Finished in Black over Cashmere Beige leather upholstery, this 1990 Porsche 964 Carrera 4 Coupe pairs a 5-speed manual transmission with its all-wheel-drive system and 3.6-liter flat-six engine. It also features a sunroof, draped leather front seats, cruise control, a rear window wiper, and 16” Flatdish wheels. Owned by the previous caretaker for approximately 20 years, it was acquired by the current seller in 2024. The car underwent extensive mechanical and cosmetic refurbishments in 2022 and 2023, with over $50k invested. Showing approximately 87k miles on the odometer, this 964 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Connecticut.

The 964 generation introduced notable design elements, including aerodynamic polyurethane bumpers and an automatically extending rear spoiler. This Carrera 4 comes finished in Black (L700) and features a power sunroof, a rear window wiper, and 16” Flatdish forged wheels wrapped in Continental ExtremeContact tires from 2022. The CARFAX report shows rear-end damage in June 1991, and the seller notes that bodywork and paint repairs were made to the rear passenger side and rear bumper in 2023. Additionally, a professional detail was recently performed, and detailed images are provided in the gallery.

Inside, the driver is greeted with Cashmere Beige leather upholstery and optional draped leather front seats. Accessories include cruise control, an upgraded CD player, and an amplifier. Other equipment includes air conditioning, power windows, and power front seats. The seller notes that portions of the interior were re-dyed in April 2023, and some stretching is visible near the seat adjustability controls. All gauges and electronics are confirmed to be in proper working order.

Power is provided by an air-cooled 3.6L flat-six engine producing 247 HP and 228 lb.-ft of torque, paired with a G50 5-speed manual transmission and sent to all four wheels. Notably, the Carrera 4 introduced rear trailing arms, Porsche’s innovative "Weissach" rear axle, and switchable axle locking with a 50:50 front/rear torque split for enhanced traction and stability. The seller reports that the engine was rebuilt in 2022, with work including machining and porting the cylinder heads, a competition valve job, and installation of the following components:

  • Crankshaft and connecting rod bearings
  • Pistons and cylinders
  • Cylinder head studs
  • Timing chains and guide rails
  • Valve guides and dual valve springs
  • Oil and fuel lines, fuel filter
  • Cylinder head temperature sensor
  • Distributor rotors, caps, ignition wires, and spark plugs
  • Drive belts

This sale will include a clean title, owner’s manuals, a toolkit, and a spare tire.

The seller would like you to know: “Thank you for visiting our listing! The owner of this car has owned it for over 20 years and has meticulously maintained it. Almost 50k was spent on the car in 2023 and it goes to show! It drives incredibly well, just as well as it presents! Good luck everyone! Looking forward to meeting the new owner.”

    Hello everyone!

Final 4 hours here! Hoping everyone is having a lovely holiday week.

Best of luck! Cheers and thanks everyone!

@Brmille4 I have just received this answer from the owner:

“It was suggested to me by Automobile Associates that the quarter should be repainted. Don't remember the reason. Not a damage issue.”

The only damage that we have been made aware of is on the carfax back in 91’ which I am assuming is unrelated.

Based on how much money was spent, the current owners goal was to have automotive associates perfect the car, it was in good shape, but had never had serious attention paid to it by craftsmen such as the gents at AA. I wouldn’t have called it a “survivor” car, more, an original car, but certainly one that had not been previously restored.

The car is certainly near perfect now, which is no surprise considering how much money was spent!

For the best answer, it may be wise for you to call automotive associates? They may remember the car and specifically, the reasons for the documented repairs being recommended.

    Thanks and happy holidays!

@seller Picture 386 details the substantial body and paint work, is this a result of the accident in 1991 under original ownership or a separate incident under current ownership?

  • EnthusiasticEnthusiast (seller) 3 months, 1 weekago

    @Brmille4 Howdy,

I just uploaded a photo of the option sticker to the gallery.

    Thanks!

@EnthusiasticEnthusiast Do you have the option codes?

  • EnthusiasticEnthusiast (seller) 3 months, 1 weekago

@DolphCoope To my knowledge they were optioned specially for this car but they also may have been purchased and fitted later on in its life.

They are “manhole covers” typically seen on the 928.

  • EnthusiasticEnthusiast (seller) 3 months, 1 weekago

    @Brmille4 Thanks for participating!

The only accident this car has occurred all the way back in 1991. The rear end work was completed because of corrosion/condition, a lot of these cars were semi-neglected in the past due to values not being what they are now, so the current owner wanted his car to be perfect after coming out of automotive associates, which it now is!

Photos 375 & 377 show the paint meter readings in the re-done areas.

    Thanks!

@Workshop5001 We would be happy to have Bobby perform an inspection. Let us know how you’d like to proceed!

  • DolphCoope 3 months, 1 weekago

Are these wheels original to the car? Not often seen on a 911.

  • Brmille4 (registered bidder) 3 months, 1 weekago

Could you also provide pictures of the undercarriage? Thanjs

  • Workshop5001 (registered bidder) 3 months, 1 weekago

As you are in Lakeville CT, an inspection report from Bobby Singh would likely get the car sold if it checks out…

Beautiful 964!! Regarding the rear end accident that required body work, do you have any details? Which paint meter picture is showing the reading on that rear panel? Many thanks

@AlexBert we are hoping so! BAT got us very close but not quite all the way to our bottom line.

Hopefully we get all the way there with this one!

    Thanks and good luck everyone.
