In 1988, Porsche introduced the 944 Turbo S, which boasted a 30-horsepower increase from the standard 944 Turbo. From 1989 onwards, the enhanced powertrain of the Turbo S became standard for the Turbo model although the ‘S’ designation was discontinued. Finished in the extremely rare shade of Glacier Metallic over black upholstery, this 1990 example also features a limited-slip differential, front seat heating, cruise control, an additional amplifier, a Bosch antilock brake system, and more. Showing approximately 117k kilometers (less than 73k miles) on the odometer, this 944 Turbo is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Canada.

Compared to a standard 944, the Turbo (951) model features a more aerodynamically refined nose and a body-colored rear diffuser. This example comes finished in the seldom-seen shade of Glacier Metallic (LY5U). Equipment includes pop-up headlights with washers, front fog lights, an electric slide/tilt sunroof, and a rear spoiler. It rides on 16” Design 90 wheels dressed in Ironman iMove Gen 2 tires from 2024. Minor imperfections are noted on the hood, and detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a CARFAX report noting minor left-front damage in September 2001.

The Black interior features leather front seats with leatherette rear and side upholstery. Accessories include front seat heating, cruise control, a sound system, an additional amplifier, and an air conditioning system which is currently inoperable. Additionally, a MOMO steering wheel has been installed. A list of decoded options is provided below:

  • LY5U – Glacier Metallic
  • LT – Black
  • 139 - Seat heating, left
  • 220 - LSD Limited Slip Differential with 40% lock
  • 288 - Headlamp washer
  • 340 - Seat heating, right
  • 454 - Automatic speed control
  • 490 - Sound system
  • 494 - Additional amplifier
  • 533 - Alarm
  • 573 - Air conditioner
  • 593 - ABS Antilock Brake System (Bosch)
  • 650 - Detachable roof panel, electrically openable
  • 946 - Leather front seats with leatherette rear side

The M44/52 2.5-liter inline 4-cylinder turbocharged engine, originally rated at 247 HP and 258 lb-ft of torque, sends power to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission with a limited-slip differential. Stopping power is provided by 4-piston calipers with ventilated discs and a Bosch anti-lock braking system. The seller adds that the timing belt and water pump were serviced within the last 10k kilometers (~6,200 miles).

This sale will include a Canadian registration, owner’s manuals, a toolkit, a spare tire, and an air pump.

The seller would like you to know: “Beloved 951, Babied & Pampered by a true enthusiast, from great Stable. 1990. With Factory wing used on gen that follows: 968. Perfect Handling with Extra OOMPH. Thanks to the Turbo. Bid to WIN!”

Another quick question before this wraps up….
Is the hood original to the car? I know this was in an accident and just wanted to verify if the vin was stamped on the hood or if it was replaced at the time of the accident. You can see it has been repainted due to the lack of under hood insulation. Thank you

  • bobsuga (registered bidder) 4 days, 9 hoursago

I understand you don't have documentation of the timing belt replacement. Did the prior owner give an approximate date of replacement? I would consider driving it to South Dakota unless there is a real concern about the timing belt's age.

@Daman410 Photo 131: Rear trunk carpet, reversed. The shaded area is simply the spare wheel marks on the foam.

  • Daman410 (registered bidder) 1 weekago

Is that an oil leak on the passenger side front? (Pic 131) Dusty on the outskirts and as you creep up towards the engine there is oily looking residue. Like it is permeating out from somewhere. Thanks.

@porsdrvr95 Motor mounts / Timing Belt water pump were replaced less than 10000 kms according to Owner. No records / date unfortunately. Came originally with A/C (Option 573) Not working currently.

In Absence of service records. Winner of THIS Lot should Commission the replacement of Timing belt / Water pump Service prior going ballistic. Sound small investment.

The wheels pictured are actually Design 90's (possibly from a 944 S2), not the original Club Sport wheels that would have come on this car. It will be expensive to source the correct light weight Club Sport wheels in good condition.
