This 1990 Porsche 964 Carrera Coupe has undergone a comprehensive, no-expense-spared custom build spanning more than two years, highlighted by a complete refinish in blue with a sunroof deletion and widened body panels, a full drivetrain overhaul from Rothsport Racing, and a bespoke interior by DJ Designs. Featuring a custom-built 4.0-liter air-cooled flat-six incorporating Mahle pistons, custom Nicasil-coated cylinders, and a MoTeC M84 engine management system, the powertrain is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission and a billet short-shifter assembly. Additional upgrades include extensive chassis seam welding, RS sway bars, adjustable JRZ coilover suspension, 15" Brembo brakes, a titanium exhaust system, and much more. The body was fitted with lightweight carbon fiber panels, RS-style brake ducts, aero mirrors, and custom Augment three-piece wheels, while the cabin received full blue leather upholstery with gold accents, custom Recaro carbon fiber racing seats, a Sparc Industries steering wheel, redesigned VDO gauges, custom pedals, and Porsche Classic Communication Management with Apple CarPlay integration. Excluding the cost of the original vehicle, over $622k was invested in this meticulous transformation. Driven approximately 700 miles since its completion, this one-of-a-kind 964 is a lifelong California car now offered for auction with under 34k miles showing on the odometer.
The body features custom-fabricated, widened carbon fiber panels, including the front bumper, lower front splitter, front fenders, rocker panels, rear quarter panels, and rear bumper. A sunroof delete was also performed, followed by a professional refinish in blue. Details include upgraded headlights, RS-style front air ducts, a custom front bumper design with enhanced cooling, aero mirrors, and silver brake calipers with red Brembo lettering beneath satin gold-finished 18” Augment three-piece wheels. Like-new Toyo Proxes R888 tires are mounted, measuring 235mm wide at the front and 305mm at the rear. Additionally, a satin gold-themed Porsche crest has been fitted, and the turn signals, fog lights, and taillights have been tinted. Documentation of the build is provided in the gallery, along with a collection of additional images and a clean CARFAX report.
Inside, the scanned, rendered, and reupholstered cabin was completely crafted by DJ Designs and is said to have received the 2023 SEMA Auto Metal Direct Interior of the Year Award. The interior is enveloped in extensive blue leather and suede upholstery, complemented by gold accents, carbon fiber elements, and deviated stitching. Features include a Sparc Industries steering wheel, custom Recaro carbon fiber bucket seats with bespoke seat centers, revamped VDO instrumentation, a gold bezel for the central tachometer, a rear luggage compartment, custom pedals, electronic air conditioning, and Porsche Classic Communication Management with Apple CarPlay integration.
Power comes from a custom-built 4.0-liter flat-six engine by Rothsport Racing, reportedly producing 425 HP at 7,800 RPM and managed by a MoTeC M84 engine management system. The build includes a 4.0-liter crankshaft, RS 4.0 countershaft set, Mahle pistons, and custom cylinders with Nicasil coating. The engine is topped with new 3.8-liter cylinder heads featuring 53mm intake and 41.5mm stainless exhaust valves, Elgin valve springs, titanium retainers, and a new camshaft set. Supporting systems include a 964 gasket set, GT3 oil pump, GT3 rod bearings, and a 993TT engine fan. Additional details include RS engine mounts, new engine-to-body seals, and a custom engine wiring harness with the ECU mounted and integrated accordingly. The rear wheels are driven through a 5-speed manual transmission and a custom shifter setup featuring a billet short shifter assembly, Goldenrod main shift rod, forward shift rod with rod ends, shift tube bushings, and CV joint hardware. Chassis modifications were performed to accommodate the upgraded linkage and included extensive seam welding for reinforcement. Additional upgrades include a titanium exhaust system, urethane steering rack mount, 993 bump-steer outer tie rods, GT2/RSR inner tie rods, RS sway bars, adjustable JRZ coilover suspension, and 15” six-piston Brembo brake calipers. Extensive build documentation is available in the gallery.

Looking through the photos it was obvious that this car was built for a show before I even read the comments. Will the underbody panels come with the car?
This is right up there with Singer & Gunther in terms of build quality and performance. What an incredible build, hope whoever takes this home drives the hell out of it!
Bid in the amount of $100,000
Wouldn’t be hard to fix this, the exterior is pretty nice so just gut the interior, throw an RS carpet kit, RS door cards, & a couple of pole positions in and it’s ready to go!
Bid in the amount of $64,964
FYI. It was referenced in the video about how clean the car was before starting the project. You can see for yourself from a for sale listing of the car from when purchased: https://classiccars.com/listings/view/1304002/1990-porsche-964-for-sale-in-marina-del-rey-california-90292
@dougmckee...Appreciate your comment and insight. I've always been a fan of subtle details on cars and appreciate the builder must be too. Every time you look at the car you see something new that's unique that you hadn't seen before...it's a work of art.
@JJensen...There have been about 700 miles added since the completion of the build. As referenced in the video, the car was driven to some events in Monterrey after completion and then to Los Angeles from Northern California for the video. The car has resided in Southern California since and is in the owner's collection of cars, driven sparingly.
Please include the number of miles driven after the build, thank you
this is the best 911 ive ever seen , singer could learn from this. i cant believe the design and execution. i have owned 60 plus porsches , i attend 10 car shows a year....... this car is perfection. i wont be able to bid high enough to acquire this gem . the new owner will have the best 911 on the planet, congratulations to the current owner and the new owner. wow it sets a new standard on the 911 reimagined theme.
Welcome to the auction of this special, one-off 964. We recently sold the owner's E-Type UK Jaguar E-Type and now am listing this vehicle for him. It was finished and featured at the 2023 SEMA Show where it was one of the Top 12 vehicles in the Builder's Showcase and won the Interior of the Year award as mentioned in the listing. The interior is the nicest I have ever seen in ANY car. There is a lot of press on this car from it's debut and since then has been in the owner's collection. A video with the builder and Autotopia that gives a ton of details is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3LqY1bHnstQ
