In 1989, Porsche introduced the 944 S2 Cabriolet, marking the first time the 944 model was available in a convertible body style. Presented in Linen Grey Metallic over Linen upholstery, this 1990 Cabriolet example was also optioned with 8-way power front seats in leather, driver’s seat lumbar support, a Hi-Fi sound system, and additional amplifier, cruise control, air conditioning, antilock brakes, and more. Showing under 16k miles on the odometer, this S2 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New York.
This example is finished in Linen Grey Metallic with a black convertible soft top and rides on 16” forged “manhole cover” wheels dressed in Hankook Ventus S1 Noble tires from 2019. Exterior features include distinctive pop-up headlights, integrated front fog lights, rear Porsche lettering, and black rock guards placed ahead of the rear fenders. The seller describes the exterior to remain in excellent original condition with a few minor cosmetic imperfections, as depicted in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The interior features Linen upholstery with 8-way power seats, driver’s lumbar support, and leather front seats with leatherette side and rear trim. Optional equipment also includes a Hi-Fi sound system with an additional amplifier, cruise control, air conditioning, and an alarm system. A Blaupunkt AM/FM/cassette stereo is equipped as standard. All gauges, electronics, and accessories are reported to be in proper working order.
Power comes from a naturally aspirated 3.0-liter inline 4-cylinder engine delivering 208 HP and 207 lb.-ft of torque, driving the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission. Braking is handled by fixed 4-piston ventilated discs, with an optional Anti-lock Braking System (ABS). The seller notes recent service in July 2022 at 14,800 miles included the replacement of the timing and balance shaft belts, accessory belts, a new battery, and engine mounts. Additionally, all fluids were replaced within the last 1,500 miles.
This sale will include a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: "The S2 is the last and best (in my opinion) 944 to drive, with only around 2400 Convertibles coming to North America it is a relatively rare Porsche model. An outstanding example of a very low mile and very original 944 S2 Cabriolet. Performs and feels close to new, also it is a 15k-mile car that has been serviced up to date and is ready to be enjoyed."

This is phenomenal S2 in every aspect and I am confident that the next owner will be very happy with it.
@P911ed Why are you selling it after such a short ownership?
- Lack of use compared to our other Porsche cars.
Has it had any clutch work?
Clutch is original and perfect as it should be at this mileage.
Does the AC work properly and blow cold?
It works properly and so does everything else on the car.

@Maui928 - was done before my ownership - in my opinion the black rock guards blend with the other black accents (door handles, rear bumper strips, top, mirror bezels, rocker trim, front bumper trim) and in person it works.
Either way it is personal preference and easy enough to switch them back to clear.
Is there a reason why the rock guards have been replaced with black; does Porsche no longer carry clear? I replaced mine with clear a few years ago and got the parts directly from the dealer. Switching to clear should be an easy fix for the new owner if desired as the black sticks out like a sore thumb to me.

@richjs43 - Appreciate the positive feedback and thanks for the wishes.
@PlaPan: Awesome 944. I wish I was in the market for another Porsche. I have owned 1976 912E, 914, many 911’s. A 944 would be a great addition to my list. Best wishes for a successful auction.

@Weeeeee - picture 125 shows an outline of service work performed including the timing and balance shaft belt replacement.
Any receipts or proof of that large service in July of '22? There's no mention of it in the carfax...
