Presented in Forest Green Metallic, this 1990 Porsche 964 is one of only 158 Targa versions produced for the U.S. during the model year and even fewer to have been configured as a Carrera 2 with a 5-speed manual gearbox. It was purchased new from Ed Byrnes Porsche in Massachusetts and remained under the care of its original owner up until recently. A rare example of the Porsche 964 accompanied by extensive records and documentation, this Targa is now being offered for auction out of New York showing approximately 88k miles on the odometer.
This 964 comes factory-finished in the rarely seen color of Forest Green Metallic (22E) with a black wraparound Targa band and removable roof panel. It rides on a set of factory 16” Design 90 cast alloy wheels, additional images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The black partial leather interior remains highly original in appearance with its factory Blaupunkt Reno radio. Accessories include central locking doors, automatic climate control, power-adjustable seats, a rear window defogger, an analog clock, a locking glove box, and an 8-speaker sound system.
An air-cooled 3.6-liter flat-six engine delivers as much as 247 HP to the rear wheels through a 5-speed G50 manual transmission. Standard performance features include force-sensitive power steering, power-vented disc brakes with ABS, toe-correcting rear suspension, an extendable rear spoiler, and stabilizer bars front and rear. A lifetime of maintenance documentation accompanies the sale including an invoice for a major engine-out service and re-seal by European Performance Engineering (EPE) in 2011. A more recent invoice from EPE shows the clutch master and slave cylinders replaced in 2018 at just over 88k miles along with a brake fluid flush, A/C system check, and general service.
This sale will include the original owner’s manuals and sales documents, extensive service records, a toolkit, a spare tire, an air compressor, and a clean title.

@savethe3rdpedal hood and frunk line up perfectly. The car is presented about as honestly as possible. Please remember that these were hand built and hand painted, you will not get the exactness you will with cars painted by robot. This is why I invite in person inspections prior to bidding. This is a very original car and you can bid accordingly. If there is something making you uncomfortable please send a private message and perhaps it can be resolved on a phone call. There are no secrets here and this is about as honest as a car that you can find vs many with multiple owners and no docs. If anything was painted it is not really detectable so there should be no issues. Certainly no panels have been off of the car from what I can see.
Quick questions regarding the paint meter readings: Picture 105 shows a reading of 8.71, which seems higher that average. It appears to be the passenger side door. Additionally, image 111 shows a slightly above average reading of 6.36, and images 26 and 27 seem to show a trunk hood fit that is slightly off, indicating possible removal and reinstallation. Has there been any indication from the previous owner that these two panels have had some work done?
Hello and thank you to all of you who have shown interest. Want to remind everyone that while 964 Targa's are rare, a few have come to market recently. I would rate this as one of the very best due to rarity of color, condition, extensive docs, and it being a ONE-OWNER CAR! Bid with confidence, remember comes with loads of docs, not factory keys, and original window sticker!

@Carpair hi. I believe the suspension is original (not in need of any repairs). If you can’t see the date codes from the photos I will confirm them on Mon morning and report back. Thank you for the interest !
Do you have both keys?

Is this car riding on the original suspension? Do you know the age of the tires?
@Lefty2209 hi and happy thanksgiving! No, it has been kept up with very well over the years. With any old air cooled car, nothing is leak proof but with that being said, the underside is dry and no drops or left underneath when parked. Thank you for the interest
@EUROsellinc Does this car leak oil?

@galileo meter readings are provided for peace of mind. Having no bearing on value, the rear bumper was once professionally touched up/sprayed to remedy a scuff that could not be buffed. All metal surfaces are original panels with no evidence of respray.
@RattlesnakePete thank you.
@charliek911 thanks for the kind words!
@WallyHH no factual answer so safe to assume the previous owner didn't get around to it. The car has currently been looked over by our tech prior to purchase and has no issues to speak of. Feel free to stop by and have a look for yourself.
@Carpair everything is in excellent working order and it would be fair to describe this wonderful Targa as "turn key"
It will be parked at PCAR HQ in Ny and is available to potential bidders for pre bidding inspections
Welcome to the auction for this special 964 Targa with extensive documentation and history. Truly a great find, want to wish all of the bidders and interested parties a happy Thanksgiving and excited to get this going!
The carfax shows safety inspections in summer for every single year - except in 2020, 2021 and 2022. How does that come ?
Correction...WISH. that is.
Correction...C2Cab, that is...
At 72 years of age, I do not recall, ever, saying "WOW", more, after viewing all of your offerings on this site!!!! My collection includes a museum piece, 1993 C1 Cab, and it has the same seats as this Targa...being the most comfortable that I have ever sat my fat ass in. This targa is just "TITS" and I with you and the buyer GL!!!!
Is paint original?

I have a 2017 Turbo S in Forest Green Metallic. While I am of course biased, the color is sublime and never fails to get comments. What a tremendous Targa. GLWA and congrats in advance to the buyer.
Does the car leak any oil? Does the AC blow cold? Is there anything on the car that does not function correctly?
