This 1990 Porsche 964 Carrera 2 Coupe was acquired by the seller in 2023 as the basis for a custom RS-inspired restoration. The engine displacement is reportedly upgraded to 3.8 liters and features a Steve Wong performance chip, a lightweight flywheel, and Fabspeed RSR performance headers. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 5-speed G50 manual transmission with a limited-slip differential, a lightweight flywheel and a new Sachs clutch kit. The car has been refinished in Black and customized with a center-outlet 991 GT3 muffler, a smoothed-out front bumper with RS air ducts, updated Aero mirrors, KW coilovers, and gloss black 17” Sport Edition wheels. The interior includes Nappa leather Recaro Sportster CS seats, a MOMO Mod 07 leather steering wheel, a black anodized Function First shift knob, Rennline trim pieces, and a new Porsche Classic (PCCM) head unit with Apple CarPlay. Reworked and modified for a true driving enthusiast, this one-of-a-kind 964 is now being offered for auction out of Florida.
This Carrera 2 has been completely refinished in Black (L700) and features a custom smoothed-out front bumper with RS front bumper air duct inserts, updated Aero mirrors, and a 991 GT3 muffler with dual center-mounted tailpipes in black. The ride height has been lowered with street-tuned KW coilovers complementing the 17” Sport Edition Cup 4 wheels, finished in gloss black and mounted with 2017 Bridgestone Potenza S-04 tires. The seller notes a new OEM Porsche hood crest has been installed. The CARFAX report shows the vehicle was issued a rebuilt/salvage title due to flood damage in 2003, and the car is currently offered with a rebuilt/salvage Montana title. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with the full CARFAX report.
The black interior has been modified with Nappa leather Recaro Sportster CS bucket seats, a MOMO Mod 07 black leather steering wheel, and an anodized black aluminum Function First shift knob. Rennline accessories have been installed including perforated anodized black door handles, an anodized black ignition lock surround, and an integrated phone mount. A modern Porsche Classic Communication Management (PCCM) head unit has been fitted which includes Apple CarPlay compatibility. Other features include power windows and mirrors, an electric sunroof, a central locking system, air-conditioning, and a new Holley GPS odometer that currently shows 126 miles. The seller adds that the horns, driver’s side window switches, A/C suitcase, blower motors, condenser, and climate control unit have been recently replaced.
A replacement M64 flat-six engine was sourced from a 1992 Porsche 964 Carrera 2 under prior ownership and reportedly upgraded to a 3.8-liter displacement. It features a Steve Wong performance chip, a lightweight flywheel, and Fabspeed RSR performance headers. The rear wheels are driven through a replacement G50 5-speed manual transmission with a new Sachs clutch kit and a limited-slip differential. An engine-out service was performed under current ownership including new timing covers, cam seals, valve cover gaskets, a fan belt, and an engine compartment sound pad. The seller notes that there is no supporting documentation for the 3.8-liter upgrade; however, during the top-end rebuild, KMW Motorsports observed that the pistons and cylinders appeared to be aftermarket. An oil change was performed in June 2024, and the following compression and leak-down test results were provided by the seller:
This sale will include a collection of invoices, an itemized Excel restoration spreadsheet, and a salvage/rebuilt Montana title showing an odometer reading of 117,500 miles.
The seller would like you to know: “Thanks for taking a look at my 964 auction. This 911 Carrera 2 is an absolute growling monster. Having built and owned several other 964s, this is an incredibly responsive and thrilling drive, and the tasteful updates such as the GT3 center outlet exhaust with Fabspeed RSR headers, and cabin accouterments such as the Recaro Sportster CS seats in leather and the Porsche classic radio make for a great combination. I am an industrial designer by trade, and building and restoring air-cooled 911s is my absolute passion. I have all build invoices over the last 13 months, as well as a full Excel document detailing all that was done to the car since taking ownership.”

thanks for all the interest in the auction thus far, doing my best to answer everyone's questions. We have 48 hours left and wishing luck to the bidders!
@Porsche964993 yes rebuilt titles can be imported to Canada, subject to import fees, and needs to be certified by Transport Canada.
Can this be imported into Canada?
@Upshift4 black, the car was repainted in it’s original color by the previous owner.
Question... "refinished in black". what was original color?
Bid in the amount of $57,500
Nice build. It's too bad that it has a Salvage/Branded title
Beautiful build and that 991 GT muffler Maui wowwie that’s good!!!! That’s a spicy and tempting piece

@Spectrumark thanks Mark, I had pcarmarket upload 31 invoice documents. The major restoration build invoices are all from KMW. KMW is on a short list as one of the most reputable air-cooled shops in South Florida. Thanks again for looking!

Hi modificaclassica, I appreciate the Excel sheet on all the updates/modifications, however there are no receipts to back up any of this information. I understand, you don't have documents from the previous owner, but what about documents from KMW and the work you had done. Thanks
@Mr.Blue thanks, I am not looking for a trade. To answer your question regarding what a reserve is: The auction reserve is the minimum price a seller will accept for an item being auctioned. It's a safety net for sellers that protects them from selling an item for less than they want to.
@Doorman the engine swap was done by the most recent previous owner along with the 3.8L build for which he had no documentation. At one point in his career he was a service tech at Brumos in Jacksonville. He then went on to work as a service manager for a Mercedes dealer in South Florida. The 964 was his gift to himself for his retirement. Unfortunately, he did all the original work himself and didn’t document any of it.
His health majorly declined in the last year before I was able to purchase the car from him, and it took nearly 3 months just to get the car into KMW for a PPI before I bought it because the gentleman was in and out of the hospital constantly and insisted on driving the car himself to KMW for the PPI.
Since then, the top end rebuild, new clutch, and many many many other items which are in the screen shots of my gallery were all addressed by KMW. I have all the detailed supporting invoices with all the parts I ordered, KMW ordered, as well as a full excel build documenting all that was done to the car under my ownership.
I took the car on one nice air cooled breakfast run since finishing the build, as well as the drive last week for the photo and video. Hope this is helpful.
@ modificaclassica can you please give an regarding my question?
Bid in the amount of $35,000
@modificaclassica - Do you have any information on who did the engine swap/build? Any conformation that it is 3.8 liters now? Any conformation/paperwork from KMW on what is exactly in the engine? I like the car but the lack of documentation is a little concerning. Thanks
@Jp4272 I do not have any documentation on the vehicle prior to purchasing it; however, I have detailed invoices for the subsequent build over the last 13 months. While this 964 won’t be winning any concourse events any time soon, it is an absolute stunner, and a very rewarding drive.
@Jp4272 it was 22 years ago in 2003, carfax attached to the auction. The entire car has been completely redone. Thanks for looking!
When was the flood damage? What was the extent of the flood damage? Do you have the Insurance report & pictures of the flood damage? Was the interior completely redone after the flood damage? Is there any remnants of the flood damage? Does the interior have any lingering smells such as mold or mildew ?

@Peteweiss My best guess is it’s somewhere between 270-290hp. No dyno results but it is a monster, definitely feels like it makes way more power than a stock 964 C2.
Hi!
Beautiful!
Any guess as to HP for this motor? Dyno ever done?
the Recaro Sportster CS seem to suit the 964 vintage
@CMG55 thanks, put a tremendous amount of love, sweat, and tears in this build.
Bid in the amount of $10,000
Wonderful offering for the site. Noticed you have a reserve. What is that and is there an interest in a trade with difference of added/adjusted?
@Edward-YG yes you can register rebuilt titles in California
Bid in the amount of $5,250
I absolutely Love the vibe you’ve got going with this 964!
Very nice job and good luck with the sale.
What’s your next project??;<)
Gorgeous build ! Any idea if this car can be registered in California?
@boosted33 I had KMW inspect the car for me before buying to determine the frame was absolutely straight and rust free. It had no signs of any accidents whatsoever.
The car had no radio, no AC, and had to be completely redone. This is a tailored track monster that you could comfortably take out for a Sunday coffee.
It’s certainly not a concourse car, it’s a tried and true absolute outlaw 964 and it rips and sends every single time I take it out.
@boosted33 I added a few more pics to the gallery with engine out. Also, there was some minor rust bubbling in the windshield cowl which was repaired and repainted. There are close up pics of the windshield cowl.

Can we get underside photos of suspension components and engine bay?
Can we get a photo of the cowl seal pulled back for a rust check?
Any details on the flood damage? Are all electricals in order?
Triple black dream 964!
