of the gallery. As this modern classic may soon be in your garage, we added a few candid shots of what may be one of its final nights in mine. The pro photos are outstanding (and I am happy to share his contact for anyone in the Atlanta metro area); however, it is always good to get a sense for how the car looks everyday. I admit that I did give her a wash but nothing special beyond that. Black can be something of a safe choice for many cars, but it just works on this one. I think it adds to the elegance of the design, but I am certainly a bit biased! As always, happy to answer questions and good luck to all bidders (and any new ones yet to jump in) as we move into tomorrow.

    @Giant0047 perking UP a bit. Autocorrect....

  • Giant0047 (seller) 4 years, 1 monthago

    Hi all,
    I am happy to see that things are perking you a bit! As you can imagine, it is always a bit of an anxious time as you hope others see the value in a car that you have spent time and money caring for. As always, I am happy to answer any questions or show the car. I can also FaceTime for a personal video tour in this time of physical separation! This is a great car meant to be driven. I have tried to be upfront about any flaws; there aren’t many but all on the outside and easily addressed if you want it pristine for Saturday meet ups.

    I have spent all my investment $ on the mechanicals and interior. I know I won’t get it back, but why buy a bucket list car and have it drive like a bucket? A bit overly dramatic there; it was in decent nick when I bought it but I couldn’t drive it knowing that I wasn’t getting the full experience that it offered when new. This feels like a modern luxury car when driving. I am sure the new owner will appreciate the rarity of rowing your own with a V12! And while the phone is cool, the armrest is more comfortable...

    @smrog,
    Please send me your contact info via the contact seller button and we can set up a time for you to come take a look! Whether you decide to bid or not, it would be helpful if you share your views in the comments. Most can’t come take a look so an independent view would be welcome.

    Welcome to my auction! I am excited to share this amazing car with the pcarmarket community. I am happy to answer any questions you may have. Please also see my YouTube page for more videos including a cold start, driving vids and demos of the switchgear. This is an iconic car; you can’t get more cylinders or pedals anywhere! I have spent well over 10k in mechanical and aesthetic updates. She isn’t a garage queen, but certainly qualifies as a pampered princess. And she isn’t afraid to stretch her legs and run! I hope you all enjoy the auction and look forward to the prospect of helping someone else cross this unique driving experience off of the enthusiast bucket list.
