Up for auction is this 1990 Porsche 944 S2 Cabriolet 5-speed finished in Linen Metallic over a Burgundy full leather interior.  Marking the final evolution of the Porsche 944, the S2 model was launched in 1989 featuring a larger 3.0 L 4-cylinder engine and revised styling from the Turbo model.  Finished in a rare color combination, this 1990 example is equipped with desirable factory options including leather Sport Seats and a limited slip differential.  Highlighting some noteworthy recent service items carried out within the last 1k miles, this S2 Cabriolet is ready to be enjoyed with approximately 133k miles showing on the odometer.

The Linen Metallic finish is said to be in great shape with some minor roadgoing wear as can be seen in the photo gallery.  The seller indicates the trunk and hood to have been professionally refinished under previous ownership.  This S2 Cabriolet showcases Turbo-derived styling with its revised nose and body-colored diffuser located below the rear bumper.  This 944 rides on factory D90 wheels which come dressed in ATR Sport tires from 2018.

Inside, this Cabriolet sports a Burgundy full leather interior with factory Sport Seats.  The cabin is said to be in good condition, although there is a broken piece of plastic trim on the driver’s door and some cracks have been noted on the dashboard.  The shifter and steering wheel have been newly wrapped in leather and the inner convertible top liner has also been replaced.  Refurbished original Porsche floormats are installed up front with aftermarket Lloyds matts in the rear.  A new Bluetooth stereo and amplifier have been outfitted and the factory 10-speaker sound system has been refreshed.  The air conditioning system has been recently recharged and updated to R134, and the convertible top has also been switched to manual operation.  The seller indicates all gauges and accessories to be fully functional although the driver's side door lock is not currently working.  Factory options selected for this 944 include:

  • Limited Slip Differential
  • Headlamp Washers
  • Automatic Speed Control
  • Additional Amplifier
  • Alarm System
  • Air Conditioning
  • Sport Seats
  • Leather Seats

Power comes from a naturally aspirated 3.0 L 4-cylinder engine which is mated to a numbers matching 5-speed manual transmission with a factory limited slip differential.  208 HP is sent to the rear wheels making for a 0-60 time of approximately 6.5 seconds.  New Koni strut inserts have been installed in the front with Bilstein inserts in the rear.  Over $15k in service has been carried out over the past 5 years with the following items recently performed within the last 1k miles:

  • New Spark Plugs
  • Ignition Wires
  • Distributor Cap and Rotor
  • Air Filter
  • Oil Change
  • New Trunk Struts
  • Timing Belt Service and Pulley Kit

New front brake pads and rotors were also recently installed before a full brake fluid flush.  Included service records from new show proper routine maintenance and this 944 is said to drive exceptionally well.

The sale of this 944 will include a set of two keys, owner’s books and a collection of service records dating back to the original purchase.  If you’re in search of a vintage Porsche, this 5-speed 944 S2 makes an excellent choice.

@manuals4ever In picture 55 you can see the chip as well. One other area that has a small crack is in image 33 on the passengers side molding strip the end that sticks out past the door has a crack in it.

@manuals4ever You are right it has some small scratches and one chip in the paint there. Just sent photos of it to PCARMARKET. Looks like a small tap at some point and could possibly be pulled slightly but very hard to notice in person. Sent in more images of the side as well to show it better and the scratches as well as the headlights up. Also sent in a cold start video.

@manuals4ever Let me put some picts with the front headlights up and some different angles as I think that is what is making it looked creased. I noticed that in the image there as well. Sending those images to Pcarmarket now.

The two best options on this one are sport seats and limited slip differential.
One correction, this does not have “full leather”, but instead has the more typical partial leather seats along with leather steering wheel and shifter boot.
Hope this sees more bids as it appears to be a magnificent driver level vehicle with good maintenance and care.

    Love this color combo!
The front driver side corner looks a little off. Headlight cover doesn't sit flush. Looks like a subtle crease about the side marker. Definitely looks like its been tapped in the front. Also, I notice no pictures with the lights/headlight cover flipped open.
    GLWTA!
