Available for auction is this 1990 Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1 finished in Bright Red over a black leather interior. Introduced in 1990 as the ultimate high-performance version of the Corvette, the ZR-1 came equipped with an all-aluminum 5.7L V8 LT5 engine developed in collaboration with Lotus. This 1990 example was acquired by the seller earlier in 2022 and features the Selective Ride and Handling Package, power-adjustable sport seats, and a premium Delco-Bose Gold Series sound system. A major service was carried out in March of 2021 by Purifoy Chevrolet of Fort Lupton, Colorado which included new tires, servicing of various interior features, new fuel injectors, braking components, and more. This ZR-1 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Florida showing approximately 40k miles on the odometer.
This ZR-1 is finished in Bright Red and features a removable transparent roof panel, pop-up headlights, fog lamps, fender vents, and power-adjustable and heated side mirrors. Compared to a standard 1990 Corvette, the ZR-1 featured a wider tail section and a convex rear fascia with square taillights. The seller notes the hood has been refinished, the right pop-up headlight operates slowly, and that the windshield appears hazy from the outside. Detailed images can be found in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report. It rides on a set of staggered-width 17″ aluminum “Sawblade” wheels dressed in Nitto 555R tires mounted in March of 2021.
Inside, the cabin is trimmed in black leather with adjustable sport bucket seats included as part of the ZR-1 Performance Package. Other amenities include a trip computer, power windows, a Delco-Bose Gold Series stereo with a cassette and CD player, and automatic climate control. The seller reports that wear is visible on the driver’s seat bolster and that the right-rear speaker assembly was replaced in March 2021. While the CARFAX report shows a mileage discrepancy in January of 2007, the seller contests the mileage shown on the digital odometer is accurate.
Developed in collaboration with Lotus, the all-aluminum 32-valve quad-cam 5.7L V8 is rated at 375 HP and 370lb.-ft of torque, sent to the rear wheels through a ZF 6-speed manual transmission and mechanical limited-slip differential. In 1990, the ZR-1 set multiple world endurance records covering 4,221.26 miles at an average speed of 175.885 miles per hour. The suspension, steering, and braking systems were also developed with the help of Lotus and include a three-mode Selective Ride and Handling package with Bilstein FX3 shock absorbers. The last major service was carried out in March of 2021 at a cost of nearly $10k and included rebuilding the fuel pump, replacement of the fuel injectors, brake pad/rotors, and flushing of the clutch, transmission, brake, and power steering fluids as well as the coolant and engine oil.
This sale will include a clean title.
