We are pleased to present this custom-restored 1990 Land Rover Defender 90 by Arkonik. Regard as one of the foremost Land Rover restorationists in the world, Arkonik acquired this 1990 Defender 90 and performed a custom frame-off restoration to the highest possible standard. This Arkonik build was inspired by the one-off “2-millionth Defender”, built by Land Rover in 2015 to celebrate 2 million Defenders built over the course of 67 years at its Solihull factory. Commissioned with Arkonik in October of 2016, this Defender features a two-tone Billet Silver and gloss black contrasting exterior, an upgraded suspension, Kahn wheels, BF Goodrich all-terrain tires, and a factory-style hand-stitched black leather interior. This meticulously restored Defender 90 custom is now being offered for auction out by its seller out of New Jersey with just over 3k miles since the restoration.
After being delivered to Arkonik in Somerset, England, this Defender 90 was completely disassembled before the original steel frame was completely shot-blasted to bare metal, realigned, primed, and Raptor-coated for extra durability. Brand new body panels were fabricated to exact specifications and refinished in non-metallic Billet Silver (3738), with a gloss black roof, fender flares, headlight bezels, fender vents, door hinges, and mirrors. The new bodywork is protected by a standard steel front bumper with a silver steering and front differential guard, aluminum Fire & Ice side steps, and a NAS rear step. Other exterior details include a metal Puma hood, a swing-away spare tire carrier, black mudflaps, an aircon front grille, satin black wing top vents, embossed gloss black badging, and an Arkonik spare tire cover. The original wheels have been replaced with 18” Kahn 1983 wheels finished in Satin Black and mounted with 265/65/18 BF Goodrich K02 A/T tires.
The interior is trimmed in black hand-stitched leather with modular front seats and rear lock & fold cargo area seats. The interior retrofit begins with tailored sound-proofing and new carpeting throughout followed by a fully-custom wiring harness produced in-house from scratch, an all-new dashboard, rubber seals, interior panels, roof lining, instrument gauges, and door hardware. Interior amenities include a new front cubby box, an updated air conditioning system, and a Sony RSX-GS9 stereo head unit with Bluetooth.
This Defender 90 is powered by a 2.5L Land Rover 200Tdi turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine, which produced up to 113 HP and 195 lb.-ft of torque when new. All four wheels are driven by a 5-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. The engine and transmission were completely rebuilt by Arknonik prior to installation and fitted with all new internals and hardware. The brakes, suspension, and steering have also been rebuilt including the installation of a 2” Terrafirma lift kit with Bilstein shocks and an RTC steering damper. Each Arkonik Defender is thoroughly inspected and subjected to a 250-mile road test prior to delivery.
This sale will include a clean title. A beautifully executed custom restoration inspired by Land Rover's "2 Millionth Defender" this Arkonik D90 is ready to be driven and enjoyed by a new owner.

@billgrt The one that sold for $250K is a V8 conversion with many other updates. Not a (very nice) stock restoration with some upgrades.

@hans5698 things have changed, don't be one of those people who tries to tank an auction at the end. People are wise to it
This one sold for a quarter million

@hans5698 2.5 Land Rover 200 TDI Turbo Diesel engine
At the current bid, 80k is all the money. One sold on BAT last year for 80k, with V8 fully loaded.

@hans5698 Sending someone now to get pictures. Will upload them as soon as I get them back!
Could you please post additional pictures of oxidation on rear door hinges as well?
Assume this is the entry level 113hp motor from Arkonik. I’ve heard it’s a bit sluggish to drive.

@mmorganstein I assume you mean overall height is 78 inches, not ground clearance correct? I expected it to be taller with the 2 inch lift. So it's at stock height then? Thanks!
@Billan the ground clearance for the vehicle is 78 inches
A new video has been added to the listing page.
Thank you . What about the engine. Was it rebuilt?
@rhmash Vehicle was rebuilt by arkonik, has AC and rear seats!
Does the vehicle have the original motor? Does it have air conditioning? Are rear seats available?
Bid in the amount of $65,000
Is this the one that's been at the lambo dealer for a while? Do you have the rear seats?
Can I get a height from the ground to the highest point? Thanks!
@CBRacerX Much appreciated
After seeing the past few Corvette engined Arkonik creations sold online, I thought that was their best trick. But seeing this restoration makes me even more impressed.
