Now up for auction is this 1990 Porsche 964 Carrera 4 finished in Diamond Blue Metallic over a Silk Grey leather interior.  Having spent time in the Rudy Mancinas (Mr. 993) collection, this 1990 example was purchased by its current owner in 2018 who has since commissioned a minor restoration along with tasteful modifications including custom carpeting, RS-style body components, a performance exhaust, a KW coil-over suspension, and a host of other upgrades and refurbishments.  It has traveled approximately 22k miles under the current ownership while also collecting signatures from Jackie Ickx and Rod Emory, as well as being featured in Drive Tribe, Flat 6 Rebel, and invited to the 000 Magazine rare colors show in 2019.  This one-of-a-kind 964 is now being offered by its seller in Florida while showing approximately 111k miles on the odometer.

This 964 is finished in its special order original color of Diamond Blue Metallic, a shade most notable from its appearance on the Commemorative Edition 911.  A full glass-out respray is said to have been performed in California within the last 10 years and the seller describes the paint to be in excellent condition with a full ceramic coating.  Some minor stone chips are reported on the front end, detailed images are provided in the photo gallery.  Exterior modifications include an RS-style rear center bumper, RS-style front splitters, aero mirrors painted to match the Fuchs RSR finish, Lime Gold Metallic painted calipers, and new Fuchs Felge 17” wheels dressed in Michelin PS2 tires. The original headlights will be reinstalled before the sale.

The interior is factory appointed with full Silk Grey leather, leather trim, and original Sport Seats.  In recent years, custom 1967 Mercedes-style blue loop carpeting has been installed along with a new Rennline drilled pedal set, a MOMO steering wheel, red seatbelts, an upgraded shift knob, and a VDO Continental radio with OEM Porsche 993 premium speakers.  A signature from custom Porsche builder Rod Emory can be found in the driver’s door jamb along with a signature from racing legend Jackie Ickx in the engine compartment. The air conditioning is also said to be ice cold.

This Carrera 4 is said to carry its original 3.6 L flat-six engine which is paired with a number’s matching G50 5-speed manual transmission that drives all four wheels.  Some major mechanical work has been performed recently including a new OEM clutch and fully rebuilt suspension within the last 20k miles, as well as a new fuel and braking system within the last 1k miles.  The seller claims an output of 298 HP and 258 lb.-ft of torque. • Parkhaus1 3 years, 8 monthsago

We have had the privilege to participate in the setup over the last 3 years and I can tell you it’s like no other. Every upgrade was thought out before installation. The owner is extremely meticulous with his 911 and only used the best products.

Bid with confidence! This 964 has modern upgrades while still retaining the aesthetic and dynamic engagement so prized by Porsche enthusiasts!

  • VertexAuto (registered bidder) 3 years, 8 monthsago

@JAB12 It was great to meet another fellow enthousiast and thank you for the kind words. I'm glad you liked the car, but I'm sorry to see you bow out. If anyone else would like to see the car in person, I have a few more locals coming by this afternoon. Cheers and best of luck with your bids!

Tapping out of this one early without even placing the first bid. I guess @EuroWerkz1 really wants it. The car looks and is much better in person, I viewed it a few days ago. The level of detail is unmatched. As good as it gets, and seller is A++. The type of enthusiast you want to buy from. Good luck to all!!

  • amissair (seller) 3 years, 8 monthsago

Undercarriage photos emailed to PcarMarket for upload. Had to remove the undercarriage engine cover to show mechanicals. Notice NO oil marks on heat exchangers/headers, lower valve covers are dry, engine case dry, etc. Also included shots of the KW V3 suspension, stainless steel braided brake lines, new CV boots, etc. Engine still has some areas with Porsche cosmoline from factory.

  • amissair (seller) 3 years, 8 monthsago

Thanks to all the locals who came to inspect and test drive the 964 today. Great meeting all of you. I hope the car stays local with in a good home. I hope to get some undercarriage shots, tomorrow, schedule permitting.

  • Fury996 3 years, 8 monthsago

Met the owner and saw the car today. One word: wow! This is the real deal. Someone is going to be very happy with this. Hope my budget is enough.

  • amissair (seller) 3 years, 8 monthsago

All the RS components on the car are factory OEM from Porsche: RS engine mounts, RS transmission mounts, RS front splitter. The RS rear center bumper is from Germany by FVD and made of the same ABS plastic as the OE bumpers. Just in case anyone was wondering. Anything put on this car was either Porsche factory or sourced in Germany. The only exception is the fabspeed sport cat, which is made in the US. No aftermarket junk.

  • amissair (seller) 3 years, 8 monthsago

Local buyer is viewing the car, today. Anyone else wanting to see it in person, today is best.

  • andreas64 3 years, 8 monthsago

Great 964 and possibly one of the best ones around

  • JAB12 (registered bidder) 3 years, 8 monthsago

The only things I would do to this beast is add clear corners to continue the decal line streak and change the '77 to '75 which is my birth year. Other than that, leave as is! pure purrrfection...!!

  • drola (registered bidder) 3 years, 8 monthsago

I'll just reiterate what others have said. I know the car and the seller. Rest assured that no detail has been overlooked and every one of those details has been carried through to extremely high standards. Winning bidder will not be disappointed !!

  • D90love 3 years, 8 monthsago

I personally have had the privilege of driving this beautiful machine. I happen to own a sub 28k mile C2 for reference. This is a very tastefully, thoughtfully, and methodically appointed car. It is extremely nimble and well balanced. I liked the weighted shifter so much I installed one in my car. You guys know that a nice 964 is hard to come by so if you’re serious about looking for the right one to come along you’re in luck!

@titleistaddict87 I'll check my photo album of the car if I have any recent undercarriage shots. If not, I will try to get it on a lift, but weekdays are tough with work hours.

  • MAlvarez 3 years, 8 monthsago

This is without a doubt one of the most well cared for 964s in SoFlo. I had the pleasure of helping the owner source a few pieces for the car and his demand for perfection is second to none.

  • cassis3.2 3 years, 8 monthsago

True gem. One of the finest 964s around. Its been awesome to see if this ride come together with each tasteful upgrade. From the color combo to each thought out detail... good luck to the winning bid...

  • titleistaddict87 3 years, 8 monthsago

Do you have photos of the undercarriage, crank case, valve coves and timing chain covers?

  • amissair (seller) 3 years, 8 monthsago

Second video added with cold and hot starts, ceramic coating in action, doors opening and closing, and sunroof operation.

  • MSQ (registered bidder) 3 years, 8 monthsago

    thanks much @amissair
    fantastic build/mods/car

  • amissair (seller) 3 years, 8 monthsago

@MSQ Here you go, these are from June, 2018:

    CYL 1: 3%, CYL 2: 3%, CYL 3: 4%, CYL 4: 3%, CYL 5: 4%, CYL 6: 4%

Also, I found in the old PPI from 1/22/18, that the technician noted the cylinder head gasket update had been performed, but no paid receipts were in hand. He also mentioned the case through bolt o-rings looked fine. Vehicle mileage was 88, 479 at the time.

  • amissair (seller) 3 years, 8 monthsago

@MSQ Will do! If I forget, please send me a message, directly as a reminder. Crazy busy at the hospital.

  • amissair (seller) 3 years, 8 monthsago

@u911y_duck Thanks! I had some really amazing teachers! Still learning everyday!

  • u911y_duck 3 years, 8 monthsago

I know this car and his owner quite well. Being a great Porsche expert and almost OCD with everything related with his cars, the attention for the detail in each modification and maintenance done in this car (let alone the amount of money) is amazing. If you are looking for a 964, I think you would be lucky getting this one.

    GLWS!

  • amissair (seller) 3 years, 8 monthsago

@titleistaddict87 They can be included, if the buyer wants them, at an additional cost. These are the 9Eleven Raven S LED headlights with daytime running lights, integrated turn signals, fluted lenses, and custom paint-matched rings. They are a $3000 upgrade, installed. If the winning bidder wants to keep them on the car, it will be $1800. They are like NEW. Zero flickering. No defects.

  • titleistaddict87 3 years, 8 monthsago

Great and fun build! Well done. To clarify, do the pictured headlights come with the car?

  • Singer2020 3 years, 8 monthsago

Bid in the amount of $36,000

  • MSQ (registered bidder) 3 years, 8 monthsago

@amissair Sounds great, will wait for leak down numbers.
What a great car! You really did it right.

  • amissair (seller) 3 years, 8 monthsago

@MSQ Sorry, forgot to answer this:

YES - original steering wheel (perfect condition), original headlights, original flag side mirrors, and original airbox lid included in sale, along with all tools, spare, compressor, jack, manual, and a 2-inch thick binder of records and receipts.

  • amissair (seller) 3 years, 8 monthsago

@MSQ Thanks for your questions. I will do my best to answer:
    1. The car had a leak-down test performed when I bought it around 3 years ago. Need to look for the report.

    2. No fluid leaks, just some light sweating from one of the chain tensioner covers which just requires a new seal during the next service.

    3. AC is cold (which says a lot in the Miami HEAT)

    4. 77 is my Brigadier number in the Roughneck Brigade, a Porsche enthousiast group from Sweden similar to R Gruppe, here in the US.

    5. I reached a point on this car that next mods would really alter the character, so I decided to stop. If anything, I would install a full 993 header and exhaust system with a Fabspeed sportcat X-pipe. But, in all honesty, the car needs nothing. Just gas.

  • MSQ (registered bidder) 3 years, 8 monthsago

@amissair Great looking car and really nice mods/upgrades. Seems all really well thought out.
    Some questions:
    - have you had a leak down test performed - if so what are the numbers?
    - any fluid leaks if the car is sitting for some time?
    - A/C blows cold?
    - Do you have the original steering wheel and if so does that come with the car?
    - if you were going to keep the car - are there any other mods or tweaks you would do?
    - what does the number 77 stand for (just curious, I realize it can be removed. No need to share if its personal)

Great looking car that seems really dialed in. GLWA.

  • amissair (seller) 3 years, 8 monthsago

For anyone concerned about the decals, they come right off easily because they were intentionally installed on top of the CQuartz ceramic coat. No issues, in case you prefer a clean look. Personally, they make great rock chip protectors for the sides. LOL

  • amissair (seller) 3 years, 8 monthsago

@Greggers13 Sure no problem. I have not dyno'd the car, 4WD makes it a bit of a pain. The HP/TQ numbers are estimated from the manufacturer reported gains, based on their analyses and those reported by others during their dyno's. I imagine it's probably 10% less. Hard to really know since the unsprung mass is nearly half due to the very light fuchs wheels it has, completely new fuel and injection system, and 993 ignition coil system. All of these will offset losses due to age, etc. BUT...it pulls like a 993 2S, and feels as light as a C2 (despite the added weight of the 4WD system). It's not a 3.8, but it's not lacking in any respect, either. Hope this helps.

  • Greggers13 3 years, 8 monthsago

amissair, couple more quick questions: Have you dyno'd the car? Also, what is the significance of the #77 on the side? BTW, love the MB blue carpet. I'm traditionally a stock guy, but it looks great.

  • remoorejr (registered bidder) 3 years, 8 monthsago

@amissair I'm in Boston but the wedding is at the Stein Erickson Lodge, Deer Valley Utah in December. Sure would be fun and wouldn't this car just fit the scene! Oh I'm dreaming again!

  • amissair (seller) 3 years, 8 monthsago

@remoorejr You can always buy the car and use it to transport the beautiful bride to the wedding ;)

  • remoorejr (registered bidder) 3 years, 8 monthsago

Magnificent! I'm imagining myself sitting at the top of Mt. Washington with this car after a wonderful drive up the Auto Road on a beautiful sunny day. Now that would be a priceless moment for me. If only my daughter wasn't getting married this year!

  • amissair (seller) 3 years, 8 monthsago

@Greggers13 Thank you! The car sits at RS spec height and has no issues with rubbing or bottoming out on speedbumps or typical Miami tarmac. The rears have 3mm spacers and 5mm in the front. Both are Rennline hubcentric. These widths were chosen to avoid having to use the longer (heavier) studs while retaining sufficient thread length (8 turns) to ensure safety. The wheels are extremely light, at 7.5kg made by Fuchs using the original forging process from 1 piece of extruded in-house aluminum.

  • WillyPDC (registered bidder) 3 years, 8 monthsago

I know this car from local events. A truly one of a kind 964. Both aesthetically and mechanically. Good luck to the buyer!

  • Greggers13 3 years, 8 monthsago

Love the stance. looks great with those wheels. Diamond blue also a great color.

  • amissair (seller) 3 years, 8 monthsago

@TyStav Thanks! It’s been a true labor of love. I forgot to mention in the listing the driving dynamics of the car. For anyone who is interested, we worked hard to dial out the C4’s natural understeer using RS spec geometry. The car is extremely neutral with mild oversteer. It’s planted and corners on rails. The engine starts right up cold/warm/hot. It pulls with strong linear acceleration and sings above 5000 rpm. It was tuned to have most torque in the low to mid-range, which is where most folks will use it. The throttle modulation is precise and heel toe effortless. The clutch is light and smooth with mid-point engagement. The gears shift smoothly with rifle bolt action due to a custom weighted shifter. It’s short and precise, without being racecar-like short-shifter. All gears engage easily and without hiccup. Many friends have noted how well setup the shifter is. Reverse engages easily. Overall, the car was built as a mountain carving GT, balancing comfort and performance. It is a fantastic highway tourer and capable backroad rocket with inspiring grip and steering. Hope this helps!

  • TyStav (registered bidder) 3 years, 8 monthsago

Awesome looking car....the updates are very tasteful!

  • amissair (seller) 3 years, 8 monthsago

The color of the car will change depending on ambient lighting conditions. I have tried to capture that characteristic by showing various photos of the car under natural daylight at noon, sunset, and morning. The paint will transform from metallic silver to grey to metallic blue grey. It’s quite stunning.

    Gorgeous! GLWS

  • amissair (seller) 3 years, 8 monthsago

I am here to answer any questions to the best of my ability.
Having owned over 20 classic Porsche cars, this 964 is truly exceptional.
It is well sorted and tremendous time and effort has been invested to find that perfect balance between performance, drivability, and reliability.
The car is a C4 that has received numerous suspension upgrades to achieve the feeling of a C2 with the grip and confidence of AWD.
It is tight, nimble, quick and drives as good as it looks. No excuses. Please bid with confidence.
