This Shelby Cobra replica was professionally assembled in 1990 as a tribute to the legendary AC Cobra, known for its race-bred performance and iconic roadster styling. Completed with a fiberglass body over a custom frame, this example is powered by a Ford-sourced 351ci V8 paired with a 3-speed automatic transmission, which was converted from the original manual configuration. It features a front-mounted oil cooler, an aluminum radiator, side-exit exhaust pipes, four-wheel disc brakes, 15” alloy wheels, racing harnesses, and more. This Cobra replica is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Canada.
The fiberglass bodywork is finished in blue with white over-the-top racing stripes. Exterior details include a chrome single roll hood, bumperettes, a hood scoop, fender vents, flared fenders, a Le Mans-style fuel filler cap, a chrome bullet-style driver-side mirror, and side-exit exhaust pipes. It rides on 15” Halibrand-style wheels wrapped in BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The two-seat cockpit is trimmed in black vinyl with low-back bucket seats, blue LEAF Safety Equipment five-point harnesses, and black carpeting over diamond-plate flooring. Accessories include a wood-rimmed GT Grant steering wheel, a “Quick Silver” branded automatic shifter, and aircraft-style toggle switches. The centrally mounted instrument cluster houses a full set of AutoMeter Ultra-Lite gauges, and a Custom Autosound USA4DIN stereo is mounted below. A fire extinguisher is secured behind the seats, and all gauges and electronics are reported to be in proper working order.
Power comes from a Ford-sourced 351ci V8 engine equipped with Ford Racing valve covers, an Edelbrock intake manifold, and a four-barrel carburetor topped by a chrome air cleaner. The rear wheels are driven through a 3-speed automatic transmission, which was converted from the original manual setup. The chassis features independent front suspension and a solid rear axle setup, while stopping power is facilitated by disc brakes at all four corners. The seller notes the car received fresh fluids within the past year, and all components needed to revert to a manual transmission are included with the sale.
