Up for auction is this outlaw-style 1990 Porsche 964 Carrera 3.8 L finished in black over a custom black leather interior. Beginning life as a standard 1990 Carrera 2, this 964 was treated to over $60k worth of custom modifications and mechanical work including an engine and transmission rebuild as well as a 3.8 L displacement upgrade. Offering unique styling and improved overall performance, this number’s matching 1990 example is now being offered for auction in ready-to-drive condition showing approximately 145k miles on the odometer.
Having recently undergone both paint correction and ceramic coating, the black finish on this 964 is said to be in great condition with some minor stone chips and blemishes (detailed images are provided in the photo gallery). The seller notes that the decklid seems to have been refinished at some point. Sporting custom details such as an RS style front bumper with integrated air ducts, Xenon headlights and a set of 17" Fifteen52 Magnus Walker wheels which come dressed in 2013 dated Bridgestone Potenza tires.
The black leather interior has been outfitted with performance-oriented modifications including brand new Recaro seats, a Black Forest shift knob, a Momo steering wheel, aluminum Rennline pedals and RS style door cards with custom handles. Other noteworthy features include red deviated stitching, red seat belts and a Porsche Classic Radio. The cabin is stated to be in very nice condition with all gauges, electrical components and accessories reported to be fully functional.
At 137k miles, this Carrera’s original 3.6 L flat-six engine was fully rebuilt and professionally bored out to a 3.8 L displacement by Gerber Motorsports in Seattle, Washington. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a number’s matching G50 5-speed manual transmission which has been rebuilt and updated with a new OEM clutch kit and flywheel. Performance upgrades include billet rods, 993 RS Euro cams, a GT3 plenum, titanium valve springs, lowered suspension, new brakes and an Infinity ECU from Turbo Kraft. The seller notes at 144k miles the vehicle was commissioned to Concours Cars of Colorado where $21k was invested to enhance and dial-in all the previous upgrades. With a significant increase in horsepower and performance over factory specs, this 964 is said to be in excellent running order.
The sale of this unique Porsche 964 will include original books and spare parts, one master key and a collection of service records. Exhibiting tasteful modifications and high-end performance upgrades, this custom-built 3.8 L 964 represents an incredible value.

Thank you to all the bidders and congratulations to the buyer! I'll definitely be posting more cars to PCar in the future. This was a great first experience.

@BlackMTN thank you sir for quick response.
@sdrgt3rs Those are two thin spots in the paint from 30 years of buffing. The previous owner had a respray done on the hood to repair rock chips but I believe the rest of the car is original single stage paint. The paint shows well as a whole and it would be an easy repair, I just decided to keep the paint as original as it was when I purchased the car.

@sdrgt3rs It looks like a blemish to me as well. That’s what kept me from increasing my bid. Also curious

Hi Seller, sorry for the last minute question... in the video you were zooming in on the top of the rear fenders was that to show a blemish as it looked like a mark on the top of both. But maybe it was a reflection?
Bid in the amount of $65,500
I am here to answer any last-minute questions. Good luck bidders!
@joshuaycrs No luck on that sorry. I am a one-person shop and just didn't have the time to set up the camera to do it properly. If it doesn't hit reserve here soon then we can slow down and I'll send you a proper video.

Any update on a driving video?
@Walshy 271 to the wheels. I think you're mixing up flywheel hp and whp. 271 whp for a 964 is excellent. The car is mildly tuned right now, you could easily get more power out of this engine. I did not want to get it tuned for my altitude if the car is going to a sea-level town.
@BlackMTN That has to be a mistake. Isn't that lower that the 3.6?!?!?!

@Walshy Dyno'd at 271hp and 246lbft.
@orangebox I don't have any idea, unfortunately. I do have the new Fabspeed sport cat though.
Do we have knowledge of HP?
Any opinion if it would pass CA smog? Thanks.

@joshuaycrs I'll see if I can grab one when the weather clears up here shortly.
Would you by chance be able to post up a short driving video?
I just scanned the rebuild paperwork and the $20k+ shakedown it received here in Colorado less than 1000 miles ago. Please shoot me a message if you would like to see those documents. This car is an absolute blast to drive and the buyer is going to be extremely happy with their purchase. We'll call it a Covid reserve too, it's very fair I think. Good luck to the bidders! I'm here to answer questions. Thank you, John

@jaynar The car comes with a new Fabspeed sport cat in a box.
Curious if the cat is still on the car?
I sent undercarriage photos to the PCar folks so those should be posted soon. While on the lift I confirmed the suspension has been upgraded with Bilsteins B8s and H&R springs as I thought. There is a Fabspeed exhaust also.
@entropism You are correct, there is a lot more that has been done to this car. I have not found the documentation that says the Rothsport kit was installed. I apologize for not getting the undercarriage pics and video up sooner. The shop has been very busy since the Covid situation is easing. I will get the undercarriage shots and video up today.
I know this car. The engine has a lot more work done to it than the sellers are describing. It has a Rothsport ITB kit, if I'm not mistaken.

@panton @panton, I'll take a video tomorrow morning if the weather is clear.
@jaynar @jaynar, Sorry I missed part of your question. I have a box of small parts but nothing major.
Is it possible to a old start/walk around video.
@jaynar Thank you @jaynar. AC blows cold, it was serviced recently and a new evap cooler was installed. I've owned a few of these and this is the first one where the AC works great and the stereo sounds awesome. The interior smells new from those fresh Recaros also.
Gorgeous. AC Cold? Any stock parts included?
